Mieruko-chan

A blend of horror and comedy in a school setting and with some fanservice. The jokes often arise from the situations in which the protagonists can see the ghosts while other people do not see them.

Cute girls doing cute things in a world full of zombies/ghosts. In both cases the protagonists are often on the verge of breaking down, even though gakkougurashi is more serious about that, while mieruko-chan turns it into a joke.

No Game No Life

Both anime revolve around the same concept of simple or well-known games turning into something ridiculously unexpected. Both are ingenious and innovative, the approaches differ though: classroom minimalism in Seki-kun versus fantasy oversophistication in NGNL game-world. In other aspects the two have nothing in common except both are extremely funny comedy shows.

Both are hillarious comedy shows with elements of parody and a school setting. They both feature over-the-top absurd humour as well as other anime references. Seki-kun proves that not only Sunrise can do it right! Female protagonists (Rumi Yokoi and Ichiko Sakura) look alike and both are voiced by Hanazawa Kana. Despite absolutely different personalities their inner monologs are essential parts of both shows where they can easily change their attitude from being overly caring to extremely ferocious. Good laughs are guaranteed if you watch each of the shows.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Both are parody shows that contain a great deal of gags that at first are based purely on dialogue but then expand and bring out new situations and/or actions (often random enough to blow your mind) for the sole purpose of further developing the joke. In Cromartie this specific type of jokes appears from time to time while Zetsubou Sensei is practically 99% of such a gags.

Very similar type of jokes that often go overboard and transcend any common sense. Also gorilla characters and charismatic robots in both. In a sense Cromartie Kokou is a direct predecessor of Gintama and therefore a definite must-watch for all Gintama fans.

Both have huge cast. Some characters have split personalities which additionally multiplies main cast. Non-linear and sometimes unpredictable plot where actual storyline is composed of several seemingly distinct stories set in one city. Both shows are psychological although they don't seem that way at the beginning.

At first glance there is not much similarity in setting, plot and characters but if you look deeper both series ideologically close to each other. Both are antiutopias set in the postapocalyptic worlds where societies work under quite similar principles. In both protagonists set off on a jouney beyond the borders of their little worlds. Each new episode is a revelation for it widens the horison and adds new pieces to the puzzle. Naturally, though different, both shows put very deep questions and go as far as they can probing into the answers.
