Anyone who has seen DRRR knows that the world it's set in is a pretty unique one, if you were entranced by it as I was I highly recommend checking out Baccano!. For starters, Baccano! is set in the same universe as DRRR, the writer is the same for both series'. The strongest point of DRRR is arguably the characters, all of them have interesting individual personalities and even after I finished DRRR a long time ago I remember them all vividly. Baccano! features a very wide range of characters that you will get to know and love as much you like the characters in DRRR. If you are a fan of the mysterious and supernatural element of DRRR, you'll be as interested in Baccano! as it excellently shows off a bunch of inhuman acts and events that will leave you hyped up for every next thing that happens. It's not your run-of-the-mill stuff either, a lot of things surprised me and I was on the edge of my seat most of the time. Baccano! is a lot shorter than DRRR, it is only 13 episodes (although there are 3 Baccano! Special episodes after the anime ends that you will also definitely want to watch), but don't expect to get less from that, I feel Baccano! is paced perfectly and is great to marathon in 1 sitting, or watch over the course of a while. Don't be put off if you are confused, the best thing you get from watching Baccano! is the feeling you get when everything starts piecing together. Considering Baccano! aired in 2007, the art is great and the animation is superb all throughout the show without any noticeable drops in the high quality it retains. This greatly adds to the watching experience, and, if you enjoyed the music of DRRR, the soundtrack of Baccano! will please you even more, the extremely well composed soundtrack features mainly a jazz mood which matches perfectly with the setting of the show. It's a pleasure to listen to the soundtracks of both DRRR and Baccano! even on their own. So, to conclude (and tl;dr), watch Baccano! if you've seen DRRR and vice versa, as everything you enjoyed is shared between the shows and it's a shame if you were to miss out on watching these anime displaying well-crafted, enticing stories, styling and bold animation and art, memorable and likeable characters, and a great soundtrack. -----------SPOILERS----------- (P.S. After finishing Baccano!, I highly recommend watching episode 11 of Durarara! again, during the scene where Mikado calls the first Dollars meeting, a certain pair from Baccano! make an appearance and it's a riot to watch. I loved the cameo.)
