Both these anime forgo much logic choosing to take the path of fun ridiculous campyness over srs bsns realism. Not for those unable to allow themselves a good time, but sure to be enjoyed by the rest of us.

Hotblooded crazy samurai and ninja being all hotblooded and crazy in humorous over the top fashion. You expected something serious and vaguely realistically historical? Not here, baby. (Sengoku Basara does hold the distinction of actually being enjoyable however)

The two manga are about as different as you can get in terms of genres but both teach the very important lesson of not judging based on appearances. Both of the male leads, while outwardly quite scary, are in fact very sweet and kind people.

Seirei no Moribito
|
Both Brigadoon and Seirei no Moribito have young children being protected by strong warriors with mysterious pasts. Both Melan and Balsa originally see protecting their respective charges as nothing more than their duty, but they both eventually come to care for the children they're watching over. Brigadoon has much more comedy and light moments, but both have great action and great heart.
