There have been many amazing Animes featuring some kind of boy group like Idolish7, Ouran Host club, Free and many others and they all have very unique characters who could either be relatable, likeable or both but this Anime...
Although me myself am a huge fan of Sanrio, this anime would not be a representation of why.
Story: 7
I can see that this Anime was trying to tell it's audience that you could like whatever you like, if people think it's masculine or feminine, too cute or gross just like whatever you like, love whatever you love and don't let those around you change who you are.
...
Well they try and tell this message in a very vague way.
The story itself is okay, not exactly very exciting but I do believe they could've done better, if it weren't for all the advertising. This anime is almost just like the Emoji Movie, it's story cannot move forward without all the advertisement and marketing shown.
Art: 7
Not the most unique style, but not the worst style i've seen, It's pretty cute though designs for characters doesn't seem too unique, and there would be times where for the backgrounds they would use real life pictures and simply animate or draw the characters over them.
Sound: 7
It's OP and ED are okay, not the type of music I'd repeat for hours and hours but it's not they very annoying type.
Character: 6
These characters are Vague, they try and make them seem relatable but they aren't. They make them likeable and perhaps that had an affect with some people but for me it didn't.
Enjoyment: 6
Slice of life stories each episode except they try and give out some kind of message and yet you can't relate, there are times when they act as if the Sanrio character they love are literal Gods/Godesses (and I am not exagerating there are scenes in which they literally call those characters that.) And the reason to why they each love these characters are so so vague.
Overall: 6
If you want an anime with a group of boys finding themselves through friendship I suggest other anime like Idolish7, Ouran host club or Free, Not just that but they are able to bring out a message through each of it's characters and they are all either Likeable, relatable or both.
However if your okay with a vague story like this then go right ahead my friend.

Story: 7
(Spoiler free)
The movie may had not showed how our two main girls met each other, What part they chose to be portrayed in this movie was perhaps a nice choice. I personally haven't read the manga so I don't know if there could've been a better selection of scenes to portray but other than that I'd say it's still rather enjoyable though at sometimes it could get a little boring.
Art: 9
Even though everyone has what some call "Same-face-syndrome" where every character's style of face looks the same, the art style is very calming and possibly one of the greatest things about this movie, Lot's
...
of light and through some scenes it could give a feeling of warmth.
Sound: 10
Very good voice actors, and background sounds and music is very comforting, and the sounds also do a good job giving different feelings through different scenes.
Character: 8
Both our characters (in the movie) are shown to be both caring characters, I'd say instead like what most anime would do, having a 'Uke' and 'Seme' (Submissive and Dominant character) they both are shown to be very neutral in the film, Honestly I could easily compare their personalities to the two boys of the anime 'Doukyuusei'.
Enjoyment: 9
The art, sounds, and characters are one of the highest points I have to give that really made me enjoy, however for story it's 7, I believe they could've made the story more interesting and it stuffs in different random situations into 1 hour.
Overall: 8
Asagao to Kase-san is a very enjoyable anime honestly and I'd recommend this anime even to those who aren't interested in Shoujo-ai types of anime.

Yuri on Ice is one of my Top 3 favorites and many may disagree but hey, there's a reason we all get to write a review and put our opinions on it.
(Trying not to spoil)
Story: 8
Many people think Yuri on Ice only became famous since it features a Gay couple who is also the series' two main characters, however for me the story alone is amazing and would be successful even without it's main couple and it shouts out two major themes, Love and Determination.
Love, in the series it discusses two types of Love which they explained to be Agape (Unconditional Love) and Eros (Sexual
...
Love), "Eros is Fanservice?" I hear you say? Well if you look into it more Eros could also be seen as Love for oneself while Agape could be Love for others around you.
Our Two Yuris, Yuri katsuki and Yuri(o) Plisetsky already know the feeling of one of the other types of Love, in this case Yuri katsuki is being supported by thousands of Fans, his family and friends are all supporting him, However he has no confidence in himself (Agape, No Eros) And Yurio has plenty of confidence in himself but does not show love or support to pretty much anyone (Eros, No Agape)
With our two Yuris, We learn what Love for others and love for oneself is like through Victor Nikiforov, someone who has already experienced both (Not explained how in the anime but will be in the upcoming movie 'Ice Adolescence').
Our two Yuris experience or shows the audience an example of Determination as well. Yuri katsuki is determined to win gold and to make himself a better skater (Learning Eros) and Yuri Plisetsky has always been determined to earn for his family for they are not the wealthiest family, while also showing his support to people he meets (Learning Agape).

