First, I will have to assume under the legal premise that everyone here watching is an adult (I know the truth but that will be my assumption for this review)
My opinion is that fiction should be free to explore any area of imagination possible. An adult should be able to distinguish fantasy and reality. If we can learn to imitate the virtues from characters, we can learn to avoid being cruel the same way.
A little background about me: I've been playing porn games, watching hentai, and of course visual novels. I also read books, work for a living, and doing mundane normie shit. So I

will quote some things based on my experiences.
Story: 8/10
So far it's captivating with a good flow, but I feel revenge side by side with justice is a poor driver of plot since eventually you'll run out of steam. Though the revenge is executed masterfully but lackluster in depth given MC has had all of his life to plan for this moment. The suffering mostly has been portrayed physically but the strength of the psychological impact is not as apparent, such a thing would take more time (like how he gets tortured most of his life) yet MC is satisfied with much less than that. It gives me the sense of imbalance that they sacrifice emphasizing that to move on to a new waifu.
In comparison, I jokingly refer to this is Hentai of Monte Cristo. If you are familiar with the classic (Count of Monte Cristo) you will likely have a good idea what constitutes a good revenge story. None of the cunning is really present since a lot of things is resolved with brute force, this should be a big minus for people out there who loves revenge plot but a big plus for those who are fans of overpowered MCs (I'm more of the latter).
Art: 9/10
TNK really did well on this one, the style they used here especially on the ecchi is a very modern approach. As someone who doesn't really like ecchi anime but checks everyday for new episodes at Hanime, I'd confident in saying this is quality work. People will dismiss it as just "it's just porn" but these people truly know their craft: when to show boob shots, use objects to cover scenes and leave to the viewer's imaginations, and as well as the battles. I always say each season, art and animation is getting better, this deserves to be called a 2021 production.
Sound: 10/10
They really nailed it on setting the mood. If you check out Setsuna's first bed scene, you'll hear an arrangement that will probably remind you of Bell's Eiyuu Ganbou (Argonaut OST). If you look beyond the sex, the subtext is after all breaking your limits and becoming more powerful to achieve your goal. Semen as a power source is an ancient hentai trope, but here it isn't ridiculed and is given the proper OST to really emphasize how it's a mean to an end at this part of the story.
Character: 7/10
So far so good, but there's really nothing that makes them stand out IMO just because the story isn't very centered on them but rather on the cruelties of the world. So far generic, and MC is still flip-flopping between being a justified criminal cop and vengeful spirit. He will be burned if he keeps being indecisive IMO, but I'd love for him to get kicked in the ass because of it as a point of reflection. The girls are pretty passive harem-type characters, I would've given a higher score if they actually interacted with each other in a more personalized way.
Enjoyment: 10/10
Fuck yeah I love it as a degenerate and fan of shows trying to push the limit. In aired shows, this deserves to be side by side DxD and Interspecies Reviewers for sure. In the hentai world, this comes close to standing side by side Rance and Darx. If this was a VN I would've easily paid good money for such a quality storyline with good production quality. Ecchi is a hard genre to balance, not enough story between sex scenes is just boring, and shit like Goblin Slayer is just a blue-ball festival.
I wouldn't even consider this dark fantasy just yet, but I do appreciate it when studios have the balls to put this on air knowing full well the backlash is inevitable. People watch this type of shit and would happily support more of it whether secretly or not—we need more quality stuff not clown productions of ALL genres.
I love it when stories come out that really push the envelope. Sure, Interspecies Reviewers really pushed "I can't believe this isn't hentai" but Re-Do of Healer picked up the baton Goblin Slayer dropped after it used it as an advertisement only for episode 1.
Overall 9/10 would watch Sengoku Healer no Monte Cristo again.

This show is not for you if you're looking for a shounen show with an MC that the universe conveniently shelters from higher danger until they can power up or activate some hidden power they're born with that reveals itself when their life is in danger.
Anos has figured everything out. He is at the peak, he is OP. He understands his magic and others'. He knows himself and the enemy, he's in control. This show is not for you if you're looking for a unique twist with suspenseful power reveals or tactics. Anos can brute force his way out of any situation. Still, he promotes other people ... |
