New shonen jump series made by famous authors and artists and everyone is praising it like the coming of the second Jesus. So it should be good, right? Hmmmm, I think not.
First of all, this manga has terrible storytelling and pacing. chapters 1-3 were spent on a lot of infodumps and expositions with no actual progress. there is no such thing as a goal, premise, or even a protagonist's motivation other than "I want to hunt" ahh, so what ? that's all ?
Then, in chapter 4, the so-called world-building is introduced. which shows the capital city but then the author threw it away
...
without explaination about it and wasted time with many unnecessary chapters with lame jokes and a few bland characters that I found very boring and had zero impact, nothing, nothing at all, just a fillers after fillers and finally, my patience ran out on this dumb shark chapter that (still) didn't do anything to the story or plot at all and decided to write this review.
Now let's talk about the characters, which is what people praise the most. I myself found them quite funny at first but they got old quickly due to the lack of stakes, tension, consequences. everything is convenient for them just because, and the result is that these characters seem more shallow than they really look
Seriously? why should I care or sympathize about these characters if nothing will happen to them anyway?
I mean, quirky character doesn't mean a good character and this series is an example of that
The setting is incredibly generic and just something I've seen a million times before. people hate exorcist manga and accusing them of being uncreative and uninspired, but of course, they will swallow this sh*t.
In terms of art, I think it's average and not as good as many people say and the action scenes and choreography still need a lot of work
I don't want to call this series "suck" right now, but if it doesn't get better, so I can't help
TLDR : This series has garbage pacing and below-average execution, there no direction, no substance, nothing happens. overrated art with poor action scenes and does not deserve to receive such high praise
Edit : I read up to chapter 11 and this manga is as dumb as ever that i decided to drop it. this series has no substance. there is no direction or plot other than things happening randomly. the characters besides the black woman have no characterization whatsoever and Ichi is an incredibly boring protagonist to me
If this is successful only because the author's (and artist) name is carrying its ass, then shonen jump is done for
Believe me, if something like Iruma that I quit after the first chapter because it was so bad was serialized in shonen jump instead of champion, which is considered the weakest of all Shonen manga magazines, it would definitely be canceled at volume 3.

This might be the most brutal manga review I've ever done.
Now, if you are a fan of this series then please skip my review because I will be criticizing it as someone who hates this series with a burning passion or you don't
I believe in the media industry there is something called "popularity syndrome", when something becomes popular or sells well, its quality decreases instead of improving, because the creators or people responsible have less incentive to improve their work, or maybe they just drag it out as long as possible just to milk it and make endless money, which makes things worse. This is
...
not the case for all popular series, but it definitely exists. Yes, one of them is "Spy X family"
This is one of the most overrated series I've come across since I started reading manga, and it's also one of the most pointless series out there.
1.) Story & plot
It's not bad if you just read the synopsis, it's quite interesting and I should have liked it, but no, it lost everything it had and its soul for something called "money". If this manga had followed its plot, it would have ended long ago, because it didn't have much things or even have the potential to be a long series. but because it sold very well so they chose to filled it with pointless fillers and shit ton of unnecessary chapter & arc as much possible as possible
The plots and lore are treated as if they were a joke and unimportant. just think about it, 5 years later, all shits i've mentioned has progressed less than the motorway in my country that took 30 years to build and is still not finished because of corruption. I have never seen a series insulting its readers as much as this one. I don't think the author himself knows what he should do next and what the purpose or goal of this series is, other than to keep doing it for money (I believe the publisher and editor has some influence on this)
B..BU...BUT MUH BECAUSE IT'S COMEDY & SLICE OF LIFE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!
This is an excuse that makes me even more irritated
No, not at all. First, I don't dislike comedy and slice-of-life, I actually quite like them if they're actually good. but everything in this series are so repetitive and so recycled that I don't find any difference in each chapter or arc. It's like reading the same things over and over again and the jokes aren't funny at all. not at all. just very dull and cringe
Now what makes it worse is the balance between seriousness and "slice of life and comedy" which is pretty everything that this series can offers
The characters meets problems & conflicts & lore drop > it seems like a big deal > it's not, all of this is just nothingburger & misunderstanding and it was easily solved just because > the next chapter is about a dog that has no connection or cohesive to the previous chapter whatsoever > repeat for 50 times > funny, right ? now laugh and forget everything happened before
This is such a terrible storytelling and narrative that I can't even put it into words.
If you're looking for a slice of life and comedy, I think there are 90% of series out there that are better than this and deserve a lot more attention.
2.) Characters
You think the characters are good, right ? Yes, they are memorable and the pink-haired kid is cute. that's all. However, I find the characters in this series to be incredibly flat more than they are. Most of the characters in this series are one note, one trope, one personality, and have little to no character development. None at all. I don't think any series other than a gag manga would qualify as a good series if it didn't have some sort of character development.
Yor is one of the worst female characters I've ever seens, and her brother, Yuri, is just incredibly annoying and insufferable
Loid is a super talented and super smart spy. he should know all the secrets that doesn't even seem to hard to know, but no, he can't. because if he finds out everything too quickly, this series will end and the author won't be able to make any more money right ?, do you think it makes sense that a character who is supposed to be smart ends up getting dumber as the story progresses ?
Franky is nothing more than a comic relief, he's smart and knowledgeable about everything but he was treated like trash. which I think is the most pitiful character in this series.
Anya yeah, I think this girl is so annoying. (This one is just my personal opinion)
All of this is to say that I hate the way they treated the characters so stupidly and unreasonably.
3.) Art
I think this is probably the only thing I can admire. It's a shame that it was wasted in this series.
Spy x Family is just a piece of soulless, manufactured, artificial and it's nothing more than a slop

