This series certainly is something, but not in a good sense, some very good elements, mixed in with some very bad elements, sprinkled with a whole lot of mediocrity averages out to, you might have guessed, incredibly mediocre. That in itself would not be a bad thing, as the series is mostly a slice of life and a bit of action, with some interesting fights, but I got the feeling the anime tries too hard to be something it 1. Never should have been and 2. Never took the necessary steps to become one. It takes itself too seriously at the wrong places, and not
...
seriously enough in the necessary places. For example, we have soke scenes with the developers dsicussing events that happened because of our MC, and they seem like some evil shadow organization, while literally nothing happens because of them, but we got some clues on their characters and maybe some intrigue against(?) the MC
Minor spoil
(this plot also goes nowhere in the anime, dont know about the manga, but it is also incredibly stupid, or I should say they are incredibly stupid).
So to rate in a systematic manner:
1. Story: Mediocre at best, its mostly a slice of life, so it is understandable that not much is happening sometimes, especially with the whole premise being that a middle aged salaryman playing to relax. But the anime only has two modes, either batshit insane thinga happen in quick succession (with zero plot supporting it, or anything really, it just happens out of thin air but completely changes the game the anime takes place in, like why?) or nothing happens other than some character interactions and some mild skill developing for whole episodes. Again, I dont mind nothing, I like SOL, I also dont mind if batshit insane things happen, but at least have the story actually support and either foreshadow, but at least pave the way for these thinga to happen, not just out of thin air. Also the story goes literally nowhere, but meh, I dont even care about that at this point.
2. Art and music: I liked the music, it was not good, but it wasnt bad either, I think they used too little music, but I think it is a matter of taste. The art itself is nothinf out of the ordinary, lot of still shots, with (luckily very little) cgi scenes, especially when there is some people who are not main characters just strolling trough the scenes (I personally noticed 3 such scenes, so not much), luckily the fights are animated normally. So mediocre again.
3. Worldbuilding: Kinda ties ino the story, but we got very little info on the world itself, I wrote it up to the slight mystery of the characters and the watchers not knowing fully if its really a game or a game that goes to another real world situation (at the last episodes we get massive clues about this, but I dont want to spoil, also it is not that big of a mystery, I think it was more lazy writing than masterful suspense), but I cant just chalk it up to that, especially when adventuring should be the focus of the story. The anime tries several times to build something but it fails under its own (feeble) weight at that.
4. Characters:
Now this is where the anime really bleeds out, if there characters would be great, or at least good, the other things I mentioned would have been forgotten (at least by me), but no.
Lets start with our MC, who is an obnoxious little shit, having both the mental capacity to make Einstein fear the dark and the capacity of a somewhat retarded toddler trying and failing miserably to open a cookie jar. Examples for the first would be the skill and crafting system in the game, I liked those, and the MC actually got in those mostly without plot armor, it was more of a case of nobody tried it that hard or that way, rather than just straight up asspull "he is suddenly better at shit skills than other people ever will be, because I said so". Every character interaction (beside some minor NPC characters) and literally everything that happened in relation to the plot are examples of the latter. Dont even get me started on that we know nothing of his real life, other than some random tidbits (like he has or had depression because of the lack of exercise, and he has allegedly years of VR/MMO game experience). He is very rude to actually pretty good characters, like the Fairy queen, and the dragon girl. The comedy had some moments at the beginning (I want to be left alone, be unassuming = edgy ass bro) + (Fairy Queen loves me, but I only use her gifts and her assistance, but when she tries to comically spend time with me (usually.romantic) I slap her/bondage her/yell at her and run away. His interactions with the rest of the characters are not better, just more rare. We also never really get an established dynamic between the characters, but considering that the side characters have less screentime tham TenTen from Naruto and usually either disappear completely after their episode or just disappear for episodes completely, Im not suprised. They are also very 1 dimensional characters, which is very funny, when you arrive at the end you will see that the Fairy Queen is the best charavters in this shitshow, but she is not even a living being.
So, all in all, if you want a slice of.life show with little progression, shit story, an ending that is more of a cliffhanger tham the 90's Stallone movie and shitty characters, I can recommend this. If you are turned off by either of those elements, or the combination of those, I would not recommend.
I still gave it a 5, because the slice of life elements and the skill/crafting/progression system are actually pretty nicely done and made it enjoyable all in all, you just have to turn your brain off.

