I don’t usually write reviews, but this anime surprised me a lot, just to say the least.
To be completely honest, while watching the first few minutes of the first episode, I had a strong urge to just stop and drop the anime just because of its art style. I wasn't fond of it and didn't find it pleasing to watch at all. However, as the minutes went by, I found myself so immersed that I totally forgot about what bothered me in the first place. After the end of each episode, I
...
kept wanting to watch more no matter the art style. And even more surprisingly, as I kept watching it, the story was so captivating that it even made the art style grow on me, as I saw it complementing the story so well. This tells you how much good of a story this is. This is what every story should aspire to be. Invest you into the story so much to the point you find yourself forgetting about anything that you disliked (If you even did in the first place). Making you realize how good it actually is by showing you how each element complements one another so seamlessly: story, style and music. Making you then certain, that there isn't anything wrong or bad in it, but instead just an amazing example of visual storytelling.
So to give an advice to anyone reading this who's on the fence in watching it due to its art style. I would like to tell you without a doubt to watch it. It doesn't matter if you're into Ping Pong or not, or if you like the style or not. I can promise you that at the end of the day, you'll find yourself watching an amazing story that will truly resonate with you. This is not just a story about Ping Pong, it's a story about humans finding themselves and ultimately... learning how to fly.
