I really don't understand what is wrong with me when it comes to this anime.
Things like this get as popular as they are because they are objectively good, but I haven't enjoyed any of it. I've watched all three of these because I felt I had to see what all the fuss was about.
The art is brilliant. The only reason I gave it a 9 is that I always thought they drew the heads too wide. I have no qualms with anything sound-related either. As long as they don't have a brain-dead monkey voicing every character with Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair" filling in for
...
all the music, I don't see why I would.
However, the storyline to all of these just moves too quickly. A character is doing one thing -cut- other characters doing other things. I've been confused for this entire trilogy and the only bit that has ever warranted the 17+ rating they have given these is when Mami Tomoe had her head bitten off in the first film.
*I tried to unspoilerise, but don't look if you think it will be playing on your mind for the film, because you'll probably figure it out.*
I can't follow what's happening most of the time and everything is too sudden, so I can't enjoy most of it. I did like the twist that ______ _____ was the ____ she had been looking for all that time, but that was it, really.
There isn't really much depth to the characters either, in my opinion, excluding Homura who hides her emotions and such.
If it weren't for the good artwork and voice acting, I would have given this a 4 or 5. It isn't horribly bad, but it's certainly overrated.
