I came into this anime with zero expectations, but I’m sure if I had any, they would’ve been blown away by now.
The story is dark and uncompromising, but not overly complex. Who the villain is and the objective for Hyakkimaru is pretty clear from the get-go. It's the journey that matters. His companion is a boy named Dororo, a thieving little smartass that thankfully doesn’t lean in too hard into that trope. His genuine concern for Hyakkimaru, as well as his earnest reactions towards the world he lives in, make him endearing instead of annoying. The two of them are an odd pair, but
...
it works to add some wholesomeness into what is otherwise a brutal world.
And this anime is brutal, no doubt about it. Hyakkimaru’s journey is littered with people who are affected by the wartime era they find themselves in; people who have learned to cope with war, others who seek to atone for their sins during war, and yet others who have been destroyed by war. Then there’s Hyakkimaru himself, someone who has had everything taken from him (quite literally) and is driven by the single-minded pursuit to get it all back. I wouldn’t say the anime goes so far has to be hopeless, but it is definitely bleak.
The animation is beautiful, matching the grimness of the world while having some great action scenes. And the OP is straight fire, been having it on repeat for days.
If you aren’t watching this anime right now, I cannot recommend it enough.

Yikes. The exaggerated hatred in some of these reviews compelled me to write one. This may not be the best anime created but it’s pretty damn good. Also, this anime is not Monogatari and is not meant to be compared to Monogatari. Monogatari is not the better version of this show. Believe it or not, not everyone likes pedophiles as MCs.
Moving on, Bunny Girl Senpai is a show that tries to tackle a variety of issues associated with puberty (I would say the issues go beyond just puberty though). Sakuta is our protagonist, a smart-ass pervert of a loner who encounters different instances of
...
Adolescence Syndrome, which is a syndrome that pretty much manifests whatever the problem the person is going through in a supernatural way. There is a lot of pseudoscience bullshit here, but it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the show, because pseudoscience bullshit is pretty much the norm for these type of shows. Each arc deals with a different case of Adolescence Syndrome, usually taking 3 episodes for the resolution of each arc. I will say that the show does not reach the highs of the first arc again, which I found amazing, but each arc was quality in its own right.
Now what’s to like about this show? For one, the banter between Mai and Sakuta is enjoyable, as well as the fact that they act naturally around each other. You won’t find the romance stagnant like other anime shows where it takes the MC 300 episodes to be around the girl he likes without squeaking like an idiot. That’s a plus in my book. Two, the show does not shy away from tackling topics such as bullying, the sexualization of minors and girls, insecurity in maintaining friends, terrible parents, etc; and for the most part, it tries to do it in a genuine way. Can the progress and development of the characters feel a bit forced at times? Absolutely, but I never felt like things were rushed to the point of being absurd. Which bring us to three, the characters. Yes, I won’t deny that the characters (Mainly Futaba) can seem like vehicles for the issue that the writer is intending on focusing on, but they have enough of their own personality that I found them distinct enough to actually give a damn about them during their arcs. I even shed a tear or two in some parts, but that’s neither here nor there.
The animation for this show is generic, but it does it job. Not much to say about it. The soundtrack is solid.
Overall, this a great anime. I definitely recommend it.

