You expect a sequel to improve upon it's predecessor in all aspects, be it animation, characters, character development, plot etc. but this one manages to somehow bring down everything already established in S1.
The side characters in S1 are sidelined for newer and blander characters who get ditched immediately at the end. The old cast is so horribly cast aside that even if you remove them from the plot, nothing essentially changes. The new characters are not interesting in the sense that the entire second season feels like a filler season you'd see in Naruto or Bleach.
When it comes to power fantasy anime like
...
this you expect the MC to overpower everything and introduce new magic but no such thing happens in S2 because this season managed to depower Diablo to such an extent that there are minor characters who wound him and are faster than him. Powerful villains are not a bad thing, however, the way they are used is quite underwhelming in this season. The final boss gets taken down by a single attack and it's called a Raid boss - the weakest raid boss but a FUCKING RAID BOSS OF LEVEL 200 WAS TAKEN DOWN BY A SINGLE ATTACK OF DIABLO OF LEVEL 150. That is only one of the hair-pulling things I encountered while watching it.
In the end, as compared to season 1, this season is essentially a filler which manages to accomplish nothing to build the world, introduce and kill off pointless characters, does not setup anything for a potential season 3, and destroys a whole season worth of character development of the original trio.
Skip it.

I was struggling with a 9 or 10 for this anime, but chose to give it a 9.
Did it deserve a 10?
I give 10s to anime which I benchmark other anime of the same genre against - So is Horimiya a benchmark for school romance anime? No.
The overall plot is quite similar to others in the same genre, except a distinct lack of pointless fanservice, cliched beach episode, school trip episode, forced conflicts, mass misunderstandings etc. Horimiya takes the best parts of the school romance genre and condenses it into a 12 episode run. It feels rushed and some couples/characters are not
...
explored but considering they adapted the whole manga, it's to be expected.
The jokes land most of the time, the characters feel realistic, like they're actually high school characters - a good balance of maturity and lack thereof. I don't pay attention to soundtrack and stuff but I liked the OP and ED, and the animation was nice.
The best and worst part of Horimiya is it's characters - Some are way too relatable and in some instances you can see yourself in them, but then they act like your typical cliched anime characters. It's this dichotomy which brought down my score and impression. There were so many interesting things the show could have explored - Parentification, dealing with grief over death of a loved one, self-harm, insecurity, and feelings of loneliness but only the last two are superficially touched upon.
Personally, I don't look for these things in a school romance anime but the fact that these issues were present and mentioned elevated this anime from your regular anime of the same genre.
Are there any negatives? Yes.
Apart from the ones mentioned above, especially during latter part of the series Horimiya worsens in it's storytelling. Without spoiling anything, some characters act completely different from what the show established them to be. This that should not be overlooked, were and it felt like the show was rushing to adapt the ending rather than tell the story.
Should you watch it? Absolutely.
I am not a fan of the romance genre, but I had a blast watching this one.

What do we have here boys - An ode to degeneracy, that's what. A heaping pile of sexual harassment of underage boys by adult teachers.
So why a 5? Because that's what I expected going into this anime.
But why a 5 then? Because this anime brings absolutely nothing new in it's degeneracy. It's all you've seen before, but the gimmick being it's a female teacher and male student.
Is this the worst in this genre, nope but it's not the best either - Mediocre, that's how I would describe this anime.
Is this for everyone? Nope, some would find it revolting and justifiably so
...
but if you choose to watch it, for whatever reason, don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.

I usually write reviews to justify my grievances and problems with an anime and this anime has many. First, let's discuss what this anime was for me,
MC has 0 character growth, which is not unusual in OP MC genre (exactly as the name suggests), but the MC here is worse. Over the course of the 12 episodes the MC has shown only one of these two expressions - A sly smile or completely expressionless.
In OP MC anime, the side characters are supposed to shine. No side characters here are memorable. For the first 6-7 episodes the dialogue of side characters can be summed up as
...
- "Oh, how is he (the MC) doing that?", "He is not human", "Wow, so good, much APM!". This is not an exaggeration.
This anime revolves around a game called Glory. Is it an MMORPG with fighting elements? Just a plain MMORPG? All we know is people play this game on KB+M and the rest is unexplained. You see people doing "stuff", but they don't make sense when we think about what is humanly possible with a KB+M. Are the characters inhuman then? No, apparently they're not top level at the world's stage.
The animation is excellent though, but as the episodes progress you'll see some repeated animations, copy pastes etc. which was fine with me. I liked the music but the voice acting sound lackluster for everyone expect the loud guys.
Overall, it's a mediocre anime which goes absolutely nowhere and does nothing with it's plot and characters.

While watching this anime comparing it to KonoSuba is the worst thing you could do.
On its own, this one could be considered a decent comedy with an interesting setting, quirky characters, and a bit of intriguing world-building. But, this anime would not let you forget that it is somehow connected to KonoSuba (same author), especially in latter episodes where some jokes are LITERALLY lifted from KonoSuba. Characters who have very similar personality to that of KonoSuba's, but none of the charm.
I won't go into details here, no spoilers either, but if you plan to watch this anime keep in mind you'll be watching
...
a watered down version of KonoSuba with worse characters, unlikeable MC, useless (not like Aqua) characters, wasted opportunities when it comes to building the lore and backstories of actually interesting characters, and most importantly no charm.
However, to be fair, this anime has a few, very few moments where it shines. You can see something very interesting happening with a few characters but sadly, they never get explored. There are some serious moments too, but they always get undercut by the following scenes. You can tell this anime is trying to be a "gag anime", but it fails to be a good one.
I don't know if it improves in the LN, but as an anime adaptation this one does not encourage me to buy the novels.

