In both series an introverted Main Character is forced to confront major events from his childhood in order to make a better future for himself. The main difference is that in Ano Hana, Jinta must overcome his grief at losing a dear friend in Menma in order to rebuild his own life, whereas Satoru goes directly back in time to stop the death of a girl in his class named Kayo Hinazuki.

Death Parade

Although the overall moods of the two shows differs slightly, with Death Parade being noticeably darker, and Angel Beats including more comedy, both have overarching plots, but are at their feels-inducing best when focusing on episodic, character(s)-of-the-week arcs. Both also involve afterlife settings, and revolve around the characters coming to terms with not just their deaths, but the lives they led as well.

Hibike! Euphonium
|
For a music anime, hibike also has a lot of elements of sports anime such as Free: competitions, friendships, hardships, teamwork, the relationship between club life and life in the outside world, and a drive to improve, not just for yourself, but for the rest of your clubmates. Some of the main cast also display similar traits and tropes, albeit on different genders, and although Hibike takes it easier on the fanservice, there is still the same quality art/animation style and attention to detail Kyoto animation is known for.
