Watched the 1st movie on cinemas when it released, then wasn't able to go see this one, so I finally decided to give it a try.
I don't read novels so I don't compare it to anything but the anime itself, and I must say the Progressive project is way, way, WAY better than the anime, or should I say original SAO?
Asuna as the main focus is great, she is great in this, never been a big fan of her, something about her never really clicked with me, but these movies have finally made me like her.
About Kirito, he is shit in the anime, he and
...
the shit writing makes me hate SAO, but in these movies he is great, because he feels like a normal dude, he acts like a normal dude, these movies fixed him.
Now, about this movie itself, it honestly feels like filler.
It starts boring, all that treasure hunting shit was boring, Asuna trying to recover her weapon was cool, but then we get a scene with her and Argo thaking a bath and is like, WHO THE FUCK IS ARGO? I mean I liked her, but she was never properly introduced to us, she appeared for like half a second and the end of the 1st movie, and now she shows up in this one like she paid the bills, wtf.
As I said, it all felt like filler, nothing really important happened here other than the damn flag stuff and Asuna learning about the Player Killers (which is something Kirito already knew lol).
The boss fight of course was the peak of this movie, IT WAS SICK, SICK I TELL YOU.
Even if this movie was kinda worst than the 1st one I hope someday they release a 3rd one, or as many as they need to finish all of this, becauase they are indeed nice movies.
But I kinda doubt that, it has been a couple of years already with no news, and that ending sequence confused me, we see Asuna transition to her Knights of the Blood armor and then we get a hard cut to her and Kirito holding hands at the end game, what was all that about? I wanna see why Asuna joins KotB, I wanna see if she gets separated from Kirito and maybe that's why she joins them? And what about the final boss? This was really weird.
PD: Sorry for my bad english.

I had a great time following the meme, the "SHIKANOKO IS ABSOLUTE CINEMA" meme mindset, but in all honesty, this is a hard 7/10 for me, because most of the jokes aren't funny, and that's a problem, I'm not saying that this show wasn't fun, but that there are many, many times were it's comedy just doesn't click (like for example the entirety of ep2 that to this day I'm trying to forget).
As a short example, episode 12 proves it: it abruptly ends, with a bad joke, the 1st half was literally repeating the same joke over and over, gets old, and the FUNNY
...
point was having a lot of REAL japanese mascots that only japanese people will recognize which makes the jokes really boring for the rest of us (I talk more about this later).
I adore random comedy animes, but for this one I expected way more.
Still, I want a 2nd season, I want more, I'll miss Shikanoko, it's funny opening, and all of it's characters (NEKOYAMADA MY BELOVED), with the exception of their teacher, she sucks ass.
I want to point something else, I gave it a 7, but now I feel kinda bad that it wasn't an 8, because thinking about it, you can FEEL that the staff and the seiyuus had a GOOD TIME, like damn, just look at the publicity, look at the VA cast, hear the voices of the characters, the many funny songs, there is no way they didn't feel joy while making this... but still, it's really not that fun to watch, again, the jokes man, most of them are so baaad, the writing staff was clearly struggling to come up with fun stuff that EVERYONE can enjoy, and I say EVERYONE because one thing that makes the jokes feel bad is that many of them are only for japanese audiences, and that's fine, it's made for them after all, but they know that anime is watched all around the world nowadays, and they knew they had gold in their hands with how crazy the opening song alone exploded on social media worldwide, so it was really dissapointing...
Oh, yeah, another part that I dislike a lot is when animes break the 4th wall so much to troll their audiences, like for example, they show you something interesting or actually plot-relevant and then proceed to literally say something like "this is just a comedy anime so that stuff doesn't matter!", and they do that in this show, twice, f-ck them.
If you are into comedy anime, that goes heavy on the random stuff and CGDCT, you will have a good time, maybe not love it, but a good time.
If you don't like or care about what I just say, STAY AWY.

*This is my 1st review, I don't really care about posting complex reviews of things, but I feel I need to post this one on defense of such a great show.*
Just finished this, had it on my backlog for years and finally gave it a chance.
It is so good, soo crazy good.
Panty jokes aside, I loved everything, the animation, characters, plot, it is just so fun and interesting, there are many parts were it can get convoluted and confusing, but it all comes together extremely well.
The many action scenes it surprisingly have are excelent.
The 2 mayor plot twists are hinted at since the very begining,
...
but they are used extremely well.
The ending made me both sad and really happy, it could've have ended with the demise of the villain and EVERYONE being happy, but at the last second it decides to go for something different while still going for what us vieweres are expecting.
Yuuta ends up being a true fkng hero, a really cool character.
Currently this has a 6.80 score, that's terrible, this deserves more, 8.0 at minimum. The low score doesn't mean anything.
I don't care what people may think but this is a 10/10 for me, I was expecting something completelly different, a goofy plot about a ghost and panty jokes, but found out this is actually a really serious story hidden as a comedy anime, there aren't many animes that get to impress me like that, this was a banger from begining to end, I can only wish it had the attention it deserved, and that I had watched it sooner, I can't believe I've lived all these years without knowing about the existence of Mikatan and her transformation Strange Juice.
PD: sorry for my bad english.
