The first thing that comes to mind when I think of how to explain why I love this show so much is "It's like Sword Art Online, but done right." and of course I'll have to explain because there are some people who loved SAO and others who hated it, so here's why I say that:

Right off the bat, I don't think my SAO comparison is a great one, it's just the first thing that comes to my mind. This is a dark-fasntasy anime compared to SAO's light hearted happy-go-lucky story. The MC get transported into a videogame where now he's living in it as ... if he's been isekai'd into a new world. However, the world he finds himself in isn't exactly a 1:1 of the videogame he's spent years playing. Several things seem to be slightly different from the game, so even with his near encyclopedic level knowledge of the game, he doesn't completely know everything that this new world has in store for him.

After realizing that he's still pretty powerful in this world, just like his character in the videogame was, he decides that he can't be the only person from modern day Japan to be in this new world and starts building up his empire while also trying to determine who else in this world may have knowledge of Earth, or even for a way to go back to his old life.

I've currently watched all 4 seasons of the show twice now, and can't wait for season 5 to release. This quickly became one of my favorite anime of all time even before Season 2 released, and I'm extremely invested in the story of Ainz Ooal Gown. Glory to the Great Tomb of Nazarick!

The first episode had me hooked immediately. A place that trains spies in varying fields of expertise is something that was very easy for me to become invested in.

However, after 5 episodes, I realized that the main plot and story of the show just... didn't exist? Or at least they stopped caring about it?

It went from something with a compelling over-arching story to a show that was like a compilation of side stories of each character with a disappointing absence of actual story progression or plot exploration. Maybe they circle back to it later on, but after 5 episodes all the interest I developed had ... disappeared. It was still a decent show until then though, so 5/10.

Season One was pretty interesting and I was definitely invested in the story and looking forward to what they did in S2, but after 16 episodes I just completely lost interest in it. It really feels dragged out, and a lot of the problems in Season 2 that I had seen where things that felt like they were being over dramatized for no real reason, and at some point that spark it had that hooked me in S1 just completely died out.

Save yourself the trouble and drop it after watching the first season, your thoughts of what could have been will be better than what ... actually was.

The premise of the world the story is built on is really cool! Everyone has a number somewhere on their body that reflects something they do that's almost a core to their personality (how many satisfied customers their food place has had, how many miles they've walked, how many people they've helped, etc.) which is something I haven't seen before.

That being said.... I just couldn't watch more than 3 episodes of this horrible anime. I couldn't for the life of me get passed the fact that the male MC just straight up molests every single girl he comes across. It's like one or two steps ... away from softcore corn instead of just some fan service. Wish they could have dialed that part back like 90%, maybe then it would've been a great show, but alas here we are watching a guy just grope women for 70% of the first three episodes before I quit watching it.

After finishing the series, here's my review for it as a whole:
The whole story, world, and characters are all pretty much top-notch, but the closer to the end the show gets the more it get's lost in its own sauce. The first 2 or 3 seasons are some of the best the show ever was, but I really didn't care for the majority of the show after that.

Without getting into spoilers, I don't think it's a must-see show or anything, but the first few season are definitely worth a watch. Honestly, unless you're a die hard fan, you could probably just stop watching after season ... 3 and not bother with the rest of the show.

This is, in many ways, the kind of anime I never knew I always wanted. When people get mortally injured, they die. None of this "just a few weeks of rest" and you're back and stronger than ever. Every character is human, and has a human body with all its limitations. Of course this isn't the only anime that does this, but it was the first one that I saw that left such a lasting impression on me.

I give this show a 10/10 because of how no character is immune to death. There's no plot armor for anyone, friend or foe, and every character is ... aware of the risks they take each day. That's what I believe earns this show a 10/10 in my books: The mortality that each character is aware they have, which was refreshing for me because when I first found this anime all the other shows I had seen were filled with characters having their internal organs crushed, limbs cut off, and more, and being 100% fine and healed in like two weeks, which was getting annoying. In that sense this show opened my eyes to a genre of dark fantasy anime that I had no idea existed before, which also contributed to my 10/10 rating.

It's not for everyone, and some deaths in the show did seem completely avoidable, but I thoroughly enjoyed all of it and it holds a special place in my heart.

I read this in high school and was instantly hooked after the first few pages. The art style is great, and the book contains multiple shorter horror stories that aren't gore or slasher focused either (which I'm not interested in anyway) and instead are all psychological & body horror. The part I enjoyed the most about the stories is that when they're just starting off it always seems like something that you could see happening to someone in the real world, but as it goes on it gets more other worldly, but I still love that beginning part.

Definitely a must read for fans of psychological ... horror. It's also short enough to not feel like you're committing to something huge if you don't end up liking it or dropping it after a story or two.

The broad plot of this story is about an adventurer who the Crowned Prince hires to help him reach the end of a dungeon and obtain the rare artifact hidden within. However, things don't go according to either of their plans and the prince ends up screwing over the MC Adventurer. Now on a warpath for revenge after somehow surviving the prince's betrayal, the MC gathers allies and builds up his strength all while discovering more about the history of not only the kingdom but the world itself and how and why dungeons came to be.

If you like a fantasy setting revenge story with a ... satisfying conclusion, you'll enjoy this series. At just under 150 chapters it won't take too long to complete either. After finishing it nothing felt like it went unresolved or unanswered either, which is always a good thing. There were definitely some stories I wish had gone on longer, but it's better for things like this to have too little than too much, otherwise you'll end up with a story that goes on for 300+ chapters that could be told in under 200.
