This was great. I generally dislike harems due to either really bad mc, or non-conclusive endings. But this doesn't come under that list. Well, the mc was good enough - but still pretty dense though. But he was still likeable. The girls were okay. I liked only one. But others weren't annoying at least.

The art was cute. It is similar to Chunnibyou (I guess - maybe a little low idk). Both the opening and ending are cute and the music was alright too.
The story started average, got a little bit crazy in the middle but ended nicely. I love it when they actually conclude romances. ... And this anime does it. There is a proper conclusion to romance. There are no unfinished business.

I already have a bad image of harems - they usually have no plot and when you mix in supernatural I expected shitty plot. But surprisingly I liked the supernatural elements in this series. They made enough sense. I liked the plot twists too - very rare to see smart twists in harems.

So, I concluded I will throw away my prejudice towards harem and give them a try before turning away.

And, I give this series a 8 on 10.

I give this series a 9 on 10. Honestly it was a 10 for a long time but the anime goes downhill towards the end. Don't get me wrong, it has proper conclusions even to the side characters. But, it got really cringy space shit towards the end which spoiled the mood for me. Considering how well it went in the beginning the ending is seriously underwhelming.

For anyone having second thoughts about watching the show: definitely give it a go. The series has its flaws but is definitely above average for me.

The animation was pretty good, I haven't seen many mecha anime to compare this ... with. But the action scenes were done pretty well. But the action itself wasn't any memorable or elaborate. I felt like the series never focused on action much, instead it seemed more focused on drama and romance - well I didn't mind that coz I like romance more than action anyway.

The sounds were pretty good. I have never skipped the opening - it is one of the best I have heard.

So, to conclude the series started well, did really good in between, messed up close to the ending and delivered an averaged out conclusion but at least provides a proper closure.

I am one of the fans of the original SAO series. I didn't think it was a masterpiece or anything but I did enjoy watching it. It could probably because it was one of the first few anime I watched. I don't know.

Talking about this spin-off series. I honestly think this spin-off series was better than the original series. Don't get me wrong though, I still wouldn't call this one amazing or anything close to it. This also had its flaws.

I think SAO Alternative: GGO had better fights / battles. Not from an animation perspective, but from a viewpoint of entertainment and logic. Of ... course there is a lot of plot-armor involved but it wasn't unbearable - at least in the beginning. I quite enjoyed the earlier battles. But, the ultimate showdown between Pito and Lenn was far from enjoyable. To be honest, the final showdown from the first squad jam was also not very satisfying. LENN/Karen is too lucky and the writers went with stupidest ideas in these two showdowns.

I don't have any issues with the art. We have some cute characters and I am happy with that. But I do feel like there are lot of lolis - like too many. But otherwise, the art was quite good.

As for sound, i loved the ending theme. The opening was alright, but I skipped it for the second half of the season.

Now the characters are tricky. I like only couple of the characters. I haven't seen many anime with a female lead, so I cannot compare. But, I think Karen was quite likeable as a lead character. I liked Pito for the most part of the series, but the ending screwed up her character. She changed too quickly. As for the supporting characters, I don't think I particularly liked or hated any of them.

I did enjoy the series even though it had its flaws. Honestly the series was a 8/10 for the most part but then I had to drop it to 7 for the ending. It was a really screwed up ending right from the fight between Pito and Lenn upto the conclusion. There was one particular scene at the end that no man can hate, but I would like not to spoil stuff here.

So overall I give this series a 7 on 10. For those having second thoughts about watching this series - I cannot say that you might like this series but I definitely think this series is worth a try.

tbh, I am no big fan of harems. I hate it usually because the mc is really bland or the girls are usually too silly/characterless/cliched.

Another fact -- I guess, you would call this anime also a typical harem anime. I was not interested in it initially. My friend suggested it and I read the synopsis, I decided it would be a waste of time and left it in my PTW list for a long time. But then I decided to watch it after all (I don't know exactly why though).

Thank god I did. I wouldn't call it a great anime or anything but it ... did well the things it was supposed to do. It was definitely better than average -- in fact quite good and refreshing.

For starters, the mc seemed to actually possess a 'brain' and thus did not seem to be a perverted idiot. The story lacks in depth or seriousness. This anime is definitely not something you wanna take seriously. This is probably one of those that kinda refreshes your mind after watching hours of serious stuff.

