Hello, I'm Slayers363
Discovered anime on Adult Swim/Toonami. Watched Trigun, Yu Yu Hakusho, Detective Conan, Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, Yugioh, and Digimon etc. Made this MAL account to talk about anime with anyone that wants to. I'll rate anime on how much I enjoy it, and ill drop anime I dislike or lack access to.
The Slayers (スレイヤーズ) is my all time favorite series, I think Lina inverse is the best protagonist ever. I found the first season on Youtube by searching for Slayer music. After the 1st episode I was hooked. Comedic fantasy swords & sorcery is my favorite anime genre. Also like metal & classical music, and video games.

I don't need a link to the fibrizo shape, but I know what it looks like. Or rather, the scene where the image appears,
I bought the videotape legitimately, so I've seen that episode many times. The scene you mentioned doesn't leave an impression on me, but the others do. I don't really think too much about the character designs on the demon side of “Slayers.” It's usually the fans other than you who are more excited about Xellos and his immediate superior that talk about the design of the demon tribe. I don't really pay attention to the demon tribe side of the story, only to its character design. I think you are the only one who would comment on Phibrizo's character design and say “this is cool”.
We have had several exchanges, but even though we like the same work, the scenes that you and I find memorable or interesting are completely different, and it can be exhausting to talk to each other. Do you ever feel that something is off? The more we talk, the more I think we have surprisingly different tastes.
I think a good example of this is the line you mentioned in a previous comment as your favorite in the novel, but it didn't leave any impression on me at all. Even if the nuances of the translation are different, if you can think of something, I think you can get an idea of what I mean. I also sometimes wonder if you do not understand the scenes that impressed me. It is possible that you have not commented on it specifically or searched for it.
Some characters can be easily cosplayed by selling official costumes or using ready-made clothes sold at clothing stores, so it's not like I need to have sewing skills. Oh, I think there was an event in Japan where cosplaying as a police officer was not allowed. Even in fiction, if it is mistaken for the real thing, or if someone is offended, etc., I don't see why it should be banned.
No, I don't think the Slayers garb is a difficult hairstyle at all. From the point of view of someone who does cosplay, I think Yu-Gi-Oh is more difficult. Probably more people who have seen both works, even if they don't cosplay, would think Garv's haircut is easier than Yu-Gi-Oh's. I very much doubt why you thought it was a more elaborate haircut than Yu-Gi-Oh, on the contrary. If you look, you can see that Garv doesn't have that elaborate a haircut...
Rui Araizumi should have been involved in the anime as well as in the drawings. I don't really want her to draw the gate staform. As for Phibrizo, the shape of the Xellos identity is the famous triangular pyramid, so it's not out of place for it to resemble the shape of the ink. What, you think that's cool? Seriously?
Hiei himself is a cool character, but sometimes that can't be expressed well in cosplay. I can't say in general that cosplaying will express it in a cool way.
I think very few people cosplay with their own hair nowadays. If the color and length of the character's natural hair is the same as the character's, there are cases where a wig is not used, though.
I'd say the level of difficulty with the hair would be something like Yu-Gi-Oh... I think.
By the way, Naga's voice actor has cosplayed in the past in works other than Slayers. She'll be wearing black clothes for Slayers related events to match the character's image.
The idea of filling in the gaps in information is something I've experienced a lot with Evangelion. That work still has many blanks even now. There's the good aspect where other people's opinions can be helpful, but there's also the bad aspect where some people don't acknowledge others' opinions.
Well, as for the new light novel, since I got spoiled about the content this time, I will buy it on the release date, but I think I'll wait quite a while before reading it. I'll read it once the uneasy feeling goes away.
You don't know if I managed to look cool with the Hiei cosplay, right?I didn't show you a picture of the cosplay, so I laughed when I read that it was cool, even though I don't think you could, you know, judge it. As I said, when you get to the level of cosplaying Toguro's brother and others, I think it's cool, even without seeing the pictures.
Rather than worrying about the pointed parts of the wig, I was more concerned about the white parts of the set falling apart.
