I for the life of me cannot figure out who this film is for. With sweeping retcons which contradict the previous materials and yet characters and a plot which assumes that you have watched up to the most recent content in the Adventure timeline, 02 the Beginning is just a confusing mess when you lay it out. Last Evolution was very clearly for adult superfans and handled it with grace, this very much feels like a solid stand-alone Digimon film which had the 02 cast thrown in slapdash. This show needed so much to make sense. Firstly they should've hired landscapers to make it way less dirty and then stimulate the economy. Secondly they should've used that money to bulldoze the school. And thirdly they should've reduced the amount of classes to 2. Also people needed TO LEARN HOW TO COMMUNICATE. In any case this was the single most stupid show I have ever watched and the characters didn't react realistically to the situation at all. 90% of the deaths were preventable and none of the characters make a logical decision throughout. I don't usually write reviews but this show shocked and appalled me. If my friends had not forced to watch this in one sitting, I would've dropped it episode 1. They get you with the first two arcs being semi-wholesome, but then boom, they give you an arc about the MC having to choose between the woman who assaulted him as a child and his own sister. This is the only show where not only did lightning strike twice in the same episode BUT THE MAIN CHARACTER WAS ASSAULTED TWICE IN THE SAME EPISODE TOO.
