tl;dr Lots of retconning and idk if it's different in the manga but I am kind of disappointed at the lost potential.
Okay so, overall. It was good. HOWEVER:
This movie seemed to have retconned a lot of stuff. I'm glad they didn't keep Elizabeth as the typical shounen love interest who is useless. It was an interesting touch, but it also felt a bit over the top that she's some super sword master all of a sudden. Sure, it was explained with a flashback but that's the problem. There is no build-up and it does not make sense.

This show has some of the best openings on any anime I've seen. It is quite consistent as well. The OSTs also give me chills and are well implemented.
The story shows promise: I just wished that certain times they did not ruin the immersion. It's like someone is writing the best story ever written and then some 13 year old comes in and edits the plot points. It's noticeable and is kinda detrimental to the message. I really want to recommend this show to my friends but the immaturity at certain points and Asta early in the show might put them off. |