The mc is overpowered right from the start. But, that is okay. I think it was better this way than having a pathetic character ending up with a harem. Moreover, the mc was also pretty smart. Not overly smart but definitely smarter than your average characters. And, I also believe the girls were not just introduced to 'be a part of his harem'. They had some role to play in almost all fights. For some reason the mc is still pretty dense when it comes to relationships, but it is bearable. He is not stupid, and tries to actually think through stuff.

The comedy was alright. I am a hard shell to crack when it comes to comedy, but at least it wasn't forced or painful to watch. It definitely put a smile on my face throughout the season.

Now for the ending -- it was pretty satisfying which is quite rare for harems (one of the reasons why I hate them). It also raises a possibility for another season -- if it gets one I am sure to watch it.

So, in the end, I would say this is one of the underrated anime out there. As I said before, it may not have perfected everything but it did not fail flat in anything either. Therefore, for anyone having second thoughts about watching this series, I think, this anime deserves a watch for sure.

The novel was very captivating. I got absorbed right from the first volume. IT always keeps you guessing answers to questions like "Who is it?" "Why is he/she doing this?" "How could you possibly escape from this situation?" and so on. I know that seems like typical of mystery/thriller genre. But there is a difference. Many anime (I cant speak of many novels/manga as I haven't read that lot) may confuse you but it is rare for me to invest myself thoroughly in a series and put myself in the Protagonist's shoes and think through stuff. Only few have managed to absorb me that much. ... This is one of them.

The novel is not all about thriller or mystery. It also deals with topics like human nature through its (quite eccentric) characters. While some stay true to their ideals and nature throughout the series like Maria, whereas, others grow out of their comfort-zone like Kazuki. And, this does not happen in a sudden fashion. It happens gradually and beautifully.

Talking about characters, to be honest some are realistic but few like Maria are far from it. Even though I liked her, you see few people like her. But, every character was well written with some level of background and depth. You will come to like some and hate some.

Another reason why I loved the novel -- I am a sucker for romance, and this novel delivered it. It is light at the beginning. But towards the end you have quite intense drama and romance involved.

The last reason would be its ending. This is where most anime I have watched fail. This had a good conclusion. Even to romance. Even though, I wanted more of the novel, I was satisfied with the way it ended.

This was a really good anime. But so unsatisfied with the ending. I feel like it should have been dragged a little bit. I wasn't even aware that I was watching the end until the scene after the ED of the last episode.

It was an alright anime overall. The OP was alright.The ED was awesome never skipped it. There are sometimes after ED scenes so don't forget to watch'em.

I'd give it a 7 on 10.

For those who are having second thoughts on watching it, please give it a try (like 4 episodes at least). Because, at first glance it gives off twilight ... vibes and looked like fanservice anime, but it gets really good. .

I would rate this a 6 of 10. I think it had a descent beginning, but it got worse and never got better. They overdid the Otaku part of the mc. Like being socially awkward is one thing but this guy is denser than a black hole. It feels really stupid and is painful to watch after sometime.

The animation quality also has some issues. It was average at the beginning but then gets worse a various points, it gets significantly bad towards the end of the season. I loved the opening song though - never skipped it.


The ending in itself wasn't anything great. I ... guess there is going to be another season considering the introduction of a new character and some unanswered questions. Well, I cannot say I am looking forward to it. I honestly had lost interest by the 10th (?) episode itself I guess.

For those who are having second thoughts about watching this: I honestly don't feel this is worth the time and I also don't know how good the manga is either. So, if you decide to give it a try, proceed at your own risk. I think this anime deserves a try at least.

Wow, it was a beautiful ride after all.


First, let me get this out. I initially dropped this after maybe 3-4 episodes. The mysteries were very predictable and the mc (I mean the male lead) was too dumb for me to handle. Even the side characters are too dumb, like Victorique's brother, for example.


That being said, it is probably the only problem I had with this series. The overall story was pretty solid. I liked how they handled the romance too.


I loved the series for its drama and some cute romance moments. Even though it says 'mystery', i didn't quite enjoy the 'smart' part of it ... at all.


The best part of the series would be the last few episodes (like 5-6 episodes). Those were the ones which actually had good overall story progression and drama. Loved those episodes.


For rating, I usually don't care how it began or how the art style or music was in an anime while rating it. I rate it based on how I felt when it ended (i.e. "enjoyment"). And, boy, it was good. The end was so satisfying. It would be best if I don't talk about the end, otherwise, you wouldn't enjoy it as much. So, finally, I would give this a 9(more like 8.5 but whatever) out of 10.
