That was so laughably bad I had to look up the staff and studio that was behind this terrible execution of a movie.
We don't see the history of these characters at all, which would be have been fine if the whole movie didn't try use the goddamn history of these characters to drive the story! So instead, they splice in these flashbacks after the character reveals something as if to say, "see? We established it. Now cry please".
I feel like this was their attempt at portraying her amnesia but the execution was just god awful. It should have made me feel sympathy and pity her,
...
but instead it just made the story beats laughable and their relationship as flat as a cardboard.
And in the third act they hit us with showing the scenes where she was actually a spirit and not really there as if it wasn't the most obvious thing? Speaking of, how did she not immediately realize something was off when she was in class where the teacher would have taken attendance and also no one reacting to her for the whole day? "But we just gotta ignore minor things like this because the set up that arise from this will be so worth it and not ham fisted at all, trust me" -director probably.
Also the transition into the song break in this movie makes the transition in Fireworks (2017) feel natural in comparison. I had to hold back laughter in so many scenes that this movie really borders on "so bad it's good" category.
The only positive thing I'll say is that the design of Saori's character was neat as her attire hints at her true identity. But other than that, nada. Avoid this movie like the plague.
