NGNL and SAO both involve the main characters being in a world of gaming. The main protaganists in both series involve a boy (game obsessed within both series) and a girl. In NGNL, the characters want to stay in their alternative world, while in SAO, the characters want to get out. The male progtaganists (Kirito and Sora) are considered as OP players in their respective world and tend to attract all the girls around them (Harem) and that they both have the same voice actor. Both series present beautiful art and have great animations.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica

Both of the series are major influences of the anime industry, as they both deconstructed their specific genre. Madoka Magica deconstructed the Magical Girl genre while Neon Genesis Evangelion deconstructed the Mecha genre. They both completely changed the aspects of their specific genre and re-shaped many cliches. We can consider Madoka Magica as the "The Evangelion of the Magical Girls" as they both focus on the main characters' fighting against something that they do not know of, in order to protect others, while dealing with their psychological emotions. Both series presents a light and calm atmosphere in the beginning before they descend into an atmosphere of struggles and darkeness. I strongly recommend these two animes, as they are both masterpieces!

Accel World

Both of these series are to be considered very similar they are both created by the same author. The setting for both is in the future and both are about being in the virtual world and the main characters each having an objective to complete. Accel World uses Neuro-Linker, while SAO uses the Nerve Gear, where the players connect to the game. The virtual world in both of the series also involve real life, which creates a serious and intense atmosphere, such as death in SAO also means death in real life. Along with the intensity of the series, there is also romance going around in both of the series.

Both are about a group of school girls forming a music group and both of the series have similar objectives, prior to creating the music group. In K-On, this is to save a band from disbanding, while in Love Live, this is to attract new students in order to stop the school from closing down. Both of the series' setting are about school, the bond between the girls in the group and while having comedy and moe at the same time. Not to forget, K-On and Love Live both have great music and discography, which makes both of the series very memorable.
