Gankutsuou is the sci-fi adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' "The Count of Monte Cristo". It's a pretty damn good anime. So this was recommended to me as a secret santa thing, but sadly I did not have the time to watch it until recently. As for the adaptation part, I have not read the book so I can't say if it's very faithful or not, though it did make me way more interested in the book than I was, but I digress.

This anime about swimming with homoerotic undertones is aight, I guess.
I guess I should write a bit more about it, the animation is great, if that's your thing you really oughta check it out. As far as the rest goes it's slightly above average. Some nice friendship moments and stuff, but as I said in the beginning, it's aight. Appearantly that's not long enough for MAL so I'll continue, the anime is about swimming, there are swimmers in the anime and they do a lot of swimming. Astrid Lindgrens story really comes to life in this anime, which is a great adaptation and manages to make fans of the book feel right at home while still managing to excite them.
If you enjoyed the book you owe it to yourself to watch this anime, it does the source material justice, and it will make you feel like a little kid again. There is so much ejoyment to be had in this anime wether you've read the book or not. The characters are great, there are moments of joy, moments of sadness, and everything in between.
