...then you might like One Outs add

One Outs can be described as Akagi with baseball instead of mahjong. Because that's what it is. The main character Tokuchi Toua is essentially the same person as Akagi. A cold-blooded genius who beats his enemies with mind games, emotional manipulation and wits. Another thing is that One Outs and Touas tricks are much easier to understand than what Akagi is doing, even if you don't know the rules. If you couldn't really get into Akagi because of a lack of knowledge about mahjong, you might want to try this anime instead.

If you liked Gyakkyou Burai Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor add

...then you might like Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin add

Both anime have the "scum of society" as their protagonists. Both deal with the cruelty of those in higher position. Both anime contain a high amount of tears. Both anime feature the value of trust in your comrades, although Rainbow is much more idealistic about it. Their premise is different, but the two shows are thematically very similar.
