Another strong entry into the Nanoha franchise. Art is reliably excellent, paired with a solid story , exciting action and a good soundtrack. Focus on the cast of the original and A's was much appreciated, and it does a good job tying back to the first and second movie, which made for a more satisfying watch if you'd seen those movies. Villains in this movie are solid and sympathetic, although not quite as strong as the ones from Nanoha and A's. Fans of Fate will likely enjoy this one, as she gets some sweet development here.

As a manga reader, this is more coherent and consistent, while still managing to be a faithful adaptation, of the manga. Certain regressive decisions and narrative "going-in-circles" prove to make more sense and are more clearly shaded out than in the manga, which makes them consequently much less frustrating. It still meanders in places, but ultimately gives us a sweet, satisfying end to make up for that.

Art is excellent. Story starts out promising, but it's clear the author didn't have a concrete plan in sight and just kept adding new and repetitive obstacles while not really allowing consistent growth. Characters have potential or are outright enjoyable - Harumin is a standout, but suffer constant regression and/or going in circles because of aforementioned problems.
Weirdly enough (and unlike most of the other readers) I had a huge soft spot for tsundere Mei, but she's admittedly one of the worse-written characters, constantly opaque and, towards the end of the manga, regresses to an incredibly stupid extent just for the sake of drama. Read ... |
