Ever wanted Ash to be competent, did you ever wanted an actual supporting cast with their own stories to tell? Ever wanted GOOD animations? Well I have some good news for you, as Pokemon XYZ has everything a Pokémon fan would want from the animé.
Story:
The story is a direct follow up from Pokémon XY and the overarching side story; "Pokémon XY: Mega Evolution" (Which I both reccomend as much as XYZ) where Satoshi continues his journey through the Kalos region to get his eight and last badge in hopes of geting into the league. In the meantime our other protagonist Serena aims to become the

Kalos queen, however the road will be difficult with many formidable rivals around her! Their journey gets set on frequents halts by the dubious Team Flare which Ash is tied with according to Gojika. This is the premises of the story, there are many plotpoints. The story of XYZ is pretty basic, however the characters are what makes this particular Pokémon series so special.
Characters:
The characters are in XY/XYZ are charming, witty, likeable and are always in harmony with one another. Each having their unique backstories which made them into the persons they are now. Characters change in the course of these series, Satoshi, Serena, Citron, Eureka and Alain all experience change in the series, at times for the worse and eventually for the better. The characters learn from one another, admire one another for different reasons. They support one another when in need. I really felt like this cast of main characters weren't only companions, but really close friends. Which is what I always prefered in my animé. (HxH, Dragon Ball) And the same applies to the various Pokémon in the characters their disposal, they all have frequent screentime, interact with one another and change. Which makes the battles/performances all the more exciting, because you also start care about each and everyone of them. Some are cute (Serena's eevee and Pancham) some are badass (Ash's Noivern, Greninja) some are just plain weirdos (Ash's Hawlucha, Citron's Chespin)
Art:
??? I don't even need to eleborate on this. Puts many current airing animé to shame.
Sound:
The sound is perfect, from the remixes of some themes of their videogame counterparts to original pieces. It all matches well with the situations the cast gets mixed in, from piano pieces to straight up techno or rock.
Closure:
Watch this, it's fun and amazing :3
The end.
