comedy and seinen tags is enough to make me come, but the anime isn't enough to make me stay. It's an animation for people who sleeps listening wall-noise music, or those who make Puri-Puri Prisoner a waifu. I don't hate the anime, and i absolutely love the effort. But this isn't for everyone.
Art 9/10: To be blunt, the art of this 5min/eps is stunning. Dare i say, one of the best, considering the indie-ness of it. This says a lot about how hard the creator put their foot on art department gas. 3 minutes into episode 2 and i start to wonder what can they
...
do with FATE budget.
Sound 8/10: This also one department where it shines, the songs is random and catchy, the voiceover does splendid job, overall you can like it or love it from sound and music department.
Story 3/10: Coming from somebody who does Ichiman absolute justice, i kinda expect a better showing. It's so random, so out of nowhere. The comedy is 100% hit-or-miss chance and if you're not tripping or weird, it's almost certainly a miss. Then again, i have no expectation for this anime. It's not that bad, just not my brand of vodka.
You can die laughing in stunning visual, or you can drop it at episode 5 despite it being only 5 minute per episode. It doesn't hurt to watch, it's just not a recommendable anime to brag to your beautiful anime watcher crush. This anime is cult anime, and if you're casual foreign viewer, do reconsider watching this.

Not shitty, but not the best either
I can tell from the earlier episodes, this anime was made by acid trip. The episode explains the trip they're having.
Art is excellent. Color play, LSD trips i've never done before (i'm not on any when finishing this) Impressed.
MC is kinda interesting. A special-condition everyman. You don't find it too often. But he's too complacent, too laidback, it kills the interest. The others were too aloof, too scripted. The MC wins at the end of the day so they're following the text all too well.
Story, cliche. Good guy wins. Theme is interesting but when you know the ending there's
...
not enough thrill to watch. Like others have phrased it, boring.
Music is different tho. Different ED each episodes. And the music is great too! Kudos for the score director. Lovin' it. OP and fx is not killin the vibe either.
For me, this anime had bigger potential than Kana Hanazawa debuting JAV, but its dead due to lack of quality in, most of all, stories depth.
Afterall, for an anime talking about dreams orchestrated on Acid feeling with good music is a fucking epic combo.
Budget well spent.

Im not that into samurai anime, those classing sword-fighting with noble characters set on a journey towards the bigger "better me". No, i dont really chase this genre.
But somehow my interests were piqued when i saw this anime.
Before started enjoying the anime, i've enjoyed Nujabes for long time. It's always so satisfying to listen to him on good weed or in an evening breeze nap. Long story short, i was googling him. His death, his piece. And that's how i was introduced into this warm anime.
The director made the notable Cowboy Bebop. One of the show i've watched in cool mode. No rush, no binge,
...
full enjoyment. Therefore there is more reason to watch Samurai Champloo.
It's rather a minimum requirements anime than a sideshow. Means there is some terms and condition. One you watch when you have nothing on your watchlist. Series you watch when you're ready to take a trip into a psychedelic Edo-Period Japan for the good times of it. For me, this is not the anime that "i'll watch this while waiting for the new episode of blabla". Because when you bucked your seatbelt, clicked on the first episode, there is no rest area.
This anime, like Cowboy Bebop, is a cocktail of culture. A samurai life-code mixed with poverty with the dressing of hip-hop, graffiti, and common sense-lacking main character. To top it off, got poured at it a great deal of sexual appeal and dick-rocking babes.
Story was not so bad. Cliche, though it must be said. Still, it was an enjoyable journey. United at a teahouse, Fuu, the heroine, asked Mugen and Jin to accompany her finding a samurai that smells sunflower. Mugen and Jin is the hero of the day, fighting on each ass to help her out. All because betting on a bad side against her. Not a really compliacted main arc. Thus, we depart.
I expected to see a biased story of one hero. Since i don't believe there is such thing as 2 main characters in one team in one go.
And mother, was i wrong.
The screentime of each main is surprisingly balanced. Mugen is the foul-mouthed type, while Jin is the cool hero that gets the job done. This oil and water samurai is united by a bond, i may say love, towards Fuu. The clumsy, everywoman with extraordinary big spirit. This is a samurai-based series afterall. All wrapped up in an epic character development of slow tempo and well-written script. The build is almost perfect.
The music is, alluring, satisfying, neatly-made score with well chosen musician. There is no single bad-thing about this series' scores.
Artstyle is something un-discussable, just perfect.
Not seen much heartwarming seinen anime nowadays so this was a good getaway for me. 9/10

