This is my first review so I will try to make as few mistakes as possible and to be objective.
Detective Conan is one of the series that is part of my childhood and despite its longevity I continued to like it even if it's dropped in quality compared to the beginning.
(ALERT: THERE COULD BE SOME SPOILER)
Story:
The story is not particularly complex, it speaks of an high school student and detective Shinichi Kudo that during a meeting with his childhood friend Ran Mouri he found some guys in black suits that first stunned the hapless high school student and then they make him swallow a
...
particular drug that makes him a child again. His goal is to find these men dressed in black who are part of a powerful organization, the Black Organization, to be able to find an antidote that will be able to get it back adult and in the meantime he hide his true identity with a new one under the name Conan Edogawa. To help him there is a friend of his father, Hiroshi Agasa, a doctor who builds useful gadgets for Conan to solve mysteries but also he found shelter in the detective agency of Ran's father: Kogoro Mouri, a private investigator separated from his wife and unable to carry out its work. Through Kogoro and numerous other characters Conan is able to solve numerous cases which will face with the passage of the episodes.
Characters and Arts:
Characters in my opinion is not the strong point of the anime. The story turns on three main characters:
1)Conan Edogawa (Shinichi Kudo): a high school student with great intellectual gifts and with the obsession of detective novels thanks to his father;
2)Ran Mouri: Shinichi's childhood friend and Kogoro's daughter. She is a fighter of martial arts and is in love with Shinichi. She's a character who represents the stereotype of the woman with great patience that waits for the return of her beloved;
3)Kogoro Mouri: Ran's father andis the stereotypical comic character unable to do its work, but thanks to the interventions of Conan that narcotises to solve cases, he takes all the credit without even knowing as he did to solve cases.
There are numerous other characters very stereotypical, but there are a few that stand out as Ai Haibara, but the main problem is that they are characters who remain static, flat and not develop major changes despite the length of the story. Another minus point is that there are some interesting characters that are used very little during the series. In addition, the art isn't the best: many characters, especially the female ones, look identical to each other but with a different hairstyle. The designs of the characters aren't particularly detailed and realistic, are quite simple and the animation is not the best but it looks acceptable.
Enjoyment: Despite its length and repetitiveness of many cases it's a very enjoyable anime where sometimes proposes new cases and also quite creative. Moreover, despite the characters remain very static throughout history there are still some ones very valuable as Kogoro Mouri or Ai Haibara. But as I have said many cases are very repetitive and the anime also contains numerous fillers or unnecessary episodes for the rest of the story mainly concerns the Black Organization and this can create a lot of boring to the viewer. To avoid this I would recommend the manga to be able to find useful and interesting episodes in the story.
I think Detective Conan is a very special anime/manga as detective anime/manga are few in the Japanese anime landscape dominated mainly by battle shonen. I recommend it to those who like the detective genres and long and old-fashioned anime. I don't recommend it to those who like short anime and those seeking stories with characters very marked and that evolve over time.
This is my first review and I hope it's helpful to readers. Sorry for my terrible English.