First of all, I have to admit that romcom manga is not my cup of tea. but this one is incredibly bland and flavorless as if it was written by a chatGPT AI. The plot is low-effort and the characters are cookie cutter as much as possible
Now let's check out the clichés and tropes in this series.
" Boy meets girl just because they have to " checked
" Modern/high school/slice of life/urban setting" checked
" The FeMc is rich and popular, the MC is poor and underdog" checked
" They finally fall in love each other after 500 chapters of relationship development" checked
" potential NTR/Love triangle" checked
" Here,
...
your forced and cheap random fan-service. OMG !!!! Her skirt was blown by the wind and lifted up. then the MC saw it with his own two eyes and blushed " checked
All of these are things I've seen about the same number of years of the universe or the galaxy we live in.
The art is standard but the character designs are as bland as the story, especially the male protagonist. He's already very dull character and his design makes it worse while the girls are passable for romcom series but still lame and soulless, that's all I can say.
this series is as empty as air and has no emotion or depth or value other than formulaic, clichés and predictable developments we see in other 5 billion of so-called romantic comedy in the manga industry.
I hope it gets more interesting in the future but I'm not gonna expect anything from this kind of series
Not all romcom manga are bad, but this one is very underwhelming.
Edit : I made it to chapter 8 and it was even stupider and more boring than ever so I decided to drop it.
At this point, I hope it inevitably gets axed.

After 1 year passed I can say that this bleach-like with harem element manga has definitely improved from the first 5 chapters which I thought were the biggest piece of hot garbage I've read in Shonen Jump. so i will pretend to forget it because I don't want to talk about that part.
Many people might say that it's too generic and uninspired and I agree. but we have thousands of such manga in the industry and some of them are good or bad. so it's not much of an issue. First of all, what this manga does well is that the execution and pacing are
...
quite smooth and easy to read without being too much confusing. In terms of the main plot and premise there isn't much things that is interesting enough or makes you want to follow what happens in the next chapter. unless you are already a die-hard fan of this type of manga or maybe you'll be interested in what happens to the characters. I am a little bit too
most of the jokes didn't really click for me and were mostly cringe-worthy and the romcom part in particular is terrible and probably the worst part of the series. However, the battle part is well done and cool as a battle shonen and the monster and character designs I think are really good. I will give my full respect here for artist talent for these things
Most of the characters are fine except for the protagonist (his name is gakuro) who I think is a biggest deadweight that makes the series unlikable and annoying for most people, his design is stupid and he always opens his mouth no matter the situation. Which I think the author probably knew and thought was funny or ironic. If so, I can't help but laugh. If you ask me which character do I like the most It's probably nue. she has great leadership personality and cool-looking, as for the other female characters, kazusa is good and badass at time, I hope she ends up with another guy instead of this loser-ass protagonist. (lmao) other male characters like zenno are funny but he has too little screen time.
In terms of art, it was well done. The drawing style is unique, although it's a bit weird in my opinion. especially the anatomy of the characters which always look elongated even if the ghibli design are cute.
The cover design and the color pages are banged and if it was published in my country I might buy it just for the cover.
In the end, this manga is both generic and unique in same time because some of its weirdness that gives it certain appeal and fanbases. it's not definitely the best series, but it has some competency. since It is hated too much. so seeing Hater foam at their mouth when this doesn't get axed yet is a form of entertainment for me

