An author tries to be innovative with his work and give more depth to romcom manga and he gets crucified for it...
This manga is great, don't let the softies that reviewbombed it tell you otherwise, life isn't always a clear straight line, love is COMPLICATED, this manga didn't "betray" anybody, god forbid a manga try and be interesting. Go back to your rent a girlfriends and dress up darlings tourists...
Is what I want to say, but let's keep things objective.
The art is great, it's about as good as you could have it for a romance manga, it's clean and simple, easy to look at and
...
soft on your eyes, perfect for the atmosphere this type of manga wants to set. The characters are good, there aren't too many, as it mostly revolves only around the two main characters, and occasionally the FMC's friends, the main selling point of this manga really was the story being seen through the FMC's perspective, and seeing her brave herself to confess to her childhood friend whilst cute and awkward situations between the two keep arising, seeing her be so self-conscious about everything is really adorable, and can make you feel all giddy, you can't help but want to root for her and be on her side of the corner throughout the whole manga. But unfortunately, this author, and manga for that matter, didn't take the simplest, "vanilla" route that most mangas of this genre tend to take.
By no means are the recent chapters "bad", or are the recent developments of the story "bad", a lot of people just don't like it when things get complicated in love, but can you blame them? The first 20 chapters of this manga basically invited those types of people to read it, the type that reads these types of manga to feel all giddy and happy inside whilst they read about this girlfailure gush about her childhood friend for the millionth time. The low score and reviewbombs are a result of the audience this manga has gathered. But please, give this manga a try, and don't get offput by the low score, it's fake and this is genuinely worth reading.

If you enjoy this type of manga, this shit is straight up prime.
Actual gourmet trashy ecchi romcom manga, the art is sublime, it's perfectly cheesy and makes you feel giddy to the point of wanting to kick your feet up and down like a schoolgirl.
If you're looking for a well written romance manga about two gamers, DON'T read this, this is nothing but fast food that you enjoy while recognizing that it's terrible, but if you're into that, this is AMAZING. I enjoy this manga for what it is, cheesy horny bait harem fantasy about gaming.

Spoilers Ahead:
While I have not been following this manga's serialization for years like many others under this review section (I binged the entire series within a week). I share their sentiment in thinking that this finale was unpleasant, and many of the moments felt forced, unnecessary, or straight up just sabotage.
Let's first address the elephant in the room. I'm one of few that enjoys NTR, but even I know there's a time and place for it, this definitely was NOT one of them. Sarashina was made out to be this legendary BDSM author, he's held in such a light that not only the mc
...
looks up to him, even we as the audience started looking up to him, even outside of the distasteful NTR bait in the story, he committed one of the deadly sins in BDSM, ignoring safe words. That completely killed any respect I had for the character, and immersion I once had for the story.
I can see the intention behind that scene, yes, they both needed a "push" to come to the conclusion on why they even do these breathers in the first place, was Kaoru doing it because he liked BDSM, or did he do it because he liked Nana? Was Nana doing it because she needed stress relief, or did she do it because she liked Kaoru? But the way they went about it the way that they did was terrible, unprofessional, and uncharacteristically irresponsible for the characters involved in the scheme. There were WAY better ways to go about it than to have a torture scene with NTR bait.
That being said, I think the rest of the manga itself was pretty alright, and the ending was quite a satisfying conclusion to this story, frankly. It's just that one big heaping pile of shit that is Chapter 24 and onwards. The breathers were nice, and the art has seen improvements from the previous titles. My score might not be as terrible as some others, likely because I'm more tolerable with NTR than most, however, I'm not delusional enough to not realize that this was poorly done.

This manga easily could've been a 10/10 for me, the gorgeous scenery, the lovable whimsical characters, the quaint nature of it all. But it just has this persistent issue of meandering and unfocused writing, it flip-flops between the mc taking up odd-jobs and living his life in Iceland, and this murder mystery with his little brother. Now it's a half-baked combination of both. The mystery does not even have the majority of the focus, but because it's presented like the central conflict, it demands all attention and detracts from the other stuff she seems to enjoy drawing and writing more.
Regardless, I personally enjoyed this manga,
...
the chapters that weren't about his little brother were amazing, the atmosphere it brings paired with the beautiful art fills you with wonder, granted I'm also a huge sucker for eccentric characters like Lilja and Jacques, I only hope the later chapters start becoming more focused.
