Komatsu-kun Biyori is a manga for those who are similar to the mangaka; the experience of owning and raising an pet and remniscing on past ones. A heartfelt autobiography that I think any pert owner can enjoy regardless of what animal they took care of. There were a few moments where I even cried a bit with how familiar my experience was with the mangaka's.

The artstyle is adorable, especially little Komatsu! The way he's drawn is just so cute, and he moves and poses a lot like an actual ferret would. Not much attention is given to the humans but they also look fine being ... in a chibi-ish artstyle.

This manga also has a lot of information about ferrets and how to care for them. Things like nutrition, common problems, and even some basic biology with how they grow and mature.

Overall I'd suggest giving it a try if you're at all interested in any of the above points, it's fairly short and bittersweet and one of my new favorites <3

Came for the art style, stayed for the humor and inventions.


I found this anime when it first came out in 2019 and I was pretty young at the time, about middle school age. I was on some pirated anime site (I don't remember the name) and I found the art interesting. The style was something I really enjoyed and still do to this day. It may be simplistic, but it has a nice charm to it.

The plot is also simple but enjoyable to those with the matching sense of humor. If you do not enjoy innuendos, you will not enjoy the jokes and you should ... probably pass this one.

Ueno does yell at least once every episode which may turn some people off. I thought it was funny enough.

Now, my personal favorite part of this anime is the unique inventions that were made by Ueno. Although they are mostly just to advance the plot I would like to take the time to point out how amazing some of these devices are. Aside from the censorship ones, almost every invention has a purpose that could benefit the entirety of humanity as a whole. In the first episode, Ueno invents a water purifier that succesfully purifies her urine. Yamashita is able to consume it with no dificulties other than the lack of flavor and odor. This could be used to help so many people around the globe and Ueno herself admits that it would.

But does she ever share her creation?

No.

Instead, she just uses it to try and get Tanaka to drink her pee and throws it in some storage closet to collect dust. Ueno could be awarded a nobel prize for just this one invention, but she hides its existence. AND FOR WHAT REASON? WHAT FUCKING REASON DOES SHE HAVE TO HIDE HER INVENTIONS? EVEN THE CENSORSHIP SKIRT COULD GET HER FAMOUS BUT NOOOOOOOO, JUST USE IT FOR ONE DAY AND FORGET ABOUT IT! AND THATS NOT EVEN TOUCHING WHAT THE WATER BOTTLE THAT GETS WATER FROM FUCKING SPACE COULD DO! UENO SOMEHOW DISCOVERED HOW TO BASICALLY TELEPORT LIQUIDS FROM SPACE INTO A WATER BOTTLE AND IT TASTES DELICIOUS (which was one of the only complaints on her first invention) AND SHE DOESNT DO SHIT. MAYBE TANAKA WOULD PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR PIGTAILED ASS IF YOU JUST SOLD SOME OF YOUR SHIT[/