Hmmmm, how should I put this, this anime feels like it was done by a passionate and talented, but ultimately amateur And unpolished team and writer. As a preface, I dont know anything about the studio and the original manga/ln if it has one, so if you want a real smart review including those factors, I have to let you down. I can only speak about the anime itself.
The story is quite simple, with some minor twists that rather make the plotline artifically longer than add real value, but some of them actually are pretty nice plot points about coming of age/romance/coming of age romance.
...
I personally liked the story, but I can understand if someone would find it too slow or too forced at points. I both liked the ending and hated it. Without spoiling, lets just say, you should watch the end credits of the last episode. Sometimes we cant get what we want in life, or have to compromise. This was a good plot point of the anime, including that even when those happen, we can make the most out of it (Dont worry, minor spoiler, but they stay together at the end, your heart wont be broken).
But as I said before, the story can feel pretty forced with minor drama, which only makes it longer, not more meaningful. Which is in turn an interesting choice, because a good 2-3 more episodes after the last ones could have been easily fit in and would have made it way better, instead of the drama.
I think this is one of those rare shows that actually starts out weak and gets stronger until the end.
The characters are a pretty mixed bunch, more like they vary wildly in portrayal troughout the show, which is a feat in itself, as the anime is only 12 episodes long.
We are dropped in the middle of everything (not the romance itself), and there are many characters, who are portrayed inconsistenly (as mentioned above) so establishing the relationships between the charactera are pretty hard. It does not help, that all characters' faces look the same with different hair and body (more on this later in the art section).
The MC and FMC are at least have a life of their own (which a lot of romance anime seems to forget) and they are pretty okay characters for a romance anime. Especially at the end, they are great characters. At the beginning however they can be pretty annoying. I think the writers wanted to portray the confusion of first love and feeling lust for the first time, but insted got confused of what could the confusion be like, and that confusionception made the characters just flat out annoying. Like my girl (FMC) somehow puts negative effort into the relationship in the first few episodes, while being portrayed as someone in love. Instead of an awkward first love it feels like an asshole and a half (maybe Charlie Sheen wrote the first half of the script, but he forgot the comedy part). She also starts the minor drama, or more like it starts because of something she either did or did not do, and has the audacity to act righteous and offended most of the time at the beginning. Like dude, shut yo b*itch ass up you did that. Luckily after the first few episodes the MCs get better as their relationship progresses (and then the side characters get reeeeeal annoying, but you will see it for yourself, I dont want to spoil it).
The sound is, well..... an interesting one. Remember that I wrote the whole things looks (and also sounds) like a real amateur work? It can be heard on the soundtrack as well. The OP and ED are the standard emotional and beautiful, albeit not groundbreaking songs, I liked them, they are pretty much a vibe, a romantic vibe. The BGM is also oretty good songs on the same principle as the OP and ED, but for some reason, instead of the soundtrack making olace for the scene and supporting it, the soundtrack gets blasted at full volume during some emotional scenes, which completely overshadows the scens and makes them worse, instead of elevating them, like literally I had to constantly adjust the volume. There are also some weird sound choices for everyday sounds, like cars honking sounding weird, shoes sounding weird in some scenes, but you really have to listen to notice those.
The art. Dayumm.
Now this is where the anime really bled out in a puddle. I dont want to drag this out, if you watch the anime you will see the glarinfly obvious things, lets just name a few:
-Shading being a white stripe on the characters' head most of the time
-Weird moving animation (when one of your main characters is a oretty good track athlete, having weird moving animations is a real scene killer)
- Physically hurting CGI and 3D animation, usually when there are a lot of characters in the background. It is like the wii characters, but even more distorted. The best is when we have a member of fhe main cast in the foreground animated normally, and we have these weird CGI wii characters going on about their wretched days in the background. After a while I found it funny and amusing, but really did not help the anime.
- Characters just existing for 10 seconds without moving/talking/doing anything. And not in normal still shots, but in the middle of the conversation. It really kills the momentum of conversations and sometimes emotional scenes, which makes the characters sometime look even more bland and annoying than they initially looked like.
So all in all, this is a passionately, but low budget made, pretty okay story about a coming of age romance. It wont make your head spin, but it is fun and wholesome, with some annoying forced drama moments.
To be fair, I rather see a good story, with shit animation, than a shit story with godly animation. The story here was not THAT good, but it was pretty fun, and I do not regret watching this. It wont be my favourite, but it will be a hidden, niche comfort anime of mine. Worth a watch, but probably wont go around buying merch for it.
Have a nice day