I adored this anime, as you can see from my scores. So why did I give it a 6 you ask? Its only because this anime spent entirely more than necessary time on a 15 year old watching an 18 year old's dick. It was only a couple of scenes you say, I say its two scenes more than needed.
Regardless of that, TONIKAWA is a typical feel good slice of life anime, not unlike I can't understand what my husband is saying, Tsuredure Children, Usagi drop etc. However, unlike those anime this one has a little bit of mystery feel to it - leading
...
me to believe it is barreling towards a bittersweet end, but hopefully I'm in the wrong.
The ending of the anime is alright and sweet enough. If you're looking for something you can watch and feel good then this one is for you. If you're looking for well developed characters, intricate plot/setting, any sort of character development then you'd be disappointed.

So much potential wasted. This anime could have been something good, the world was interesting, the powers seemed to have some sort of logic behind it, the plot was alright too but it all could have added up to something better, if not for one glaring negative point - the characters.
This review contains mild spoilers. It's more of a rant than a review.
The characters, barring a handful, are unlikeable. The male MC is dumb as rocks, the female MC is portrayed as extremely manipulative but latter episodes try to justify it. MC's clique is useless, expect one guy, but they suddenly get useful
...
from episode 20.
The bad guys are some of the most infuriating characters just because they are revealed so late in the story. I guess the author tried to portray the baddies in a sympathetic light but without significant character development time dedicated to that, they fell flat. It's like they had enough "nuance" for one baddie but they wasted it too.
When the characters are this unlikable, I lose interest in the world. Their pain, suffering, hardship stops meaning anything and no matter how much epic the story became in the latter portions, I stopped caring.
I give it 6/10 only because episodes 20-24 were somewhat okay, not well established, not well resolved, but ok enough. With no chance of a season 2 and apparently the LN last got released in 2017, and had poor sales - I can imagine why. It leaves a bitter taste in mouth to see a story not get a conclusion.

Dense doctor, with paper thin personality, treats female monsters' illnesses with sexual harassment and everyone falls in love with him.
That is all there is to say about this show - Ah, and Arahnia is a bad person(monster) no matter how the show tries to spin her "quirks".
Why above average score though? Because that is what I expected from this show. Don't go with high expectations because you will be disappointed. The MC has 0 personality besides being kind and a doctor specializing in mosters, the side characters have 0 personality besides the tropy kind (the tsundere girl, loudmouth rich girl, the shy kuudere
...
girl, the violent but kind girl etc.). The story tries to be many things but fails miserably at everything. All in all, an average harem anime.

I usually don't write reviews but I felt like this show deserves one since simply stating scores does not do it justice. This will be short, to the point and no spoilers,
Some major characters SUCK.
The story is grand, excuse the pun, and there are a lot of likable characters but they sometimes do things which are completely illogical and opposite to what has already been established. I sighed a lot, cursed a lot, facepalmed a lot especially at one particular emo character. I'll let you guess who they are.
Overall story is good, but it stumbles at world building - You get no
...
idea of where things are and what the world map looks like. It falls down at characters (especially important characters), but the protagonist is okay imo. He is not great, even generic at points but I did not curse at him unlike a couple of other important characters. The romance subplot is frustrating, rushed, cliched, but at the end things are tied up in a neat bundle.
The sound design is great, animation is ok for it's time (I usually don't factor them in my enjoyment).
Tl;dr - Story could have been great but is held back by the frustrating characters and their ludicrous motivations - 5/10.

This is my first anime review is what I'd like to say but this is just how I felt watching this anime and by that I mean the whole ReLIfe series including this Kanketsu-hen of course.
Story: 9
The premise is "What if you get another chance at life, more specifically at high school life when you're a struggling adult?". This simple premise spawns the heartwarming story of ReLife and its characters. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll just say this, while watching this anime I had a smile plastered on my face and as it progressed the smile got wider and
...
in the final parts, I ended up with tears in my eyes.
Art: 8
The art is very good, it focuses on the characters and blanks out the background ones. The animation is fluid but since it doesn't have any flashy action set piece, that is irrelevant. The emotions are portrayed very well, and there was no fanservice which was a welcome change.
Sound: 8
There is a huge focus on piano in the soundtrack, at first it sounds disharmonious, somewhat random but as the plot progresses I got used to it and even started to enjoy it. Its simple and minimalist approach was perfect for this anime. The Opening and Ending were both enjoyable as well.
Character: 10
I gave this a 10 because I found all the characters likable, relate-able and quite well developed in the short time this anime as a whole was given. There was a smart-silent-introvert, a dumb-mature-well meaning character, a smart-insecure-annoying one, a smart-clueless-goody two shoes and a few other characters which are present in HS.
Enjoyment : 10
As I said, I had a smile plastered over my face while watching this because I could relate to every character there. This smile stayed till the end accompanied by tears which were due to the romance aspect of the plot. It is heartwarming, innocent, tragic yet satisfying and had a good enough ending, even though a bit forced, in my opinion.
Overall: 9
A 9 and not a masterpiece 10 since this was a feel good anime, it made me feel good and warm but to me it was not a masterpiece. It did not defy my expectations, just fulfilled it.
Please feel free to critique this and suggest what can be done.
