A protagonist and a comrade, traveling through planets/countries. On their journey, they meet people who live in these places, and learn the different customs, cultures or tragedies they experience, trivializing the world we live in.

...then you might like Shigofumi add

Similar protagonist with a talking object as their companion, although Shigofumi isn't all about exploring different people and so on like Kino's Journey is, as Shigofumi actually contains a major story. Also, the character designer of the original Kino no tabi did the first draft character design for Shigofumi, just thought that was worth mentioning out of interest.

...then you might like Shinigami no Ballad. add

Both just give me that similar feeling, and i love them both. However, Shinigami no Ballad could have been much better unfortunatly, not living up to the novels. While Kino's Travels does, a masterpiece in everyway.

These two shounen animes are the best of their genre, and im sure anyone who's liked one, will definetly like the other.

Both have similar feels to eachother, and have a sci-fi element, and also involve a bunch of kids.

...then you might like Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl add

Not similar plotline related, but they're both sad anime, thou Kashimashi isnt near as sad as Air, but still. Anyways, if you liked one you may like the other, i know i sure do ^^.

If you liked Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu add

...then you might like Lucky☆Star add

You've got to watch Haruhi before you watch Lucky star. There's just too many references in Lucky star you wouldnt get if you hadnt watched Haruhi. Plus theres Seiyuu and same animation company Kyoani.

...then you might like Kanon (2006) add

Well first off, they're both originated from Key games and animated by Kyoani. They're both incredibly sad story's which will tug at your heart, mind you with fabulous animation (kyoani ftw!)

...then you might like Saishuu Heiki Kanojo add

Both are incredibly sad anime, and i could go into further detail of how they are somewhat similar, but it would have to include spoilers, so lets leave it as that.