I wanted to write my review on this before it got more popular and might eventually get overrated.
What makes this manga great in my opinion is its depiction of a story that doesn't make either side too evil or too good. while the church is no less bad than Satan by forcing the poor boy to fight against Satan alone. As for Satan, they had their own reasons, which didn't make them look much better. There is also the witch faction which is the third party. from my understanding, they were probably unfairly punished by the church and had to join the witches. It makes
...
the story more diverse and not too one-dimensional. Although the overall story was a bit generic for me. which isn't always bad thing because generic stuff can be more appealing if it executed well
One of my favorite things is the Biblical verses. As a Non-Christian like me, they are so powerful that I was momentarily stunned while reading them, they're just really really really great....
As for the characters, they are as well written as the story. which in my opinion priest boy He deserves to live and grow up like any other child. Including being able to love without feeling shame, and Imuri, the Lord of Lust, who was sent to seduce a boy who was confused about what he really wanted in life. She is a great character. although she is a satan in disguise, she doesn't seem as evil as other satans. imo she just wanted the one thing the priest boy wanted. That is love and peaceful life. this is the greatest feeling that this manga wants to express. In addition, many of the supporting characters and antagonists are interesting.
In terms of art, it is good and has a unique drawing and design style. The layout of the pages is well done and easy to digest.
Although the bi-weekly schedule may be quite long. But I think it's definitely worth it for such high quality work. It's definitely worth the wait for each chapter.

It started off relatively mid, but has improved and evolved greatly since then. what I will admire is it's not just a dumb mindless battle shonen manga as it may seem, but the writing and character portrayals are really good, the art is good, and the world building is good.
Characters
Most of the characters are interesting and charming. I like the protagonist, who is strong, gentle and reliable. which is a desirable quality of a shonen protagonist.
Art
There has been a huge improvement in the early chapters. It's not a style I really like, but it fits the theme of the story nicely.
Story
As the
...
series progresses, The story is deep and there are more things to look forward to discovering. I think the pacing is also a good thing for the series.
Enjoyment
It's one of WSJ series that I look forward to the most each week. I didn't like it because of the meme. but because it deserves to be liked.

Other than the art, I really have nothing to admire about this series (however, I found the art style to be quite generic and the character designs incredibly bland) this manga is super duper empty. everything in it is empty and there is no such thing as personality. It felt like I was chewing flavorless gum while reading it and my jaw was tired from chewing it. but I can't taste anything, so it's not good at all
from the characters (Tenmaku is so freaking annoying, yet he has no impact on the story), the plot, to the message it wants to convey to the readers,
...
it has none of those things. by the end of the series, I still don't know what movie they ended up making because there's barely anything happening throughout the 21 chapters of mediocrity and dullness
This is one of the most boring and pointless manga I've ever experienced. If you like reading beautiful art books with annotations, then this is for you. yes, that's the definition of it.