Well, good things first, this anime season is at least a bit better, than the first one, it is also one of the few at least passable game to anime adaptations. The music and art is okay, the art actually looks pretty nice, especially in fight scenes.
So ontonthe bad ones, literally everything else. Im an idealist type of person, but when the literal power of friendship is the ultimate power up, its a little sus, its not a power up in a resolve/spirit/fighting spirit kind of way, but a literal power up. Yeah, interesting. The plot is more confusing than any science above 5th grade
...
level to someone with an MBA degree (Shoutout to all the prestigious universities out there doing fuck all), while the characters themselves are the definition of "if 8 year olds found out about DND, but could not read the rule book". The MC only speak every three to five business days (but its better than it was in the first season) and I dont want to spoil anything, so Im only gonna say, that the mystery about the Mc when it was finally revealed just was a huge letdown, but at least they tried. The other characters are passable, the female kinda Mc trio are actually exemptions from the aforementioned 8 year old's Dnd rule, as they are suprisingly well written.
I know its from a game, so Im inclined to not give that much flak to the anime itself, but they really made some weird deciwions with it. Trying to mend the game world and anime world together? -Didnt work
Trying to be a Konosuba clone then switching to a more emotional psychology approach - didnt really work out either.
I like idealistic, fun and light hearted anime, but only if it is either strictly fun (no unnecessary drama like here) or when it actually meets with great writing (like with Konosuba and Gintama).
So, TLDR: If you want some cute, but utterly pointless, confusing and straight up bad stroy about friendship or you just want to immerse yourself in a mobile game adaptatinm that is actually watchable, you should watch this (but please leave your brain in a safe place in the meantime, otherwise you will be prone to an aneurysm). The fine next to the six in the score is more of a fine just leave me alone, than a this is some fine gourmet shit, but there are way worse shit floating out there in this toilet of a world, so at least this anime makes it a bit better place.

I could not say this anime is bady but it was like watching an identity crisis unfold on a plate. The anime clearly tries to be more than it is (and it could have been), but lacks the effort to do so. I much preferred the slight mystery, or more like lack of explanation of the earlier episodes, rather than the later episodes where the overnarration made me want to hang myself and the supposed explanations just made everything weird and less understandable.
The charavters are mostly bland, but therenare a lot of them and most of the time they are fun to watch, but there
...
is a lot of wasted potential there. One aspect I both liked and disliked was the world building, for a chill anime about a periodically appearing restaurant from another world it actually showed a fair glimpse of the other world in the characters backstories and trough the charavters eyes, but they left a lot.of questions, especially fundamental ones unansweres and there is not enough info to pierce together anything meaningful about the worls, other than basic geography, not even the character dynamics helps this (which mostly go unused sadly).
The art and music are pretty decent, especially the music, op is good and the ed is okay I guess, the bgm during scenes were well placed.
So my biggest frustrations about this show is that they did not know what they wantes to make, did they want a chill out restaurant story, a chill out fantasy story or a normal fantasy story?
No one knows and it shows, as the various plot points just beat each other to death with their stupidity most of the time, instead of complimenting each other (I can not write more about this without spoilers, but if you decide to watch it, this will be painfully obvious in the last 2-3 episodes).
So TLDR: All in all its a pretty chill out anime about a restaurant appearing sporadically in a fantasy world and having a lot of fantasy guests, but it wants to be an adventure fantasy or a full SOL at times and it they made these themes in such a bad way, that they cancel each others good points out.
It is still relaxing to watch tough if you turn your logical brain off.

