Tsuki ga Kirei debuted last spring season and proved to be a beautiful anime series. In 12 episodes a love story is told in its simplest, most pure and honest form.
However, this new anime series stands out from the other series of the genre because, unlike what is customary in Japanese animations, the focus is not on secondary school students. In Tsuki ga Kirei, the characters are attending elementary school. This difference completely alters the whole narrative. Since the characters are in a younger age group, all the questions that revolve around them will inevitably be different.
Tsuki ga Kirei tells the story of Kotaro and
...
Akane, two youngsters in senior year of elementary school. During this last year, the couple will experience a significant experience in the life of any young person: the first love. The anime world is filled with series and films that explore the concept of Tsuki ga Kirei. Some do it with great mastery. Others are a little below expectations. This series depends more on the first option
Tsuki ga kirei has a slow start and as the episodes pass, it becomes a real shocking and interesting work, the way to connect akane and kotro make the spectator do not stop accompanying this work
The focus of the narrative of Tsuki ga Kirei focuses on the experience of the first love of two young people. It all begins when Kotaro and Akane realize each other's existence. There are many exchanges and deviations of looks, much shyness, much shame. They want to talk to each other, but they do not know the typical anime of the genre. And then, the opportunity arises for the first conversation. Gaining a little courage, there they can share the numbers of mobile phones. This is the first phase of history. The period in which the characters develop a mutual interest for each other and manage to approach in a beautiful way and in some ways not cliché.
After the initial approach, the great moment of confession arrives. Unlike other anime, here the confession arrived quite early. For those who accompany anime series of the same genre, know that this is something rare. Most of these series focus the whole drama on the couple's time to express their feelings. However, Tsuki ga Kirei realizes that there is also much drama and conflict in the day-to-day life of a couple. Especially when giving time and space to the characters to have a life, a routine, personal activities that do not involve the boyfriend. So, after a couple of episodes, we have the long-awaited confession.
Accompanying this romantic journey of Kotaro and Akane is, on the one hand, very funny. Because surely anyone who sees the episodes of the series ends up by reviewing the situations experienced by the characters, creating a certain empathy for them. And that makes this journey also quite nostalgic. Because it reminds us of our own experiences. All this is only possible because the series is highly faithful to reality.
After the protagonists express their feelings, they officially start dating. The embarrassment that we saw initially remains, but also shows that the characters are getting more comfortable with each other. And little by little, other adversities and complications appear in the relationship of Kotaro and Akane. For example, try to understand what you are supposed to do as a couple. Or the famous jealousy, the first discussion. Anyway, all that is natural to happen, especially in these ages where the young are still maturing.
The drama of the series focuses heavily on these moments, which are essential in a relationship. But it does not become melodramatic or exaggerated. Each of these situations has a purpose. They allow the relationship of Kotaro and Akane to evolve, as does the story itself. But not only. As well as the protagonists growing together, they also do it individually. This is something very important that must be referred to. Another relevant aspect is that the development of each is influenced by the other. It reminds us a little bit what happens to the couple from the movie Mimi wo sumaseba, from Studio ghibli
.
strong point : The portrait true to the reality of both the characters and the experience of first love.
Complaint: The CGI animation. In a beautiful animation that reminds us of Makoto Shinkai's works, it's a shame that the CGI animated parts (eg, crowd animation) are so poorly made. They completely discard the rest