I didn't like my old review so I wanted to write a new one
Cipher academy is a manga about solving puzzles, school drama, the growth of the protagonist and other characters through various situations and cheesy power of friendship in the way that an average shonen manga should be. so I will analyze the various aspects of this manga in more detail.
1.Story & plots & premise
Usually for me the plot where the main character joins X is quite repetitive and formulaic. (Many of this author's works always have a school setting. I don't know why.) But in this manga, A boy (yes, a boy,
...
he's cute, right?) attends an all-girls school that focuses on deciphering and solving many puzzles that their received. this may seem boring to most people. In particular, most of the puzzles require knowledge of the Japanese language. but what makes this manga portray these things so well is the characters' reactions towards those puzzles. and their interactions (I think art helps a lot. I'll cover the art part) so you can enjoy it without trying to solve the puzzles yourself. Just watch the characters do their thing even if some of the puzzles are stupid and don't make sense and can be solved just because....it is, But like I said This manga has a refreshing and unique atmosphere that keeps you entertained even if you don't understand any damn thing, As for the premise that's straightforward but has a good and beautiful meaning. an normal boy dreams of ending the war with the treasure he will receive after overcoming many obstacles. (I won't spoil any further, because I want you to read it yourself) This suitable the concept of most shonen manga where the protagonist wants to be X or make the world better. It's not that special imo, but it's easy to understand and fits well with the world situation as the author wishes to convey the meaning
2.Characters
It's what truly carries this manga. From the protagonist to supporting characters and others that make you want to root for them. as the story progresses each character becomes more interesting. They have their own unique personalities and motivation. Even though there are a lot of characters, they don't feel like they're cookie cutter at all, let's start with Irohazaka iroha, the cute femboy protagonist who on the first volume cover. he's a really good protagonist imo. In terms of personality, he seems naive and always tries to be friendly to others, even if that person is not friendly to him, he has a habit of always caring for others and has an genki attitude that is always eager to do things with confidence in himself. These things alone make him very likable to me. since this manga has so many characters, describing them one by one is too much for me. So I'll list my favorite characters and explain a little about them.
2.1 Irohazaka iroha
Who I think will be probably the cutest male jump protagonist since nagisa shiota from assassination classroom. his personality makes him even more cuter and loveable. most importantly, he likes to dance !!!
2.2 Anonymity Requested
She looks like she's from a typical shojo or romcom manga. and of course she is the best girl in terms of cuteness and charm. It made me think for days when she took off her mask for the first time.
2.3 Toshusai kyora
the villain looking girl who is actually very sweet girl. The relationship between her and the protagonist as friends is really good.
2.4 Kasuri Ensa
She is the protagonist's closest friend. A lovely and trustworthy friend, their relationship seems to be platonic relationship more than man-woman romance for me.
2.5 Yugata Tayutan
The stoic-looking girl was due to her past. She is very cool girl and has some interesting special abilities that make you want to root on her. Her relationship between toshusai is sooooo wholesome (It's a little yuri bait for me)
3.Art
It's very stylish and underrated for me. I'm surprised and a feel little hurt by people who don't like or hate the manga and don't even appreciate the art at least. the character designs are simple but attractive and with such an art style. It makes reading manga filled with lots of information and puzzles more appealing. It makes me want to see new work by this artist as soon as possible, even if he no longer collaborates with this manga's writer
4.Others
One thing you can clearly notice is that even though there was only one boy (because we haven't seen the other boys yet) and several dozen female characters. It also has no elements of romance or harem or fan service as it should be due to its setting. and the female characters are quite independent in their own, If you want to think deeper, this manga is very feminist. whatever it is, it's up to you. I like this type of trope. the manga has really interesting at women writing, the relationship between the male protagonist and the other female characters is based on friendship and trust
In the end, it's a huge shame that the manga didn't succeed, even though its quality deserved it. It's been 5 months since serialization ended. I still miss this and Imagine what it would be like if it had not been canceled and flourished in this magazine.
I will say I love you, Cipher Academy, and I'm glad I read this manga from beginning to end. and whoever reads this review should read it too. If you have already dropped it please pick it up again and read it carefully.
May the war will end

a very harmless wholesome slice of life manga about a group of cats runs a ramen shop, All cats are cute and have their own personalities and characteristic Including 1 human character and 1 tiger (lol). The ramen they make Looks really delicious And it whetted my appetite very well. It also provides some great deal of knowledge about small business management.
It's an easy manga to read. perfect for your average tough days or after reading depressing manga or watching dark anime
The art is a bit rough, but it's appropriate for this type of manga.
My favorite cat is hana-san. She reminded me of one of
