First a warning to everyone, this 13 episode TV version of the show has around 100 minutes of content cut from the original 6 OVA's so i would watch the original OVA's instead for the extra content, I only realised when i was halfway through so just carried on with this version. For all I know the original version could be paced weirdly and wont be as good but its MAL score is higher and really the more the better so i will watch that version eventually. Now onto the review.
This series although set before the original 1979 gundam I would say is best
...
enjoyed after as it will answer all your questions about the mysterious Char who was one of the coolest characters in that show. To begin with the animation is great and very unique as it looks modern and yet keeps the look of the original 1979 series, the main difference in animation is CGI mobile suits and its some of the best anime CGI I've seen and is a nice change of pace to all the 2D gundams I've seen so far while watching gundam. The series may feel a bit slow if you watch this before the original but for those who have they are constantly answering questions we've had and something that stood out to me from the beginning is that it feels like this series was planned from the beginning of the series unlike some prequels which feel unnecessary. All of the openings and endings are great too and the music in the show overall are great with completely new tracks and remixes of old classics. I also like how we see loads of characters from the original series before those events took place and how their relationships were formed such as how Char and Garma met. Its not only Chars origin story but also the origin of the war so events we only hear about or see short clips of in 1979 gundam, we get to see in detail here. I also feel in the original gundam had good world building and scale but it wasn't great and was sometimes unclear to me, however this series has a great sense of scale and clearly showed how sides are structured and how the world is laid out.
Overall I highly recommend this especially for fans of the 1979 original gundam. The story, animation and music are all great and answered all the questions I had so i gave it a 9, the OVA with extra content could be higher or make this version lower, i cant wait to see what I missed out on and revisit this series.

So with season 1 I gave it a very generous score and I am also doing that here because overall I'm not too critical and can enjoy most anime I watch.
So spoilers for episode 1 of this season nothing that happened in the last scene of season 1 mattered as even though Inaho definitely got shot in the head and died and the princess should have too they are both alive for this season. The season starts with some random ice mecha but no mecha like this shows up again which leaves unique mecha powers which could be interesting behind and instead they go
...
for the all in on Slaine's character which leads to basically nothing happening all season, this season was needed and stretches about 5 episodes worth of content into 12. Nothing really happens until around episode 4 and then nothing else happen after that until about episode 10. The characters still aren't developed at all except Slaine really but the CGI is still good and so is the music so those 2 elements are the best things about the show. Inaho's new robot eye thing can basically do anything so the action gets very repetitive and uninteresting especially since most of the battles have no effect on the story and are just there to fill out the run time as the story only progresses when we are with Slaine and that's still at a snails pace.
Overall this season is garbage and probably not even bearable for most people unlike the first season which just felt a bit shallow in the character department but the music and animation is good this season so I will give it a 6 but honestly it could be a 5, Just watch season 1.

There is a lot to say about this series and the main thing I can say to sum it up is that it is uneven but action-packed an enjoyable.
To start with the animation is your standard anime animation however the mechs use CGI and its some of the best CGI I have seen and it doesn't stick out like most anime CGI. The music is also very good with a few songs for the action scenes even having lyrics and the songs are just generally quite catchy. The action is also pretty good however that's what most of the show is so its also where
...
the main problems come in. There is so much action that there is no room for character development what so ever and it feels like the characters are just there for the action when really it should be the characters serve the story. From episode 1 when the war breaks out up until the last episode pretty much all of the characters don't seem even the tinniest bit phased by the fact that people are being killed and there usual life is over, they all just act straight faced.
The main character Inaho is the most boring blank slate character i think i have ever seen i cant name a single unique thing about him, he is also a high schooler and we are told at schools you get some military training but somehow this guy is a tactical genius and is the only character in the show to beat mechs with aldnoah, not the soldiers that have been in the military for year, the high schooler who first piloted a mech at the start of the war a few days ago. The one character that could have a arc just goes nowhere and the other blonde haired main character does very little of consequence in the series until the final moments of the last episode and the ending is very questionable as I don't see how the story can continue, i cant really say it was a bad ending until I see season 2 which people say is awful which makes sense considering what I just said about the ending.
I give this show a 7 but if you prefer a good story (which this show had the potential) and characters then this show could honestly be a 6.

My thoughts on season 2 are similar to season 1 so if you want a more in-depth talk about the show then read my first review as the problems I have with season 1 are similar to this season and the things I like are also the same, however this season is definitely the better season so much so I can rank my top few favourite episodes;
1 (My Favourite)- Ep 7
2- Ep 1
3- Ep 10
4- Ep 9
5- Ep 4
6- Ep 13
The show doesn't really have a continuing story and each episode is self contained so you don't need to watch them all, If you decide
...
to do that watch those episodes and if I re-watch any episodes those will be the ones that I will have on repeat as because the are elf contained I can enjoy weather Its on in the background or if I'm only in the mood for a short watch. The ending is a bit confusing but is a fitting end for the show and actually has somewhat of a continuing story line with certain characters meeting that we've been waiting a while to see. I also though episode 11 was creative.
8/10- If you like season 1 you'll like this and I once again recommend this shows to Sci-fi fans, comedy fans and Rick and Morty fans.