This anime really feels like the writer/writers just had no idea how to write anything do they looked at some Z category Rosamunda Pilcher romance dramas and tought: Hmmmmmmmmm, this shit I will make, stop me, you can not *Lego yoda death sound*
The writer probably went like this:
Writer: How to write compelling characters?
Writer: Dunno
Writer: Hmmm, okay, but at least I should write a good setting with a good story for a romance, how to do that
Writer: Dunno
Writer: bbbbbbbbut at least I should be able to write good dialogue even if the characters are shit right?
Writer: Dunno, but what if instead of all these unnecessary things,
...
we would just make High School musical with even more drama and even more annoying characters in a japanese anime setting?
Writer:...........
Writer: You son of a bitch Im in.
Have you noticed the unnecessarily high amount of quoting too many media to reference an idea, yeah, thats literally the dialogue of half of the characters, while the other half somehow has normal, but boring dialogue.
I dont want to go into why the plot is stupider than a dead gold fish, along with the characters being even worse, the other reviews did that way better already, you can read those for minor spoilers and brain cancer.
But credit where credit is due, for a romance anime the animation is pretty good and the music isnt bad either, not great, but better than average, a shaky 7/10.
So overall, if you like unnecessary shitty drama, dumber than literal rock characters and with a plot so shit that I cry for another season of Arifureta in the meantime (dont watch that either), then you will probably enjoy this while the surgeons remove your brain tumors, if not, please dont waste your time, as the series maybe will get better, but with such a bad start even if we would get AOT/One piece level in romance writing from the show it would not be able to make up for these episodes

So, this will be a preliminary review, as I could not force myself to get trough this anime, which I rarely do, but you will see the reasons in the review.
So, overall, I have seen way worse animes out there, altough this is the rare exception where the promise of the show was already pretty bad, usually its a great promise with shitty execution, this show had a shitty promise with an even worse execution.
The first episode used the words loli granny a lil to much, the humor is really just badly executed slapstick humor, but it has its ups actually, the jokes are pretty
...
mediocre, but can be fun, except the sexual jokes (aforementioned loli granny being a bit too much into out MC for example), those are terrible and make the whole show just way worse. The characters are non existent up until now, world building also got thrown out the window in the meeting room (since this is a preliminary review its a lesser point from my perspective, please look up other reviews who actually suffered trough this, but they pretty much say the same). Characters are plainer than British food, no development for them or anything at all. Literally 1 minute backstories, which always gets thrown out the window the minute they meet our MC.
Art is mediocre, not bad, but just average, fight scenes are good, but they saved the money on the rest, it actually did not bother me, as Im more into the plot and characters than art, but if you are a visualsexual, you will not get a good rub out here. The music was also okay, forgettable, just like the art, neither bad neither good. Plot holes and illogical thinking is the bame of the game here, and even tough some say the anime does not take itself seriously, I have two points against that:
1. You can not take any logical fallacies and plot holes and say "Yeah, but they did not take it seriously" and be like thats a good answer, just because a comedy is supposed to be comedy, shit writing is still supposed to be shit writing. Yeah, the submarine engineers probably did not take themselves and the submarine seriously, but its all good, oopsie daisy.
2. While the anime most of the times aims for the comedy, there are actual serious moments, and from the other reviews serious fights and clashes going on, let alone speaking about the dark subplot at the beginning which affects the whole continent, so yeah, the anime at beast tries to pull a Gintama, but fails miserably.
Let me write out a scene which made me stop watching this whole show without as much spoilers as I can manage.
Two female characters to the FAMOUS INFO TRADER witch (Their own words - will be important) to ask for info about a lost person they are looking for.
Character one: We are looking for this person
Info trader: I dont bither with lost "insert title"
Character one: How did you know she is an "insert title", nobody said it.
Info trader: Oh shit I fucked up.
So to summarize, you go to an info trader to get info about someone, and they actually have info about them, you do the suprised pikachu face, and they to the suprised pikachi face about you doing the suprised pikachu face. Goddamn. This exchange kinda sums up the anime from my own experience and from reading other reviews here and on other sites, so yeah.
It can be fun sometimes, but overall this is shitty writing with shitty jokes trying to be a gold plate while not even making it out of the trash can.

Just an FYI before you decide to watch this anime, it has a suprising (even tho most of the time badly executed and overall not really good) plot twists in the first 4 episodes, so dont as you probably can deduce from the tags, dont expect a typical fantasy show, thats the most I can write about that without spoilers.
Now onto the review.
This whole show is weird, but not the good kind of weird, altough it is pretty early you judge that, as this weirdness can lead to interesting story developments. My biggest pet peeves with this anime is that it feels like it wasnt
...
tought out really well, it is riddled with plot holes in the first few episodes, for which we should have had the answers already as they are pretty basic things (hope they will correct that on the oncoming episodes, but probably not) and that the anime itself doesnt know what it is or what it wants, like watching a constant identity crisis on the screen.
The anime in itself is not that bad, but it needs a whole lot of better story development and just overall development in the oncoming episodes to overcome the constraints it set on itself for no reason. But at least the op and ed slaps tho.

