Also, in both shows, the most intelligent character is masquerading as something that they are not in order to stay undercover, and it takes time to understand their motivations and backgrounds.

Similarities: a hot fox yokai bodyguard protects the main character and eventually they fall in love. I loved Kamisama Kiss and Inu x Boku is the closest and best show to compare it to! It's also a lot deeper than it seems at first, and the animation is beautiful.