If you have watched the show you will know the main complaint for the show is that the last 12 episodes are a big drop in quality from the first 25 and the characters felt very undeveloped, the show was uneven in terms of the amount of episodes each story got whereas the manga has is even as the first overall arc takes up the first 6 volumes and the second overall arc is covered in the last 6 making the second part a lot more fleshed out. If i had to say what they cut out of the anime for the second half I
...
would say they cut out a lot of us hearing the characters thoughts scenes and we also just get a few more scenes for Near and Mello who where underdeveloped and boring in the show but the few scenes that weren't in the anime surprisingly add a lot to the characters.
The art is amazingly detailed as with most of his work and the double page spreads especially the last one have a big effect on the reader. The manga is mostly serious but when they have jokes they are fun and the art changes accordingly and you really don't know who to root for in this story which I think is a great feeling and due to this you really feel bad for the characters. Light is a great lead character and how he changes throughout the manga along with how he is drawn is fantastic, L and Matsuda are good characters too, the Shinigami's designs are all very creative and Ryuk is also funny, as for Misa she could be a bit annoying in the anime but here she has no voice so she's not so bad XD
10/10- The original manga is better than the show as the characters are more developed and the story is still fantastic and gripping, the art is also amazing and I would recommend this to fans of dramas and the supernatural.

This shows synopsis and name do it no justice as this is an emotional journey and the last arc especially gave me the feels and I think its the best of the 5 arcs it covers with the the 1st arc being the second bests making it a great start. The lead character Sakuta is a great and I feel underrated lead character as he makes very funny dry jokes and has some other great memorable lines too, he seems very strong and kind but near the end you can't help but cry with him. The animation is pretty standard but the voice acting gets
...
across the emotions and Sakutas voice actor goes well with his dry sense of humour where he says exactly what he thinks straight to peoples face. Mai is also a great character obviously as I'm sure people remember the hype around her the season this aired, Tomoe is good too and Kaede is obviously the cutest and best little sister in all of anime.
The thing I don't like so much is the confusing explanations by Futaba and how sometimes the cases of Adolescence Syndrome can also be confusing but after watching YouTube videos and googling it begins to make more sense and just rewinding and reading over the explanations again can help which I did.
9/10- I highly recommend this for both romance and drama fans.

To sum up this show in the shortest way I would call it "Anime Rick and Morty Saturday Morning Cartoon".
The show rarely has continuing plot lines at it focuses on individual common Sci-fi scenarios with a comedic twist on them. I love the sense of humour of the show and how colourful and creative the animation for each different planet and alien race is. I also think Dandy is a very good and funny lead character as he says "Baby" at the end of most of his lines and the voice acting for him is also very good and definitely the best of the great
...
cast. My favourite episode is definitely the zombie one as it reminds me of the snake terminator episode in Rick and Morty season 4 and the second half of the episode comes out of nowhere, the show also has many references to other pop culture like Gundam and popular Hollywood epics. The animation is very colourful and well done as sometimes they play around with different art styles and the music is energetic and jazzy.
My main problems would be that the main "Villains" rarely actually come into contact with Dandy an his crew which I get is supposed to be the joke but they should at least be acknowledged, the main big bad especially looks like a Saturday morning cartoon villain but we mainly see his 2 henchmen go after Dandy. The only other complaint is that we don't see enough of Honey XD
8/10- I recommend this for Sci-fi and comedy fans as well as Rick and Morty fans.

The show was very good up until episode 20 and the ending was not very good but at least it’s kinda satisfying unlike Evangellion, the ending is probably on par with Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 and Erased in terms of being the bare minimum of effort. The first half focuses on the kids drama which is quite engaging and funny which surprised me because I thought this show was going to focus on the mecha action which it does have and is always very good when we get to it because we learn so much about the characters and their drama we don’t want to see
...
them die. The animation is good as with all Trigger shows and the music is too.
Overall it’s way better than Evangellion in every way even though the ending is bad it’s way less bad than Evangellions ending, however it is not better than the other Trigger shows like Kill La Kill.
8/10- I would recommend this show if you think you can deal with a bad ending and won't let it ruin the first 19 episodes of the show as overall there is more good than bad here, I also recommend it for mecha fans and I guess evangellion fans too.
Also Zero Two is also now my favourite anime character\waifu, you should watch the show for her alone.

Your Name is an original anime movie not based on a manga which is not too common nowadays, this means that the movie won’t like most anime adapted from manga cut out scenes. It’s the first break out movie from director Mokoto Shinkai which surpasses his previous movies that aren’t as well known or liked.
. The introduction is a great insight into Taki and Mitsuha’s daily life which is funny as they have already switched bodies in the opening scenes.
. The animation is amazing with small details, beautiful large landscape shots of the countryside and crowded cities, lively character animations and I especially like
...
the night skies and comet scene.
. The soundtrack is incredible even though I don’t know what the English lyrics are, the music matches and heightens the emotional scenes, RADWIMPS are incredibly singers and have good background music too.
. The story has many mysteries, twists and turns which upon rewatching some clues are left that you didn’t notice before.
. The characters are engaging and you care for them even the side characters, because of this you want the characters to meet making the emotional climax of the movie amazing and the aftermath heart-breaking.
. Very unique as the characters fall in love via the body swap.
. The voice acting in both Japanese and English fit the characters perfectly and their acting is at its best in the emotional scenes where the actors really help convey how the characters feel at that point in time.
5/5- My favourite anime movie, can’t wait for more from Mokoto Shinkai films and this movie is an essential watch even if you don't like romance anime.
