Honestly I didn't expected much from the plot, but I've been really surprised and moved by the show. It depicts some hard events to live in once's life like family issues or sexual abuses. On the other hand, it shows that kindness can exist in this world, or at least the author seems to believe it.

I was disturbed by the age gap at first, then realized the kind of relationship we were witnessing which was really beautiful in my opinion. Each character bringing what the other was missing for a certain amount of time, just the needed amount to grow deep feelings and leave a ... void into their hearts when things were to come back to normal.

Dedication, love, respect, solitude, hope, moral. Higehiro really displayed all of that in a great way.
Go for it if you like dramatic romances with maybe hope in the end.

Great OSTs.

Compared to the previous season, Subaru seemed to have learned from his power, he seems less defenseless, less desperate as he goes through his numerous deaths. He almost felt like a god, we see him not caring for his friends' death since he knows he can reset by dying, is he slowly losing parts of his humanity ? Unfortunately, his power isolated him, having to redo the same dialogues, try different conversations to gather information without being able to tell anyone what is going on made me feel like he was playing a role. A forced role he had no other choice to play in ... order to achieve his goal. That felt dramatic, lonely and unthinkable.

I like the fact that at some point, watching the anime almost felt like a game. Taking the time to think about what were the gathered information, what would we do into his shoes, what's left to do. Even if we know he has his Return By Death ability, there are still great scary moments where we are able to feel disgust about what we're witnessing, feel empathy for Subaru who's enduring the worst, worst what we could ever imagine. The despair in his resolve reminded me of Steins;Gate. Those feelings are even stronger when we come to think there are no options left (cf. the rabbits scene).

Subaru has no consideration for himself. It's almost as if he doesn't like himself. He doesn't even consider himself as a likable person as he's surprised so many times by people caring about him and wanting to save him. He genuinely can't understand it. He who is ready to sacrifice himself to live a future where everyone he loves is there, no matter what he has to go through.

He's unable to accept failure, as a legacy from his old life, when he lived in his father's shadow, feeling obligated to do as well as him and be perfect. Which he obviously couldn't. Maybe the envy witch gave him the ability to loop indefinitely to fill this void he always felt.

The fact that he wants to be perfect and satisfy everyone is precisely about everyone but never about himself. The time he learns about loving himself, not trying to please everyone, the time he learns to live for himself is starting to happen but still need some time to mature.

Isn't it a lesson the envy witch is trying to teach him/us ? "Learn to live to yourself, not for anyone else" in reference to his past self in the human world ? Did the pressure he felt from everybody's expectations on him compared to his dad's reputation makes him strong enough to take on the will to do everything perfectly, to finally achieve the witch will by consequence ?

Can't wait to watch the part 2 !

The art in general was really good, especially the OSTs

I had no knowledge about all the Cyberpunk universe when watching the anime. The viewer is put in front of ethical questions like "Is this future for humanity suitable ?", "Would I indulge in such behaviors if I lived in this environment ?" Beware, though, this anime is very violent, depicting a world with high criminality.

Another question asked to the viewer during the show: "Are you as special as you think you are ?" everyone has their own limitations and it's normal. We witness someone who is ready to sacrifice all he has to make his dream true and protect the one he loves. The ... animation is great, especially during fights and some scenery well accompanied with great OSTs.

There is a romance development very cute to watch which will lead to some tragic events.

I was a bit disappointed at the end which I think was designed to be emotional. They could have played a bit more on the romance shown during the show.

Good anime overall. It will teach you more than you could think and most probably make you feel emotional. Go for it !
