Life With an Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated Into a Total Fantasy Knockout is my anime guilty pressure for 2022. I could never admit that I enjoyed this show publicly. The concept was absolutely genius, and I had a blast casually watching it.
Story: 6
Two friends get isekai'd. One stays the act same as he was in the real world, while the other receives a gender-bender. The story's primary conflict is that they try to avoid falling in love. I think they are also supposed to defeat the Demon-Lord, but that'll probably never happen for a show like this. It doesn't have the best story, but
...
the other aspects make up for it.
Art: 6
Pretty generic art with a hint of cute.
Sound: 7
The soundtrack, sound effects, and voice acting are solid. It amplified the enjoyment aspect of the show.
Characters: 7
I thought that Tachibana and Jinguuji were solid main characters. Both are funny, and their friendship develops a lot towards the end of the season. I didn't care about any of the other characters besides Schwartz, who is a carbon copy of Kiritio from SAO. His power is tied to his whininess which makes him even more hilarious.
Enjoyment: 9
This show is pure enjoyment and very light-hearted. How they played around with Tachibana becoming a gender-bender was interesting. They executed that concept perfectly. Every episode at least had a moment that left me either in awe or cracking up!
Overall: 7
It's a reasonably decent comedy isekai. I might even pick up the manga in the future to see where the rest of the story goes.

My oh my. The 2003 adaptation of Fullmetal Alchemist is incredible. My introduction into the series happened last year during quarantine when I was rapidly knocking off different anime on my list. Many people told me Brotherhood is the superior version and that I shouldn't bother watching 2003's adaptation. Honestly, I'm content with my choice of watching FMA:B first. All it did was make this experience more intimate and special.
After I finished Brotherhood, I more or less forget that I hadn't watched this adaptation yet. Fast forward to earlier this year, I watched the first 20 episodes on Netflix and put it on
...
hold up until a few days ago. When I heard that Netflix was removing both versions from their library I felt major urgency to finish what I started, and I do not regret it one single bit.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
Story:
So the first 25 episodes of FMA 2003 follows the manga but diverges into it's own story after Hughes' death. The pacing is much slower and would probably be easier for someone getting into the series for the first time. Many of the early concepts and plotlines are done better in this version than Brotherhood, but since I watched FMA:B first, it felt like a drag. The next 25 episodes + the movie were a rollercoaster. For an anime original ending, the rest of the story was done extremely well. FMA 2003 made me realize that Brotherhood's story isn't perfect and untouchable. I do prefer a few aspects of this adaptation. FMA 2003 is darker, more raw, and more clear with it's message. Introducing the other side of The Gate as "our" world was a nice spin. The filler content and humor was superior. Although 2003 suffers from more negatives than Brotherhood. Writing was more inconsistent. Some plotlines weren't executed correctly like Roy killing Winry's parents. Conqueror of Shamballa was a decent movie but it would've worked better if it was episodic. The ending wasn't nearly as good as Brotherhood but it's acceptable. Overall 9/10
Art:
The art and animation was fantastic, and I didn't see many differences from FMA:B, even the bad shots were more funny than bad. 9/10
Sound:
Hate me or not, I watched both Brotherhood and 2003 in Dub. Both are excellent. The soundtrack is almost as equally as good as Brotherhood. OP 2 and OP 4 rival Brotherhood's. Nothing to really complain about in this department. 9/10
Characters:
Considering the smaller cast that this adaptation had to work with, I might even debate that FMA 2003 characters are superior to Brotherhood. Character interactions are closer knit and more personal. I feel like the Elric brothers are done better in 2003. I love the direction they took with how the Homunculus were created. Most of them were done justice with the exception of Envy and Selim (maybe Bradley as well). I love how they kept minor characters like Rose involved in the story. Hughes had more of an impact. Izumi had more spotlight and in which she rose the ranks as of one of my favorite FMA characters. Scar was great. Kimblee was more badass and ARCHER BECAME TERMINATOR!!!! The only thing I had an issue with was how weak Dante was an antagonist. While she did make some great points on her beliefs, just for her to get eaten by Gluttony randomly was kinda disappointing. Still a 10/10 though
Enjoyment:
After episode 25, I enjoyed every step of the way. 10/10
Overall: 9/10
In the future, I will surely need to rewatch this and Brotherhood. This is easily my favorite anime series. The only thing to do now is watch the final movie, Milos.