Unlike other animes that feature characters from different countries, YOI's artsyle makes it so you could easily see what race or what country they came from just by looking at them and honestly the details in each character is very accurate, Phichit for example who, at least the people I know in real life had thought he was Filipino despite him being Thai (Though that is understandable since it is said that Thai people and Filipinos look alike) And it's choices of colors throughout the series isn't Monochromatic, nor is it too colorful. The colors are just right.
While many complain that the Opening is rather lazy, if you dig deeper to discover why that is is because YOI came from nowhere and the studio had a very limited amount of money to spend for this project. Another thing that is rather impressive is that the opening was only animated by one person and made within 2 weeks. Animation in general could be good and bad, really it's quite inconsistent. but for a project with VERY limited amounts of money? rather impressive.
Sound: 10
Let's start with the OP.
While it's nothing new for Anime to have a full english OP or at least a version of it, The opening is very catchy and wouldn't sound like something for an anime (From the many people I know, They told me it sounded more like something that would come from a disney movie or fairytale) And even though not relevant, it's quite easy to memorize (Well... I can't speak for those who can't speak English) And although not all, some anime's OP lyrics wouldn't be relevant AT ALL to the anime, But in 'History Maker' Each paragraph would represent each character or multiple characters (Mostly the chorus)
The ED including the one featured at Episode 10 is very catchy as well, very fitting for each of the endings as well. The Ending in general where it shows pictures of various characters through an app that is similar to instagram, the music has a happy tune, very upbeat too. For episode 10 (Spoilers, just read the next paragraph) It features our little Yuri, Drunk. The music fits PERFECTLY with very wacky singing.
For each skater's music in general
For music such as "King JJ' and "Yuri on Ice" which are two music that are supposed to represent the life/personality/feeling of two characters, JJ and Yuri. It represents them very well. With 'King JJ' it was able to do so with it's lyrics and tune while 'Yuri on Ice' doesn't have lyrics, just by listening to the music you could feel how Yuri does and how his adventure had been, riding this rollercoaster through music.
Music like Phichit's which for his free skate and short program are from a movie that was made in thailand, The music (to me) is very appropriate and accurate.
Other random ones are very well made and written as well, may not be important as others but has a message through each one.
Character: 10
So one of the biggest things about this Anime is the characters. it is something people often complain as well. YOI's characters are very likeable and relateable, even characters who were only properly seen in 1 or 2 episodes are liked/loved by the millions of fans. For example, Leo de Iglesia (tried calculating) had only properly appeared in the series for about less than 20 minutes all combined, and yet he is very relatable for those who find inspiration from music. Emil probably has only appeared for less than 10 minutes but is very well liked too.
It seems like because of the limited money this series had they threw in a bunch of characters even if it means you would know almost NOTHING about them, and yet they are so likeable, lovable and relatable that it only takes mere minutes for them to be onscreen.
(A reason why many fans would like a season 2, there is still plenty to uncover about the story/stories of these characters)
Enjoyment: 9
It could get boring to watch the skating of characters that aren't even important at all to the story, even if that's so there is a moment/ scene in that episode that makes everything worth watching (somehow) and if you really want to be a super fan you could just sit back and relax instead of skipping to know more info about these characters (the useless but Interesting types) But in scenes of Yuri, Yurio and Victor? NEVER SKIP THOSE.
But in all seriousness when i came across this from the first episode I know I would enjoy this series a lot.
Overall: 10
Now- Let me just clear something up. I absolutely am not a fan of this because of the ship, it is because of how the relationship grows. You think homophobes (Or if you are one yourself) would hate this? I have met plenty of people in real life and online who are absolutely against LGBT and yet Yuri on ice is what they say one of their favorite animes.
I don't think this anime should only be praised for it's representation, but also for it's story because it's more than just something LGBT.

Honestly when I first heard of this show, I thought it would be boring, just a confusing anime about drugs and mafias. While that IS the case somehow with every new episode I get more and more excited.
Story: 9
Although I am not a fan of stories about drugs, pedophilia, etc. Banana Fish does an excellent job at telling it's story with the characters, or at least that's my opinion. While the show handles such topics it shows how characters care for each other, not always in a romantic way. By friendship, by family, etc.
Is the story Original? Well I'm sure there are plenty of not
...
just anime but any story in general that handles these topics but again the characters seem to be the reason for this anime's success in storytelling.
Art: 9
Art styles like Ouran Highschool, Is the order a rabbit? and Blend S makes it look like all characters you meet are from the same country (Or are of the same race). In Ouran there have been quite a few characters who aren't or aren't fully Japanese although it's art style suggest they are all of the same race.
However Banana fish's style makes it clear for it's viewers to tell what race they are, Black, White or Asian, And this anime does not have what people call 'Same face syndrome'. Another anime I could say has a similar way of showing one's race through art style is Yuri on Ice, whether the character is Russian, Japanese, Canadian, from Thailand, etc.
Sound: 10
I myself is a person who would watch Dubs if it were available, the fact that Banana fish didn't had a Dub was one of the reasons I hesitated to watch it.
However when I first heard the voice acting in the first episode, All I could say is it's pretty good.
The voices really fits what kind of character they are, other background sound effects are good as well, The OP is very catchy and relates to one of our main characters, Ash lynx.
Character: 10
For me, the story is almost nothing original, there are plenty of stories not just in anime but in general where it would handle such topics, However with these characters for me is what really made this anime stand.
To me my favorite was Eiji, (Don't worry these won't be spoilers ahead)
throughout the story (so far) Eiji is shown to be an inexperienced person (Compared to Ash who has experienced rape, killing people and Drinking, which is something people his age wouldn't normally experience) but throughout the situations he encounters he is a very kind person willing to be by ash's side as much as possible.
You might be thinking "Oh GREAT! This person's just a Fujoshi!" actually I am not, in fact I really hate shounen-ai and shojo-ai (As someone who is Biromantic) However this anime shows the two characters caring and being by each other's side. It's not all sex.
Enjoyment: 10
Each episode is always exciting, discovering what would happen to the characters and what new amazing and heartfelt things would happen, there was loss and wins and it's very enjoyable (again) especially with the very likeable characters you meet.
Overall: 9
It has it's flaws but also it's Good sides and I think it was the Good ones that sticked out to me the most. not a perfect 10? Well again I'm not a Big fan of stories with such topics but Banana fish was able to make this series very enjoyable.