I don't usually watch romances. The constant slow pans of lovers looking at each other, the blushes as they quickly look away, the gasps as they say each other names, etc; I just find it all too hilarious and tedious to get into the show.
Now you would think based on my score Kimi ni Todoke must've done away with these tropes. You would be wrong. Kimi ni Todoke has enough blushes, slow pans, and gasps to last me a decade. Not to mention enough inner monologuing to make me feel I was reading a novel. Oh, did I forget to mention the classic misunderstanding trope,
...
where characters refuse to communicate with each other for more than 5 seconds and therefore it takes a couple of episodes for conflicts to be resolved? Cause it has that too.
So why the hell do I like this show? It's simple really. It's because of the characters.
While this show may classify as a romance, I see this more as a story of friendship. Sawako may be the sweetest MC I have ever watched. I can't help but like her. Her pure-hearted way of tackling things made me want to root for her, and that pure-heartedness is mirrored in her friend Chizuru, a brash loudmouth that couldn't act more differently than Sawako yet be more similar at the same time. Then there's Ayane, who's more experienced and perceptive, with such a mischievous personality that she can't help herself from teasing her friends. The two males of the friend group are just as likable. Kazehaya, Sawako's love interest, is a popular guy with a kind heart but naive and shy enough that he isn't as confident as he appears to be. Ryu, Kazehaya's best friend, is aloof and disinterested but still willing to help out his friends in his own way. The interactions and relationship between these 5 friends are what made me enjoy the show so much. They're genuine people, and it's nice to watch them.
Kimi ni Todoke is a romance, and a slow-paced one at that. Sawako and Kazehaya sure like taking their time getting with each other. But despite that, I rarely felt bored. The cast of characters is just so damn heartwarming that I had a stupid smile on my face nearly every episode. If you wanna watch something that lets you relax and feel good inside, this is it.

I'm a huge fan of the original Steins;Gate series. Loved the plot, loved the characters, its a masterpiece for me.
Steins;Gate 0 is a great anime in its own right. That being said, I didn't quite enjoy it as much as the original. I know I know, I should judge this anime by its own merits but it's hard for me not to compare the two since they're so closely entwined. It is what it is.
I understand that we have to exchange Hououin Kyouma for sad, depressed Okabe. And I understand that Makise herself won't be in this anime much.
Doesn't make their absences any less noticeable.
The
...
inclusion of new characters like Maho, Kagari, Dr. Leskinen, along with a few others did much to flesh out the show and contribute to the plot. The added screentime and backstory given to established characters such as Suzuha (who is one of my favorite characters) makes Steins;Gate 0 worth the watch alone. Still, the cast for this season just didn't have the chemistry of the original Steins;Gate for me. And while I understand that is probably unavoidable, my love for this show still suffered because of it.
Now the plot of Steins;Gate 0 is solid. Don't wanna give away too much because even a little might spoil the show, so I'll just say it takes a different approach than the original. Things pick up much faster in this series, however, the momentum is more like a roller coaster than anything else. Instead of a slow build up followed by a crazy plunge that continues to the end of the season, we get dramatic highs followed by periods of, well, normalcy. That isn't to say the final stretch of this show isn't hard-hitting, but I would say it doesn't match the intensity and cohesiveness of the original. Especially the ending, which I have no shame in saying left me absolutely confused until Google cleared things up for me. Somewhat.
Steins;Gate 0 is a much watch for fans of the series. If you haven't yet, you slackin. But if you weren't a fan of Steins;Gate before, I'm pretty sure this series isn't gonna change your mind. I myself enjoyed it alot...but it's not a 10 for me.

This anime is shitty ok. The animation ranges from average to terrible, Asta is annoying, the rest of the characters are shallow, the plot barely holds water; etc. Do you get the picture?
But I'm still watching it.
I like shonen stories. The powerless kid who rises to the top despite all odds. Manifests power no one knew he had. Blah blah blah. Its just good to kick back sometimes and watch someone kick ass.
Nothing about this anime is unique or amazing. Don't go expecting that. I repeat, DON"T GO EXPECTING THAT!
But if you want to feel that boyish thrill as the protagonist overcomes foes against all
...
odds, this anime does a passable job at doing that.

This show is definitely on crack, but it's good crack. Grade A crack. And I find it hilarious.
There isn't much to describe in way of plot. Plot=shenigans. But the girls' personalities are distinct and they bounce off one another really well. Everyone has their own little quirks that contribute to making the comedy consistent and make sure those gut-wrenching laughs keep coming.
Honestly, the first episode is a great indicator of what to expect. Watch it, and if it isn't your thing, rest assure that the show isn't for you. However, if it had you grinning like a madman, just know you're in for a treat.