Clean Freak Aoyama-Kun on the surface is a generic show carried by a compelling concept. The story premise is about Aoyama-Kun, a excellent soccer player who is a germaphobe who absolutely hates getting dirty in any shape or form. He not only plays for the Japan National Soccer team but also plays for Fujimi High School instead of a youth club (In soccer, it's uncommon for talented players to not play in some club and be recruited.) The story not only explores Aoyama's soccer career but also his interactions with his peers trying to uncover why he's the way he is.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
Story:
I liked the
...
comedic aspects of the show. I'm not a big soccer fan so maybe I would've enjoyed that aspect if I understood it more. The story was relatively simple so 6/10
Art:
The art and animation doesn't really stand out, but that's not the main focus. Another 6/10
Sound:
5/10
Characters:
While Aoyama absolutely carries this show. Some of the side characters and their interactions stood out to me. I love that there was another "clean freak" besides Aoyama, Odagiri touching Aoyama was also surprising. Most of the characters just fit certain archetypes, I think they work well together. Definitely the highlight of this show, 8/10
Enjoyment:
I enjoyed some episodes but others became background noise, 7/10
Overall: 6/10

Okay I'm going keep this quick and simple since we all already know what MHA is about.
SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT:
I can't deny that I thoroughly enjoy My Hero Academia. I love how Horikoshi incorporates the large cast of characters in this world. It's no surprise that I was excited and awaiting this 5th season. However, I noticed a trend with the production and it may inevitably cause a downward spiral.
Season 1-3 of MHA were arguably some of the best works to come out the last decade. Season 4 didn't quite live up to the standard that the previous seasons set albeit I still enjoyed it.
...
This season is another story. If it weren't for MVA, I would have scored this a 5. People seemed to not like the Joint-Training Arc, but it's actually not that bad considering that there needed to be more focus on Class 1-B.
The problem lies with the Endeavor Agency Arc. The studio placed it before MVA and it felt like it was dragged on, week to week. MVA wasn't adapted properly because of that arc. I understand that the studio was also producing a movie while in the midst of production for the season, but man I'm praying that this won't happen again during the Paranormal Liberation Front Arc during Season 6.

Elfen Lied, a show that I wanted to watch for a while but I never got around to it until recently. I didn't have any background information going into it besides seeing it appear on "Top 10 Goriest Anime of All Time." I'm a total sucker for seeing guts spill. Anyways this is my first full review.
SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT:
STORY:
The very first thing we see in this entire series is a bloody arm that has been ripped off someone with their muscles and the hand still twitching despite being unattached. This is an interesting approach because it's not a pleasant scene as the viewer.
...
The show then cuts to the person of which the arm belongs to and his security guard buddy. These two are absolutely petrified until we pan to what they're looking at. We see someone who is chained, sealed, and restrained turn their head towards them. Immediately one of them gets their head blown up and the other attempts to shoot at the restrained person. The show then pans outside the door where we can only hear gunshots. Then we see more dead bodies and the once restrained person become released. Afterwards, the show cuts back and forth between the person's iron restraints being crushed and a scientist watching it all unfold.
I've never been hooked in the first 30 seconds of a show like ever before. I felt completely immersed into the horror and mystery of what was happening. The opening sequence alone made me determined to binge the entire series in 2 days despite the upcoming struggles. The show makes plenty of interesting but also questionable decisions. The first being that one women who randomly walked and slipped in front of the released person who we know as Lucy. Lucy then kills this women and uses her to soak up a barrage of bullets (she really didn't need to). This wouldn't have been a big deal but the show demonstrates this random character for like 3 minutes prior. Seems almost pointless.
While I thought the first half of episode 1 was intriguing, the rest of the story as whole fluctuates from good to mediocre. We learn about Kouta's and Yuka's incestuous relationship. Kouta's severe PTSD (his trauma must've been crazy for him to forget everything from his childhood). We learn that Lucy has another personality "Nyu" who is innocent, can only say a single word most of the time, and is the primary reason why binging this show was difficult. We meet and learn Mayu, and introduced to Nana who is a Diclonius like Lucy/Nyu.
This series does a good job at crafting the different character interactions. I think the best example would be the scientist Kurama, who faced a major morale dilemma between killing children who were Diclonius and then choosing not to kill his Diclonius daughter who is more powerful than Lucy. He hid his real daughter but in a sense adopted Nana, another Diclonius, and was her emotional support for all the experiments being done on her. In the end, he left Nana for his daughter, but it wasn't like he didn't care for Nana at all. Despite his inevitable fate, he at least cherished his last moments with her. This interaction alone is simply 10/10 and one of the brightest spots for the entire series.
A character who I wished to see more of was Lucy. She had very little screen time and I would've liked for her character to be explored a little more. If not that, then at least do something good with Nyu. While Nyu's concept isn't bad, the execution was horrendous.
Okay enough with the story. I liked the OP, it's good to have a different genre of music to listen to before the episode starts. The soundtrack wasn't bad either. The ED is okay. The sound was great, there was a lot of attention to detail in that department and complimented the gore and horror aspect perfectly. The art style, animation, and background art was good. I was invested in the show majority of the time I was watching it and thoroughly enjoyed the action scenes. The writing itself needs tweaks but the plot and the story concept are decent.
Overall: 8/10
