hmm...I don't usually write reviews...but for this anime...which I liked so much...and seems to be so underrated...I just felt like I had to...
Now here goes my basic - no spoiler summary...
Maoyuu Maou Yuusha (MMY from here-forth ) is an anime set in a fantasy - Medieval Europe where peole are at war with demons(kind of like humanoid animal mutants). There's some magic and teleportation in the mix.
Over all, biggest regret is how short it is...12 episodes is simply not enough for everything that happened there..they needed at least 26...some character backgrounds, prequels detailing war, action filled episodes... and most of all...this anime feels unfinished...I
...
hope they make a second season...
Still, with all these huge imperfections, why did I give such a high ranking? Because this anime is very unique. It basically talks about humans vs demons fight, and bringing peace and equality to their realm, but not through Tengen Toppa, Guran Laggan, bolstering of badassery (although main protagonist could probably easily do that) but through careful usage of economics, politics, agriculture, medicine, education and negotiation tactics. In other words, here, reality is primary and magic and fantasy is secondary, the behind-the-scenes view of the war was the most important part here, and I felt like magic was completely unnecessary...and main protagonist's friends...just existed to patch sometimes broken storyliine...in other words...this anime had phenomenal potential to be the best thing ever...and if they continued the way it was for the first episode- it very well might have...kind of reminds me of outlaw star's disappointment after the first 2 episodes...meh...

I think it'd be fair to say that you'll either love this anime, or hate it. Or not understand it at all. I certainly belong to the third group. To me, this anime, was pointless and dumb, although a lot of people seemed to really enjoy it.
So...I'd suggest watch couple episodes, if you don't like it don't bother watching the rest, because it only goes onto become more weird and lame.
It's worth noting, though, that art and sound quality are top notch.

This...is...single...most...EPIC ANIME I'VE EVER SEEN!!!...definitely best mecha anime I've seen too...
Definitely one of my favorite animes ever...now let's go into my impressions category by category:
1)Story 11/10.:
Its rare for me to put an 11 to something somewhere...this anime's story deserves it....Take Lord of the rings, mix mechas, alliens, human charactered animal creatures add a huge ass portion of badass and masterful story telling, and you have TTGL...
Just by the time I was saying to myself...if this keeps going on this'll get lamne, they throw in SUCH A TWIST that turns the whole story upside down and keeps you watching...definitely phenominal script with even more amazing timing
...
of events throughout the series.
2) Art 10/10
...it was very very good. Although I like art style with a more mature feel to it and am not really a fan of mecha animes, there are three artistic aspects this anime is probably one of the best at.
1) Humongous super epic battles..things get more and more massive, and just as you think, you can't get bigger than that, they prove you wrong...time and time and time again. The scale of actions in this anime is truly second to none.
2)Explosions- there are only so many ways you can make explosions interesting...TTGL probably used every artistic tool out there to make explosions look just plain beautiful and interesting.
3)Superpowers-every time you think they're done for, they'll pull out a new totally unrealistic but nonetheless super amazingly awesome superpower and kick everybody's ass...well almost every time...but no spoilers...you'll have to see it yourself to be surprised.
Character design as well as some parts do lack animation though...I heard 40% of TTGL's humongous budget was spent on a few last episodes that are absolutely gorgeous, but some episodes are just good, about hald are masterpiecelike a quarter very good and a quarter good ones(judging by art quality only. Characters seem unpolished and whether it was meant that way or not that was one thing I was unhappy about.
Sound 9/10:
Amazing explosions, great theme song great voice acting, overall flawless sounds. 9/10 because I don't give 10 for something less that outstanding, and masterpiece like(which would require being perfect + something fresh/unusual) But you should now that I have the soundtrack on my phone and periodically listen to it....raw raw fight the power!
Character 9/10:
Beautiful...you have the teenage boy, learning to be a man, you have single most manly man in history, a cool and sexy female sniper and a lot of trustworthy friends you can entrust your life to. The aspects that made this anime great were the contrast between the Kamina with his unbreakable optimism, mabliness and later revealed weaknesses and the weak, normal, anti-hero like Simon, who hopes to one day be like Kamina. There is also the pragmatic no it all, that does the most rational thing with best intentions, but in the world of TTGL its THE FIGHTING SPIRITT that decides it all. (you'll understand me after you watch the anime)
Again for such a great anime, the character design used was such a shame...so I'll take one point away here too...
Enjoyment 10/10
The whole thing...is definition of the word epic. By the end of the anime, you'll love all the characters(or almost all) even the villains.
I loved it.
Overall 10/10:
Definitely a masterpiece. I'd even give it the rare 11/10 if it wasn't for the crappy character design.

This anime has some well made tits...if this caught your attention read on. If tits description is all you care about skip to Art section.
But seriously, this is my first review...so cut me some slack guys...Now let's dive right into the actual review.
If I could, I'd give Samurai Champloo 9.5...This is what got me into watching anime...I marathoned these theries and rewatched them couple tmes...Shinchiro Watanabe(one of my favorite if not the most favorite director) as always was brilliant here.
Now let's go over what made this anime so great.
Story 8/10:
The overall plot(which is described in pretty much everyu other review) is probably the weakest aspect
...
of the series, but still very good. A cute, childish and extremely helpless girl accidentally meets two off the hook insane but loveable warriors who hate each others' guts and somehow makes them travel with her and be her bodyguards(which proves to put her into even more danger) in order to help her find her father. The anime pretty much follows their journey and adventures they encounter(very very fun adventures) and has some really fun filler episodes.
Don't get me wrong because of the score I gave it...the plot is fun as hell and very enjpyable, but not bery deep. It does touch a lot of issues, but I wish it'd dive deeper into them.
Art 10/10:
there are tits...and tits...which are very well made....
Made by Shinchiro Watanabe...enough said.
But ill also note that this anime has made a sweet mix of hip-hop and Japanese Edo period culture. The overall art quality is top notch and if you think that visuals are important part of anime, you'll enjoy this one no doubt about it.
P.S. to learn more about beautifully made edo-period tits ranging from prostitutes, to cougars to dudes dressed up as women watch it...you won't regret it, although I will admit that tits aren't the focus of this nime...ACTION SCENES ARE!!!
Sound 10/10:
It is very rare for me to watch the entire soundtrack of an anime every single episode...I did it with this one. Nujabes did a great job...I even have soundtracks on my phone...People who love hip-hop will love this anime.
Voice acting was really outstanding, the english dub cast was pretty much the same as for Cowboy Bebop, and they really have done amazing job.
Character 9/10:
It is pretty much 2 warriors with completely different styles of fighting and outlook on life and a seemingly helpless, but often times very resourcefull young lady.(not too much tits)
But you'll also encounter a wide range of characters with and without tits, straight and gay, Japanese and foreign, buddhist, christian, zombies you name it, they have it.
Although there is some decent main character development, I feel like, showing more of the protagonists' past would make this anime so much beter and bring it to a solid 10.
Enjoyment 11/10:
If you want a fun anime to watch...this is it...beautifully made action scenes, fun plot interesting characters, don't have to think too much...just lean back and enjoy.
Overall, I recommend this anime to anybody who wants to have a good time...meaning to everybody. I've actually shown it to couple of my friends who usually don't like anime, but they marathoned through it like crazy...
hope you enjoyed the review.