Humor is subjective, luckily this anime is factually just bad, no need for subjective opinions, the only good thing about this is at least what you see in the first episode is more or less what you get in the others, only with an increasing amount of characters (Its only 4 episodes out when I write this, so we will see if this remains true).
I have two theorys about the creation of this anime, both being equally bad for the creators.
First, this was supposed to be a Nichijou type weird/comedy/SOL anime, but they took all the wrong turns, they selected all the wrong dialogue options
The
...
second being more plausible and honestly sadder, is that they just wanted to capitalise in the roaring meme industry and pulled a "how do you do fellow kids" move and tried to sell this off as something funny and watchable.
In short, the characters are pretty bad, even for a "comedy" anime, the setting is just dafuck level bad and tieing into that is the gag humor (the setting, or more like the lack of any character with an IQ of above room temperature (in Kelvin) is supposed to be reinforcing the gag humor) just does not stick. Its like they throw a handful of shit in every minute at your face from the screen and see what sticks. It can be a good tactic, but here it is not. I think this is a prime example of what happens, when the marketing team decides to make an anime as a quick cash grab, because #relatable#memes#brainrot#buymerch
To be fair there are way worse animes out there and we did not get to see the full season of the anime, so it can get better (doubtful), I would not give it big hopes tough.

This is one of those anime, where 1. The writers had no idea what they wanted to make 2. after scraping together their braincells enough to write something they still were not good enough writers to make their point subtly with normal settings, so they were like: Hmmmm, what if we make the setting, that literal man eating beasts are human like (antrofomorph is something, I dont know how to spell it, basically hard furries), but are discriminated against, then 100 year war broke out between them, beasts slightly won and now are racists against the humans instead of the other way around.
I mean, aside
...
from the characters being boring, the setting and story being bad and lazy as fuck and the art being subpar, the characters somehow tend to forget their own story, and are only racist when the plot wants them to be, like a switch goes on in their minds or something.
Also, I cant really fathom how is this a love story, let alone shoujo, when the whole premise of the show is that there is a han sacrificed every year for the beasts, but at least the side characters have some interesting personal developments (instead of the MCs).
So, thats about it, there is nothing else worth mentioning about this.
Anyone who compares this piece of garbage to Beauty and the Beast (not the OG Grimm books one, we have the adjective grim as a reason in english), they are kinda the reason Disney is unable to produce anything other than toughtless garbage these past few years, and please dont disgrace the OG Disney Beauty and the Beast with comparing it to this garbage.

Im not even going to pretend that I want to write a comprehensive critic/review about this series, but lets do a shorter review without much spoilers.
It took me around 50 minutes to watch the first 24 minute episode, because such shit happened, that every 20 seconds I had to pause and look at the imaginary camera, with an "are you fucken kidding me" look.
The story doesnt really have any direction and it deals with sudden tone shifts in a very bad manner, the first, around 6 episodes are lighearted mostly, then it throws you into some tragic backstory/loss/after all this found new purpose thing, but
...
the funnieat thing, is that it goes literally nowhere (I dont know about the sequel seasons) and goes back to a lighthearted adventure right after. How? Why? I dont know.
Mc is as op as you can get, but one thing that I liked is that even tough the story, charactera and fights were boring and honestly pretty shit they were consistent and the writers at least forced some creativity into the fighting techniques, at least in the beginning, after that they got a bit lazier. And that kinda sums up the series, characters and the whole world, whose only purpose is to cater to the mc in some way for some reason. No originality or depth found for either of them. The other good thing is the concept of the mc actually building a community and not just fucking off into the sunset, even tough ita pretty badly executed, it was a good concept.
The music is forgettable, at least the voice actors did a good job and most cenes have a fitting bgm.
The art is really something, it is a bit better than average most of the time, but there are segments where you feel like you are having a psychotic episode after eating a bit too much from your friend's funny brownies, the art style completely switches to some unhinged I dont even know what.
So the anime is pretty average or bad, based on your expectations, but if you literally turn your brain off and just watch the episodes without a single tought behind your eyes, it can be a fun anime, hence my score being 6.
This anime is seriously overrated/overhyped in my opinion, but that has more to do with the fans than the anime itself, so that is not paet of the score, just an fyi.