This Is, nevertheless, a 2016-ish shounen anime. But packed within amazing graphic plus surprising non all-star cast. A rushed hero in-the-making story with mutant ability.
The story revolves between a life led by Izuku Midoriya in his past told by himself to become a hero like his idol, All Might. Midoriya himself is a basic shounen character. He is honest, straight-faced, plain, strong-willing for his dreams, bestfriend-able, teary, and awkward kind of guy. He probably never jerk-off to any porn in his life except cumming out so loud at All Might heroic scene.
The anime idea itself- outside of being a shounen anime- is one amazing brainstormed
...
combination of many high-achievement comic and movies in the past.
Disney's Sky High (superhero academy),
One Punch Man (plain looking superhuman and nonsensical villain roaming around town), X-Men( variation of natural-born mutant ability. Combat and non combat), etc.
It's not an anime that will be remembered until your great-grandchildren's great grandchildren is having a new pet. But this series is sure a worth to watch no matter what your reason is.
So If you want to watch it (and my opinion)
for the plot: Surprisingly common plot with almost no surprise at all but go ahead (Nay)
for the "plot": you can always have reason for this, aren't you?(Well,Go Ahead)
for the art: they pour some big billings in it, great and colorful but in 2016, the graphic is quite....everywhere(Yay)
for the Ost and in-anime fx: Not the catchiest song in town and the fx is just okay(Well, Go Ahead)
for game references: this series delivers so many variants of superhuman ability and that's almost the sole reason i watch this (total yay)
for enjoyment: light-weighted and think-less series if you're looking to take a break from hardcore anime.(Yay)
Tl;dr a well made 2016 shounen-ish-converted XMen anime that's light weighted and good to watch for binging or doing nothing time. A Good Series.

2014 has given me so much awesomeness.
This is one of them.
An impulsive calligraphy prodigy whose exiled to small island in Japan called Gotou, Handa Seishuu. Handa, just like me, have no expectations of how his live in the village will be. Moreover, the first day of his moving on to the village, he encountered crazy peoples. But the most notable is an hyper little girl named Kotoishi Naru. And just like me, Handa doesn't expect what magic does Naru have in her pocket.
And then the opening starts. Epic, fucking catchy, unskippable performance by Super Beaver. The opening video supports it in every way possible.
The journey
...
begins.
I'm a big fan of Comedy, but Slice of Life tag? Not really. So i don't expect so much from the series.
How does it feel to get your expectations exceeded, again?
Barakamon is way too funny.
City boy in 'alien' place with all his awkwardness of situations, unexpected experience of a strict-raised, not to mention his Narcissism and immaturity. Along with ecstatic 7yo girl with her squad that's not losing in terms of annoying. Plus village teens and their youth spirit combined with crazy personalities. In addition, the rest of villagers is just as lunatic.
The character department never lacks. The main character's development is depicted so well. And Naru, well, you'll know why i love this cute trouble machine so fucking much. The other characters is also very much entertaining.
Slice of Life anime needs to emphasize the character. And Barakamon do just that.
The story revolves in slow pace, but nevermind boring. You won't. Unexpected situations, awkwardness in the midst of beautiful nature scenery, surprising words coming from children's mouth, amazing etc.
And the feels amount this anime gives is bountiful. So you can laugh your ass off while feeling little memory pain in heart. "Ahh, so this is what it feels like to be kids again". You can't help but falling in love with this.
The art is of 2014. Pretty works. And the scenery feels like painting. Stunning. Not the strongest subject, but still worthy to be amazed.
The VA is not an all-star parade. You can feel Daisuke Ono award's aura here. But the totality of the cast is something different. And they use ACTUAL KIDS to voice over the kids. I can't really imagine the situations in the studio, haha. The voice of Naru,Suzuko Hara, is so cute. Did i tell you the ending song is just as awesome? 10/10
This anime is a very definiton of Expect the 'what you don't expect from a series' Unexpected and a powerful blockbuster.
Cracking, full of feels, refreshing, exquisite, pure work of Maestro. Barakamon is worth every minute spent. One of the best work in anime of 2014.
TL;DR Naru is Love, Naru is Life.

Great premises, outstanding background story, terrific artstyle, top-tier sponsorship
Mediocre execution
But this anime worth a 'Very Good' kind of point
Just because it doesn't meet its expectation doesn't mean it is bad, i myself found this anime worth consuming
This anime to begin with, has quite a good Opening song. Not one that's 'not worth the skipping' but one that s 'not bad, i'll download it later and hear it when it shuffles'.
And the story of this anime is, if treated carefully, quite good.
Yuu Otosaka, An abnormal highschooler with his power to control others mind for 5 second, which gave him all advantages to become popular. Handsome is
...
a plus tho. For minus, sis-con.
He then being observed by a group of his 'same beings' that goes to another school, one that is suited for young guys like him.
And the student's prez that's observing him? A cute, mini-sized pale girl with ability to become invisible from her target's sight. And together (along with 2 other) they try to find out what exactly happened to them, why, and what organization that's going after them.
Sounds promising right? clear goals, amusing supernatural power with quite well distributed power.
But this kind of anime should take longer airing time. Because it's so hasty in story development and too small time to see the character's development. Therefore we can quite follow the story, but not exactly with the characters. But as long as you just enjoy it, this anime is savory and good to watch.
The characters, on the other hand, is never a good aspect. Typical Male MC you can almost find anywhere(insensitive, plot-driven developmental with little amount of witty sense and great amount of cool-ish kind) and the female MC that's not being his 180degrees different subject but instead, almost a perfect copy. The supporting casts is actually a good addition to the gang, but their screen time doesn't collaborate so it's a big minus in character department. The seiyuu, which is quite an all-star cast, does their job well tho, despite the lacks of verbal story development.
The artstyle is one to praise. Great graphic works, good attention to small details. Art speaking, they don't lack too much, 9/10.
The etc part is not so good tho. The humor is tacky, the in-anime(manga MC been reading, game being played, current idol culture, etc) facility doesnt get representated well. and the fanservice, eventhough not expecting so many, is too little.
Overall, this anime is a Very Good one, worth to watch, and worth to be fan-ed to. But it's not a 'FUCKING WATCH IT DUUUDE, IT'S SOOOOO GREAAT!' type. Just classic 'you might find this into your liking' type.
a wobbly,if not solid 8/10
TL;DR Worth to watch, but less the expectation you build before watching it.