It's a pain in the ass to get it from the light novel room...I've checked. The illustration of the demon tribe on the ceiling is from earlier in volume 13. I only vaguely remember the scene where they pretend to be bodyguards to confuse the audience, because I've seen that in doujinshi from time to time. I don't remember much about the scene in which he convinces a group of wizards in the castle either... The scene you're describing is one that I'm used to seeing, but it didn't leave much of an impression on me.
As for the release date of the new book, I'm pretty sure it's in March, but I'm thinking there's a chance it'll be 3 days to a week from the projected release date... never more than a month late, no quirks.
As for YuYu Hakusho, the cosplay I did was hiyei. For you, it's the word gemao that you don't understand. In terms of the number of episodes of the anime, it's 82. In the manga, the story is in volume 15. In English, the word might be different. I think I rather like the latter half of the story... As I wrote in my previous comment, I've already sold the manga twice and bought it three times, so buying it again is after I've already done it. If I were to buy again, it would be the fourth time, and I don't think I would get rid of them again because it's too much trouble to buy them again.
It's been so long since I read it again... I can only remember my favorite scenes. As for the title Lina got, I don't remember that Luna had anything to do with it at all, so I don't think I started it to make fun of her. I think the only titles Lina was teased about were the ones involving the color pink.
The things that impressed me about Part 2 were the illustration of the demon heads growing out of the ceiling, the messy naming of Dynast's subordinates, the fact that Gaurii realized rather quickly at the end of the book that he was Luke, and the gorgeous usher... The story about frolicking in the glass in the greenhouse made me smile, too... I'm still trying to talk about Slayers.
I first learned about light novels that don't come out on release day from Slayers...
I remember that “Yu Yu Hakusho” was broadcast on different stations at my friend's house and my house, and my house was 3 to 5 times behind, so I remember getting spoiled. I watched it every week. I remember I sold the manga book twice and bought the last volume three times, and I think it was the only manga book I ever bought again. I really liked the story around the Gemaou, where Sensui comes in. And come to think of it, I cosplayed this one.
In any case, I could have seen spoilers about Zelgadis coming out on the official side of the site. This time, I figured I'd just check the info on the release date. Basically, Slayers has a pattern of light novels not being sold on the release date, so now I'm looking forward to seeing if it will be released on schedule.
Well, it's rare that I let people know what my NG line is, and since I don't know what your NG line is, I think there is a pattern of me talking about things you don't want to know. I'm sorry if that's the case.
Even if you say you like Slayers, the definition of “like” is different for each person. Besides, there were things that I didn't know when I was talking with you. I have no regrets about talking about Slayers with you.
In fact, it was your comment that made me realize that there is a version of Slayers novels overseas that is not in the children's book category, and that has Tommy Otsuka instead of Rui Araizumi as the illustrator.
I hope you enjoy Slayers because you still have a lot more fun with it than I do. Also, you say you don't talk about Slayers anymore, but I'd be interested to hear what your thoughts on the second part, Volumes 9-15, were on the quirky stuff.
As for Luna, it is said that when she appears in the anime, the story is complete in 30 minutes, so I doubt there will be much more mention of her, including in the novel, in the future.
I think Zangulus was a good antagonist character. Not too strong, not too weak. I also like the backstory about how he was eating oden with the voice actor who played Gaurii at a food stall after the recording of the Slayers recording was over.
Martina was also a good character for an original. I liked her at the end of the show. As for Zangulus and Martina, I watched the anime without having read the original novel, so I don't feel any dislike or discomfort with the anime original at all.
As for Filia, I started watching TRY after reading the original novel up to the latest edition at the time. As was said during the broadcast, we ended up with two heroines, Lina and Filia, and I sometimes felt that it was a bit unbalanced... It's not that I don't like them.
I didn't want to hear Zelgadis' info about “Slayer's Split” from you. I don't mind looking at spoilers when I'm curious, but I don't like it when people give me spoilers without any preamble. I hate it even more when someone who hasn't even read the work yet gives me spoilers based on other people's impressions.
