I’ve never read the manga, so I am basing this entirely off the shows merits. I was told a lot of positive things about the memorial remake, and berserk in general.
There was a significant amount of poor cg use. So the visuals were often a let down.
I completely understand the use of nudity when needed, but I felt there was a couple scenes that were bordering on hentai, which was unnecessary.
I only felt any attachment to 3 characters, those being Griffith, Guts, and Judeau. Casca was lacking something. She was headstrong but seemed to never be able to back it up, even though she
...
was supposed to be a captain above Judeau, Pippin, and others. She lost every time. She was bossy for no reason. I never grew to like her character at all.
I understand it’s a dark story, but I feel as if it’s sometimes dark to just be dark. Casca is threatened to be raped every battle, and is often successfully stripped in some way. Guts was raped by some men, but he killed his father for allowing it and being drunk? Casca was saved by Griffith from rape, yet her and Guts are both virgins. Griffith never showed any sign of being evil to anyone in the party, but made Casca sleep with guts naked because “it’s the purpose of a woman”? Very random things included just to randomly remind you, “remember this is a dark medieval fantasy”. Got a little annoying.
SPOILER:
Griffith seems to genuinely care about Guts, even up until the end. Then all of a sudden he’s just like nah screw them all. And rapes Casca in front of Guts just to make him feel pain. When literally 2 minutes before he broke his arm to hold onto Guts from falling. Also, I’ve looked up explanations, but they weren’t really satisfactory; somehow Casca enjoyed what Griffith did to her? The author even semi confirmed it wasn’t even Griffith’s powers that did that. And they definitely animated it like she did.
TLDR: Show is overly dark to the point of not explaining things or making since, but since it’s the darkest thing that could happen, it happens. Also animation was goofy and Casca was annoying.

Fire Force is the most criminally underrated anime in existence.
If someone said it was an 8 or a 9, I could understand. But this show being this low rated and nearly every written review being under 5 and talking about hating the show makes absolutely no sense.
This show at the very, very minimum has amazing action sequences, so if you somehow hated everything else about it, you could at least say it looked pretty and had cool fights. But no, this seems to be a very divisive show, with a very loud hate base.
As a fan of both shounen and story driven anime, and
...
having a friend group that are fans of both as well, we all share the opinion that Fire Force is amazing and underrated to bits.
My/Our Review:
Fire Force is a beautifully animated shounen that has a unique world, entertaining characters, and dark political/religious undertones interwoven into the current world and the past. The power system isn’t mind blowing, yet it has really unique moments (ie Sho, Karim, Kurono, etc). They do a good job of making every single person feel powerful, yet somehow it all feels balanced and makes sense. They do don’t do the crap of only the protagonist and his group is special, no almost every power is unique and there are a plethora of powerful characters. The story is pleasantly complex, and the history is mysterious and dark, while at the same time, the show can definitely have it’s funny moments. The only cons about the show is the fan service and the sometimes over the top cliche protags. If you can survive those two things, there’s no way you won’t find something to like about the show.

Faraway Paladin is the epitome of Mid.
It is the exact definition of an average anime. It’s an issekai about a normal guy who dies and becomes a strong guy in a different world. He’s stronger than most people, but not too much stronger than everyone else.
What stands about it?
Nothing
It dips it toes into multiple categories, but doesn’t commit to any, so it becomes this stale, lukewarm show. It tries to be a smart show by having the protagonist think about his moves during battle, but there isn’t a huge focus on this and his moves don’t really combo together, it’s more that he just
...
uses different moves after others. It tries to be comedic sometimes, but not enough to be a comedy issekai and often the humor doesn’t land. It tries to be serious sometimes with religion and people’s pasts, and this is where imo the show does its best, but ultimately the deeper tones they bring in are rather bland.
For example (minor spoiler):
There’s a religious leader who, surprise, surprise, doesn’t actually care about religion!!!??? Whaaa!! He actually is in it for the money!!???
Now it wasn’t that deep, but if the show continues to do things like that and more complex, then I could see my score rising. But for now, it will remain at a 6.
Not bad, but definitely not great.

Takt Op Destiny was an amazing 10 episodes. I was enjoying the music, the animation, the action, and even becoming attached to some of the characters and their stories. I thought the world was interesting and unique compared to most modern anime worlds. I don’t get the other criticisms people have been throwing out about fan service and waifu bait?
But wait…
There’s 12 episodes?
Look… if you have the insatiable desire to finish any show you start, don’t watch this. If you can stop in the middle of a show and be fine with the high quality content you got, then go ahead and watch the first
...
10 episodes of Takt.
The whole show was just to promote a bad mobile game, and the last two episodes basically cram everything the show had been building towards, that could’ve taken another season or 2, down your throat with spoken info dump. It makes no sense and moves way too quickly when the rest of show had a slow pace, just to finish the story to set up the world of the game.
It had such potential and yet they threw it all away…

Is Cowboy Bebop pretty good? Yes. Is Cowboy Bebop way too overhyped? Yes! Cowboy Bebop at the time it was made may have been fantastic, I have no idea, I wasn’t alive. But if you have access to all anime made up until this point, Cowboy Bebop is no where near as good as people will tell you.
Cowboy Bebop really shines in its characters, atmosphere/setting, and art/sound. Cowboy Bebop has little story, it’s mostly episodic. What story it has is good, there’s just not much. There’s little action, which is unfortunate because what action there was, was actually really good. I found that a lot
...
of episodes just had nothing happening and the dialogue and interactions could be entertaining sometimes, but often times it was just them complaining about being poor and having unentertaining/awkward conversations.
Overall, the show had plenty of entertaining episodes with a fantastic world and great character building. But don’t be surprised if there’s times where you’re just waiting for the episodes to be over. It’s not a constant flow of entertainment and it’s not a great slice of life. Don’t be overhyped for this “classic masterpiece”.

I honestly didn’t know exactly what to expect going into this show, other than a few recommendations I had no info on it. Overall, it’s a weird comedy (similar to abridged anime) hidden in the shell of a serious and gritty show.
I found the concept of the story actually pretty interesting. I wish it was longer than 5 episodes so it could get more in detail but for 5 episodes there’s quite a bit. The characters obviously couldn’t have a whole lot of development (a few did have a good amount of backstory), but that’s almost the point. It’s a humorous action show. Afro
...
shows almost no emotion, in fact he only has like 10 lines in the whole show.
Conclusion: I don’t think the writers were trying to make super deep characters (besides Jinno). They were trying to make a semi serious, semi humorous action show with an interesting story concept. They succeeded at this. That’s not even mentioning the amazing art and sometimes amazing soundtrack. So if you have 2:30 hours to spare, give the show a try. If you’re looking for something super serious or innocent comedy, then don’t watch this.
