If you liked Dragon Ball Z, then you might also like Gintama. Watching Gintama now reminded me of how similar it is to watching Dragon Ball Z when I was a kid. If you like comedic and simple plot stories then Gintama is for you. It also has those alien characters that make it more enjoyable. Although DBZ can be serious at points and talk about conflicts with life, Gintama counteracts with a moral in almost every episode. These two have similar protagonists (Goku & Gintoki) and under dogs (Krillin & Shinpachi) and if you like an anime like DBZ which has martial arts and comedy then you'll definitely like Gintama as well.

If you liked Fullmetal Alchemist add

...then you might like Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch add

If you liked Fullmetal Alchemist, then you might also like Code Geass because of the genres that are similar to both animes. They both deal with the male protagonist having to deal with the military, fantasy like mecha items and tons of action involved. And the best part in my opinion is that there really aren't many fillers in these animes so it makes it worth watching =]
