TL;DR: Exact same premise - self-combusting humans vs. the fire fighters in charge of taking them out. Atsushi Ohkubo also made a statement about Trigger ripping off Fire Force so i mean!

Like I totally understand that every person that watches BNHA would think, "Oh hey! Super heroes... One Punch Man!" but I'm truly surprised that not many individuals have brought up a show that is similar in almost every aspect excluding it's whole superhero concept. Soul Eater. First of all, the main similarities between the two for sure lie in the plot lines. The plot in both series revolve around teenage characters set in a school setting catered towards those with supernatural abilities and from there the overall action-packed, comedic atmosphere provides more evidence to their similar traits. I find the characters in both shows generally similar mainly when in battle sequences; the battle at the end of BNHA really reminded me of the battles that frequently took place in Soul Eater. The villains also reminded me of those in Soul Eater because of the type of aura they gave off, their personalities and a tinge of their appearance as well. Genre wise , both have heavy comedy but it's halted when unneeded so both have good control when transitioning from scene to scene. The action and shounen elements are also very prominent in both as I had previous mentioned about it's atmosphere. The animation too is very similar (as they are both produced by Bones); relatively smooth transitions, colourful humorous scenes. Most of the similarities for me truly showed at the end of BNHA as I had already mentioned. Last but least but the soundtracks were something I found truthfully quite similar as well; mainly in that one rap track hahaha.

Both shows contain extremely colourful scenes and have a Slice-Of-Life catered feel. The topic of aliens is also present in both in which, 'Tsuritama' has a main character who is an alien and 'Kono Danshi, Uchuujin to Tatakaemasu' has a main character who defeats aliens. The characters are also a similarity; the main casts being completely male. There are also some moments that take place in the main characters thoughts. Lastly, both shows contain very light Shounen Ai.
