THIS SHOW NEEDS SEASON 2!!! This is my 2nd time watching it and I thirst for more!!!

Made before battle royal game/movies became a worldwide phenomenon it was ahead of it's time. If this was made in 2016 it would have exploded in popularity, it's 4 years ahead of it's time.

Not only is the animation amazing, the story very clever and thrilling, and the pace great enough to keep you binge watching THE OPENING SONG IS FRICKEN AMAZING!!!

The characters each have their own unique feel and it kinda does a real good job at making a video game junkie protagonist into a real person in a ... deadly situation. The biggest problem about this show it ends on a cliffhanger that never got followed up!

I gave this show 4 episodes. and poked around a few others

Now understand why im writing this review: after the first episode i noticed a terrible trend that happens in humans vs aliens shows frequently; recycled footage. So i jumped to episode 5 and 8 and skipped around: same footage for the alien fights and the story rapidly jumped in episode 8. I got a real strong feeling this suffers the same fate as "Gunparade March" a great manga poorly translated to an anime by a small budget and crunched in episodes.

This is not a focused anime on the series it's a rushed project to ... capitalize on any success the manga had at the time of it's release. For that reason i had to bail. More then likely you could watch episodes 1 & 2, then 11 & 12 and the middle portion would be irrelevant and because of recycled footage your not missing out on any great fights and the story jumps make the middle fluff meaningless. So i did just that I watched episode 2, then 11 and 12... no thank you. Being slightly confused but overall getting the jist of it and read some of the other reviews. Ahhh a visual light novel... makes sense now. It's a rushed project capitalizing off it's success.

Honestly gundam wing from the 90's has better animation then this or on par with something made in 2016 and has a fully flushed out story over way more then 12 episodes. What im saying is this show is a hard pass and after episode 1 i should have just junked it and left it at that.

This is a gem of a show. Few animes are able to take historical wars and add "magical/supernatural" elements that make it still feel historical and appealing. I went into this blind only seeing maybe 1 minute of footage beforehand and I greatly enjoyed it. The use of mages as airborn troops/scouts/artillery kinda made sense in the way that they never felt truly overpowered just in special division of their own. Kinda like how ships fight ships, planes fight planes, and sometimes they fight eachother. Mages are just weapons of war and Tanya is one of the most vicious tools of war the Empire has ... at their disposal.

The battles are very well drawn and the sound effects added to them make each fight feel unique. There is no recycled footage for the most part every fight is one of kind in the series. The one drawback is that obviously the show is named after the protagonist and she is built up as an overpowered character. There's no sense of "will she lose" only "how will she win?" Though the 12 episode series ended well to where they could do a 2nd season showing how Tanya could fall and end the series for good. I'm not sure if there a manga that continues this but i really hope that this show gets a movie or two or a 2nd season because when it ended i just wanted more!

Very good, I watched season 1 & 2 from start to finish and it's a bit of a tear jerker near the end. Not trying to spoil anything but you will get some feels if your following the show closely.

They do a good job with the voice acting feeling out the scenes, and they dont throw the obvious at you every episode like other romance animes which is nice. The characters are a little cliche but they got their own unique feel.

Be a really great date show for couples in a serious relationship or for single people just into serious love stories. It's not meant ... to be humorous every episode, plays out almost like soap-opera where it all feel very real. I'd definitely recommend someone into romance anime to watch this. It's nice to see an otaku protagonist being treated like a human being for once and not a walking gag-reel for cheap laughs. 8/10

Only flaws is there's a little too many slow mo shots and the characters are pretty stiff. No fancy animation here just raw emotion and great dialog. watched it Dubbed and enjoyed it very much.

A very solid romance anime. It's not extra sappy, but it's not a comedy either. It has it's moments of humor but deep down there's a sad story they dont throw at your face every episode.

It's a very enjoyable show. The Voice Actors do a good job of getting the feel of the situation correct. Though the characters are a little cliche for the genre everyone has their own little quirks.

If your a single person into deep romance stories this is a good one to watch. IF your in a relationship if your younger or older it'll be a good watch for date night.

My one ... gripe witht he show is two of the main characters have the same exact color hair/height/bodyshape. You can only tell them apart by voice and hairstyle.