I've already bought the new Slayers novels without any spoilers. I am at fault for not telling you that ahead of time, so I hope you don't mind. Well, I hope you'll be careful next time.
In case you were wondering, I tried to avoid spoilers about the main content when I was talking to you, but I'm sorry if I inadvertently wrote a spoiler and took away your enjoyment of “knowing”.
Well, how one perceives character relationships varies from person to person. There's no clear right or wrong, especially since it's not officially defined.
Regarding Hisoka, I think he's different from Xelloss. Xelloss has a figure he would never betray, Zelas Metallium, which makes him different from Hisoka. Also, Xelloss isn't as perverted or pleasure-seeking as Hisoka... although I've seen people online saying they feel both are similar, so it seems you're not alone in feeling that way.
A new book for 'Slayers' is coming out, but as you said, translating it will be tough. Recently, the magazine that was serializing the short stories decided to cease publication, so I'm worried if volume 18 of the main story will ever come out. However, I think the author might give us an update on how much of the main story has been written in the afterword of this new book.
I've never thought of Xellos as Lina's frenemy, and it's strange because I've never met anyone who thinks that way.
When either of them interact, even when they're cooperative, they're like, “We're just temporarily cooperating, we're not buddies.” It's like they're separating the two. I don't think it's so much of a frenemy as it is a temporary cooperative development when the common enemy and protagonist's goals match.
Characters like Xellos, well, I read a lot of manga and light novels, but there aren't any. If there were, it would be a pain in the ass for the author to write.
I remember the line in the case of Lina's death, but the line in volume 8, “I hope we don't meet again,” left more of an impression on me. is more memorable for me personally.
Also, a new Slayers book, the one with Naga that's not the main story, just got announced that a new book is coming out in March. I'm glad.
Lina's sister is Luna, right? You just missed it, but she usually appears outside of the main anime. She's in the NEXT episode 25 eye-catch and the NEXT and TRY OPs.
I don't think she appeared in the light novel, but sorry if I'm misremembering.
As for Xellos,
I like his friend or foe position and his voice actor.
However, if I had to vote for a popular character, I think I would vote for Lina.
As for Conan, I dropped out of watching the anime every week more than 10 years ago, but I still go to the movie every year, so I guess I like the work. I think it is correct to say that I like the work rather than the characters when it comes to Conan.
The main story about Okinu in the manga, you know, the one that reveals how she became a ghost and all. It's also a story about her own hard work, and some of the characters cried during the making of the film at the end of it. As for the manga, there is Okinu-chan's main episode and another story that makes me cry. I love the comedic line... “Yokojima-san, where do you want to fall?” And.
I think one of the more expensive doujinshi (fan-made) Slayers is the one Arakawa wrote for Fullmetal Alchemist before he became a professional manga artist. I've never seen the actual thing.
The story of Okinu-chan is the main episode of the manga one, the one that makes you cry.
Like you said, the doujinshi isn't defined as a fan-made work.
Dragon Ball: That's when I was reincarnated as Yamcha!” is not a very good example, since it is not that famous and the original idea is by Toriyama Makira. When talking to others, I think it would be easier to understand if you were talking about a manga artist who is somewhat well-known.
The pattern I used as an example, though, I didn't bother to name the manga artist or anything,
(1) The pattern where the author or illustrator himself draws the doujinshi of the work.
Arina Tanemura, Yukiru Sugisaki, Fumi Yoshinaga, Yuki Amamiya + Yukino Ichihara, Fuyumi Ono, Rui Araizumi, Masaki Kajishima, Yumi Tamura
(2) A pattern in which only the cover of the magazine is of the artist's own work and the contents of the magazine are of another artist's work.
CLAMP
(3) Pattern in which the couple draws the back story of their own work and illustrations of their partner's work.
Togashi & Naoko Takeuchi
(4) Pattern of drawing parodies of friends' works
Kazuhiko Shimamoto
(5) Pattern in which animators and staff draw illustrations of works they were involved in
Animators of Naruto, Gegege no Kitaro, etc.
In some cases, there is a pattern where the contents of the doujinshi are included directly in the manga books that are legitimately and normally sold.
