The show itself is very mediocre and easily predictable, but I find the MC fun to watch. Of course, the whole people are putting themselves at risk for a better future, other's enjoyment trope, or survival (ie: Deadman Wonderland and Squid Game) is very overused at this point in time but it takes an exciting twist. Yuuichi's character is written well enough for the anime not to be so typical. The 12 episodes will not do a fast-paced story like this any justice and will leave off with a cliff-hanger but it is entertaining at its core, and the manga is definitely worth a read.
