This anime was pure art. I found myself watching it after hearing the premise and liking it. Girl that loves magical girls is finally granted powers but she ends up a witch, a good setup for wacky hijinks and a good time. I was warned it was down bad but holy shit did that not prepare me for what was about to happen.
In the first minute you get exposed to full frontal nudity and it goes so much deeper than that. Every episode a new fetish or two is proudly displayed in what i can only explain as the total dissolution of the line between
...
anime and hentai. I found myself unable to look away in a way i havent since eromanga sensei.
Animation was serviceable, the music was mid, the plot was surprisingly okayish and the fights were, well, basically porn.
10/10 dont watch it

Well, lets get to it quickly, is this a good show? Yes, its not the best far from it, it has many flaws and downfalls but it still manages to be a breath of fresh air in this industry. edit: yes this review is me praising this show for not being as shit as other isekai, harem, you name it.
First thing that caught my attention was how characters were interacting like real people (i don't know if its because I've been watching the wrong shows but i often find myself getting completely thrown off by how appalling the social skills of characters in this genre
...
are and most often not on purpose). Everyone, though most being pretty shallow, has a unique personality and quirks that makes the world being built feel certainly more lively. The stand out is obviously the protagonist who has a baseline personality at the start but builds on it in a way that feels very believable. Hes kind hearted but not a selfless can do no wrong type you see in harem anime ad nauseam, hes brave but has his reservations about throwing himself in harms way for no reason, again normal people personality i hate that im having to put that as a selling point.
The story in itself is pretty predictable once you get a grip of the twist this one brings. Yea turns out having a grand conspiracy against your protagonist is a great way to get tension and since its never done, er at least this well, it feels worth watching just for it as you see your mc slowly build his reputation back up by not being an asshole and being somewhat generous.
Art is passable, sound is serviceable yadi yadi yada this is still being vomited out of a terrible industry
Now to debunk some baseless criticism ive seen thrown at this show in the top comments
-Its a loli harem bait: Well is it a harem? Technically yes but id argue its one done right as no one is being led on for ages for no other reason than ''plot''. What about the lolis then? Well yes this show has an high amount of lolis in it but its not very exploitative of them is it? The main character is clearly not interested and the show never tries to make you interested either, none of them are being overtly sexual at any point, they rarely try to make a move on the protagonist and the camera never sexualizes them. The only one that occasionally does act somewhat sexually is Raphtalia and she looks to be 16-17 by the time she does it which is, while not exactly old enough to ''get together'' with our mc, right around the age where you would expect a girl to start trying to use her sexuality. It honestly just feels like this guy just happens to be surrounded by young girls instead of the plot forcing them to be with him which, although i would have liked to see some diversity to the cast, I'm ultimately ok with.
-Its just an incels revenge power fantasy story: Well you have your nerdy jobless neet who lives with his parents who gets thrown in a world where everyone is against him but he has special powers that no one recognize so all boxes ticked right? On the surface yes thats right but id argue its not the case at all. Naofumi's power is not the only one of its kind and at the beginning, most are stronger than him. He has to work hard to acquire his powers and they all feel earned. In this show being ''gifted'' or being ''a genius'' doesnt mean much if you dont use your gift (much like real life) and its very much exemplified by the other 3 heroes summoned with him having objectively better weapons and not being able to compare at all to the protagonist by the end due to their lack of effort and over reliance on their ''genius''. This show comes out with pretty good morals to share when compared with most other garbage you see in anime. If the world seems against you, find people who will believe in you and cherish them, work hard and you will be rewarded, dont get complacent etc.
-This is deprived slave owning fantasy: Ok this one makes no sense but ive seen it more than once and i cant stand the disingenuousness of it. Does the mc own slaves, well yea but you might as well say he just freed them exemplified by Raphtalia sticking by him even when her brand is removed. Also, by the way, if any slave's new owner treated them with respect, dignity and most of all as an equal like Naofumi does, well obviously they'd want to stick by them afterwards. In Filo's case shes literally a pet and has pretty much the personality of a dog so, take it or leave it, i think thats still fair game. The next addition is not a slave and sticks by the mc because she fears for her life and he protects her so *shrug*
Soooooooo, Is this a good show? Again yes, does it deserve the 9 i gave it? No it doesnt there are plenty of better shows you could be watching instead of this one but if youre up for a ''power fantasy'' isekai, this one is one of the best ones and in that category, it does deserve it. (But mostly because almost all other shows are garbage)

Let me start by saying this, Love tyrant is an underrated show. That being said it isn't perfect and far from it, it's pretty sloppily made and can seem very uninspired, which it might very well be, but if you are willing to go past that and stop expecting a "normal" show you will find that it is an extremely entertaining parody of the most cliché tropes in anime.
Whether it is on purpose or by accident, they reuse every tired anime trope but instead of adding something original, they crank it up to 11 which leads to everything the characters do being incoherent
...
with the story in an unprecedented clash that will instantly shatter any bit of immersion you may have had in the story. This contrast between what is expected and what you get turns out to be a very powerful tool of parody making the viewer realise the storytelling flaws of widely accepted anime conventions.
Of course this premise would get tired very quickly were it not for the humor put forward by the show. I'm not going to praise it as being a work of genius or anything, the laughter comming mostly from simple shock humor and visual gags but let's be real, this is anime we are talking about, the bar is already set pretty low on what constitutes a funny bit. So as I was saying, the jokes are not all that great but the writers manage to keep it relatively fresh and though I wouldn't say I laughed at all the gags, not even most of them, but a couple moments managed to make me laugh out loud (something I rarely do) even if it was only at how jarring some parts are.
Unfortunately it goes a bit downhill at the end when the "story" took a turn to something more serious, in any capacity this thing has to be, and lost the one redeeming quality it had. You end up having to follow for 2 episodes these washed up jokes of characters trying desperately to have some development that would lead to a climax and doing so, threw out the window every bit of surprise or weird factor that it previously had. All of this strongly hinted at the fact that the writer did intend to write an actual story but nevertheless, I dont believe that the intent takes away anything.
All in all, can I say that it was a good show? Not really, but it sure was entertaining to watch because in the end, even though I'm not exactly sure if I was laughing with or at it, I can tell you one thing, I was laughing.

Although the story has some plot holes and shortcomings and the characters are a bit underdeveloped, Kimi no wa just hit the perfect tone, the feeling of a great anime. It feels like you can abandon yourself to the story to a point that even if you are confused and if the situation doesn't make sense, you keep being immersed in the beautiful scenery and music. Only after the movie had ended did i realize that it was not in fact perfect, but in the moment, it just felt right. In the end, I should rate this film lower to be totally objective but it
...
just does not feel right to do so as it is such a powerful and moving piece of art. It is something you have to experience with your heart.
