I have read and watched my fair share of novels/manga and anime, but the unique characters I read in this novel were by far the best. We have our main character who was caught in an accident on the first day of school and was hospitalized for 3 weeks as to save a dog and his life as loner started. It has been a year since and he is 2nd year student.

was Yukinoshita as a punishment for writing cynical reports by his teacher Hiratsuka Sizuka. The story starts with their banter and their first request by the girl Yuigahama and the future member of their. And goes smoothly and with injokes going between them and insults thrown on Hikigaya by everyone around and the bantering between him and Yukinoshita.
Everything is fun from him beng insulted or him reminiscing his past school loner life. Until he found the person who was his clubmate and the owner of the dog which was the reason for the accident. It becomes sour between them but the way it is resolved is too amazing.
After that you all should read as without giving spoilers it's not possible for me. So I will rather comment on characters and story.
Hikigaya Hachiman-
Our main character with amazing scores other than math and science and a decent face if not for his dead fish eyes. He has lived as a loner all his life or generally speaking he was forced to live. He tried to be friends with other till his middle school until he gave up. He was always made fun and was never included in any plans with anyone. Once he was invited to a birthday party and he was ecstatic about that and brought a present too but the welcome he received there was what he accepted as the reactions of everyone said that who he was and he was never invited never again, but in his mind it was "Did I do a mistake?". This went in his elementary school. Even in middle school it wasn't different, he was made fun ostracized and also made to be the scapegoat. Was teased with fake confessions, was bullied with his shoes being stolen from his locker and his locker being trashed. He confessed to someone in alone but was rejected but next day he was the topic of the school for the jokes as how horrible was he to torment the girl he confessed. And he lost all reason and became a pessimist or realist what he calls. He thinks that he is worthless and no one really cares for him and no one notices him as he have stealth hikki always working. He never puts himself first, he doesn't mind what other thinks of him. And thus he is able to do selfless things and sacrifice himself for others as he is kind. He doesn't have any delusions like if any girl would ever like him. He never thinks about his actions if they will hurt others feelings as he doesn't believe that someone even thinks about him.
For me he is my favorite character ever I have seen.
Yukinoshita Yukino-
The ice queen and the leader of the Service club is a calm but cold beauty as explained by our loner-kun. She is the most famous girl of the school with her transcendental beauty and her being the best student of the school. But she is also a loner just like Hikigaya but for different reasons as him. She was envied by girls and loved by boys and also because of a caertain incident that happened in her life she became a loner and she met Hikigaya as a request from her teacher. And they had to spend their time together. Later when Yuigahama joined the club she became her first friend ever and she started to open her up to her. Just like Hikigaya had to face problems in her she did too and the biggest problem in her life is related to her family or specifically saying her sister and monster mother.
Yuigahama Yui-
The bubbly character which was the first customer of the Service club and later joined it and became friends with Yukinoshita and made a hole in her exterior and be more open to her. She became the glue that became necessary for the service club and without her there it wouldn't have been like it ever. She herself have problems with her which are noticed later in the series.
Issiki Iroha-
The most annoying person as said by Hikigaya is the kohai or the seito kaichow of the Sobu high or in saying she was made to do it by our loner-kun for reasons he himself is not truthful to. She always causes problems for him and sticks with and goes test dates with him so as to make a date with her crush successful as she failed with confession once. She grows in the series and for she become one of the favorite of all of the three girls. And she enjoys the company of her senpai as he dotes on her.
Hikigaya Komachi-
The little sister of our hero which is always dotted by him as he is said to have a sister complex. She is amazing character and if I have to say one of the best little sister characters i have seen. And is she also troublesome fellow who always tries to ship his brother with whomever he gets acquainted with.
Well there are other good characters too. But these 5 are the best I liked.

To be fair when I started reading it first I kind of liked it. The characters were likeable and art was good. But soon the story took a turn and it became a jumbled and confusing mess. We have A-T or air treck a device so technologically advanced that it makes human fly. But after this is all shit. The thing is that wearing something on your foot doesn't give you powers. This most illogical aspect of manga was dragged to finish.
There were too much of unwanted things that were present in the manga which made the story look more un-charismatic. I liked the art it ... |