This is, for me, 2014 way of apology for giving me SAO's quality declination.
Nozaki Umetarou gives you a totally new vibe of hero....a prodigy mangaka who writes Girly Manga with blank-stare, cool yet prudish, kinda Bipolar kinda not, depicted not exactly a handsome guy but we already can tell that there he is a 'hot product'. This guy is your typical "i kinda like this guy, but right now i'm already in love with another guy so you can't proceed in my heart. BUT ACTUALLY I WANT YOU TO!" kind of crush. Not to mention his overwhelming popularity(if exposed). And im not even talking about
...
his talent. And Money.
A tall, cool, handsome guy, with stable financial and nation-class popularity, plus bountiful amount of talents.
But what about his social skills? love experience? friends' quality? 'what women want and need' quality? His 'etc' skills? LESS THAN ZERO.
Clumsy, klutz, insensitive, misunderstandful-mind, and cant go out of his mangaka's world. This guy will take your time just for you to figure out about him. And even if you spend a day just to figure his traits out, you might not even reach 20% of conclusion about him.
And Sakura Chiyo is his perfect prey. This girl is your typical 'Shoujo Anime Heroine' brought to Shounen Manga. Cute, small, yet-specified 3size, loveable, and never giving up on love. Classic girl who (un)fortunately took the wrong train on the first day of school's opening ceremony and happen to met Nozaki-by fate. The rest is a cliche.
OR IS IT?
Nope. She also has handy artsy skills and with good fate, her 'line' crossed again against Nozaki. So she became one of his assistant. And this is what we'll enjoy in the series.
And if you worry about another character's development in this anime, never worry. GSNK has 7 Main Character and some important supporting with well distributed screen time. This series has merciless ammunition of extra-ordinary character.
The-anything but good girl- 'Lorelei' Seo Yuzuki
The-pain in the ass prince- 'Mikorin' Mikoshiba Mikoto
and so many more.
This anime depicts the character's personality so well. Yamazaki Mitsue kinda outdo herself in this anime. And the 'small details' department also doesn't lack one bit. Almost flawless.
Not to mention, the opening is something i can't skip and already on my 'top 25 most played' playlist 2 days after i downloaded it.
GSNK will serve you a very fresh humor which is a mixture of rom-com slapstick with parody spices and stupid conversation as topping with great amount of miscommunication gag for complimentary snacks.
This anime is not a Romantic comedy. For me it is Romantically Comedic series. You won't fall in love with anybody in particular here, but you will absolutely get tickled by everybody in the series. Worth every single minute of those 23 minutes. And if you even wanted to hate this series, you can't.
TL;DR Go.fucking.watch.it.now. thanks

One of the best anime in 2015
The main ingredient, which is action, is depicted quite well. Being famous as a one-hit kill, Saitama is indeed doesn't need much action screen time by his side. His opponents? well they got the privileges. And the anime makes it quite well timed. Although the character developments doesnt seem too good, it's tolerable. Since the anime only have 12 episodes.
However, the comedy, which also it's strong component, can't come to terms VERY FUNNY. It tickles, but you wont screaming laughter or walk funny after watching. This anime was hyped for being gagful and laughable. But the execution on the
...
comedy part is a bit lousy.
Maybe there's also this minor thing where we actually can enjoy this anime in a long-term show because of these mysteries in our mind about the power all the S-class squad. But the PH squeezed it into one- forcefully trying to be amazing- season consists of 12 episode
Overall, this anime is quite good. I myself feel refreshed because there's finally a new mascot in anime world. Not just over-popular main chara like Kirito, Kaneki, etc. But a new Goku, Naruto, or Conan.
But it's not worth the hype.
This anime is Majestically Great, but not Perfect.
All im saying is, this anime is worth re-watching, but not worth the hype.
The hype for this anime, for me, is something that should be dedicated for anime that maybe scores 11/10.
Thanks