A classic if there ever was one. This is one of the shows that made me an anime fan int he first place that didnt involve giant mechs (gundam)

The number of episodes may be off-putting to some people who dont want an lengthy show but trust me its very worth it. Being a show made in late 90's when anime was just becoming popular in the US it artwork is not very flashy. Think "Akira" before the remaster.

Trust me though the show is top-notch. Lewd humor, strong moral lessons, and not terrible voice acting for it's time. In-fact i'd say its probably one ... of the best dubbed animes for it's time! You'll recognize the voice actors immediately since there was only a handful of notable ones at the time.

If you want to take a time machine back into the classic of anime or your a super anime fan and you missed this GTO is one show you should watch. Probably in at least my top 10 or top 20 animes, cause as i said at the start it's the one that made me realize maybe anime isnt just about robots in explosions. There can be motorcycles and gang violence too leading to a more self-aware kinda of thinking about yourself to where when it's over you'll realize things about yourself you didnt think about before.

I havnt seen the other two movies but I have watched the main show and this movie was great to me.

While the main show I'd give a solid 6 or 7 (nothing bad about it, but nothing spectacular) this movie gets an 8 or 9. Even if you never watched the main show or the other movie, by itself it has a strong flow and great visuals. The action is top notch in terms of visuals and the plot is great to where even if you have no idea abotu the previous titles you can pick up quickly on what the gist of the story ... is and why they are there. I was especially happy to see how the characters are more flush out into their roles. Mumei especially.

Alot of people compare it to Attack on Titan (i even did myself in my review of the main show) but it's honestly not a fair comparison. By itself it's very enjoyable and worth watching. Maybe if you didnt like the main show you could watch this and get some new respect for it by the time your done.

I really dont understand the hate people are giving this show... guess their spoiled by good anime or just binge watching too many classics.

It's far from being horrible, but in truth it's nothing unique. It is a great example of a manga made into an anime. If your not a big reader but interested in Kabaneri's story you'll get the full effect by watching the show or reading the manga. It's just an animated story for your viewing pleasure. The Dialog is good, the artwork is good, the cgi isnt crap when it's used (mostly train shots which is a pain to draw so I ... understand their reasoning behind that choice).

There's nothing wrong with this show! Would it be my first choice to recommend someone, no. Would it still be a show I'd recommend to someone, yes. If this came out before shows like Attack on Titan people would not be judging this as harshly as they are.

If you need something thats easy to watch and not overwhelming to follow like your doing something else in the room at the same time (such as writing a review) it's a good choice. This is how anime SHOULD be made. It has it's moments but it's not like every episode will be a gem.

Ignore the negative reviews and give it a chance. If it's not for you, just turn it off.

I found out about this show at random and watched season 1 & 2 back-to-back and I was so happy to know they are making season 3.

It phenomenal and as much as I want to continue the story reading the Mangas if they exist (never looked into it) I am more then happy to wait for season 3 to come out will all the effort they put into it. As I said on my review of season 1 it has a very Rurouni Kenshin vibe but a less superman type feel behind the main character.

Animal lovers beware they are still more then happy to kill, ... "chita-chop," and eat anything that moves on all fours or swims in water.

If your looking for a more serious vibe in an anime without some wussbag teenage highschooler as the protagonist this is for you. Nothing but brutal battles and a driving story done on a very humanistic level. If someone dies more then likely it will be in a way you havnt seen before in the show. No repeat bulletholes here. Faces will be ripped to shreads, human skins with be carved off out to create a map, and your love for the show will rise.

If netflix or a major anime viewing platform like Adult Swim or Toonami ever picked this up it would BLOW UP!!! Fans of shows like Rurouni Kenshin or Full Metal Alchemist will totally love this show. The protagonist bring back old classic hero tropes in a unique feeling. They are powerful and you know, the leads of the show, but they also feel very defeat able. No godlike powers just strong performances and strong wills to survive what the story throws at them.

Animal lovers beware though this show is not shy about hunting. It's the main way they survive and "the brains are usually tasty ... with a little salt" and they dont let the eyeballs go to waste either.

Plays out superbly and each of the characters have their own unique feel in a show that could have made them very bland. Voice acting is great too. I recommend you watch it dubbed if you can.

If your looking for a show without magic powers and realistic feel this is the anime for you.
