First up I wish to let everyone know there isn't just 12 episodes of this anime, there is technically more than 12 Episodes. There is actually 13 episodes. I just want to make sure everyone is receiving the correct information is all)

Story: 8

For a anime with 13 episodes it is quite a ... weird anime right from the word go. Girl has the ability to see who is going to die and see rings around their necks, before long she comes across the zombie guys who have a contract with a guy who is the caretaker and someone who guides people to the other realm be it heaven or hell. Overall the story isn't what made me curious or interested in this anime, but rather the characters.

Art: 7

It is pretty average in most circumstances, why do I say this is well for a anime released in 2007, I would have thought that it would have looked a little better. As art can often set the tone of a anime. Overall they at least did their best and in a way I like the feel the art style gives off to help make us all understand where and when this anime is set in. It also helps us understand that most of the events seem to happen after dark.

Sound: 5

For a anime released in 2007, the voices a clear and easy to understand what is said. It could however have used a Original Soundtrack of it's own to help give viewers a clear understanding as to how each character feels. Otherwise the opening just seems like a scream band of sorts and the words are hard to understand as to what is being sung.

Character: 8

As I was watching the anime I noticed that gradually we get to see a different side to each of the characters that we didn't see originally when the anime first started or when we started to watch it. And whilst Kita starts of as a obedient, well behaved average school girl who can see the rings around people's necks which are a sign that they are going to die. She starts off afraid of it but over a period of time she seems to gradually accept that it is apart of her and wo she is. Overall I liked that about her, cause it isn't often that a anime character starts off as somewhat of a weak personality. As of yet I haven't found any characters that I disliked or hated, be it their personality or not.

Enjoyment: 6

Right now I am up to episode 10 out of 13. Normally once I start a anime I will watch it to the very end cause I want to know if they achieve their goals or what they set out to do. But as I stated in the character section of my review, I honestly can't say I am finding it hard to follow or even anything that I honestly dislike as of yet. But it is defiantly interesting enough to make me want to sit down and watch it from start to finish.

Look this anime has it's flaws much the same as a few others and sure there could be things they could fix to make more and more people watch this and become hooked on it but overall really can't pick out what I dislike or like exactly as of yet. But it is a different storyline in comparrasson to a few others to do with the dead or even spirits such as the anime xxXHolicXxx, but it is a anime that is worth seeing. After all you might like it. I think it really will depend on the individual as to if they would like it for sure. But do give it a go for yourself.

Monster is one of the few anime i have actually had a high interest in for a while. Throughout the whole series the anime deals with alot of issues such as racism, psychology, and goes through the details of both good and evil.

Story: 10

The story-line follows the doctor, doctor Tenma as he tries to save lives and bring a murder Johan Liebert. But as the story progressed, even if i personally wasn't entirely into it i still personally couldn't help but keep going. I soon found myself engrossed. The Viewer will very rarely find themselves board or annoyed with it. It is a very beautiful ... story and you can't help but keep going till the very end.

The dialogue was never a waste of time and kept the story-line going and at times was soothing and somewhat made you feel anxious.

Animation: 9

Sure while it looks like a old form of style if you compare it to other anime out there. Also the way the eyes are designed to show intent, be it of the sinister intent like the story suggests, the use of colour makes it stand out from some of the others. Even the imagery at the end that showed a story of a monster without a name was very good and useful, it kept to the story and made us want to watch more to see more of the said story, which appears some time in the series. Overall it has the best animation that was used no doubt in its time. Thing i still don't understand is why no-one else has given this anime a go.

Sound: 9

Everyone's voice actor does his or her part to suit the role, and they do it in such a precise way, causing each voice actor to stand out. And while i do prefer an Original Soundtrack to have more life, this one does it's best and each track that is played causes the viewer to either jump out of their skin when they see danger right behind a character that not even the character in question has realised. Overall i think it achieved the goal it originally set out to do.

Character: 10

The greatest strength i noticed when watching this is each character was convincing, strong and did what he or she set out to do even if for some of them it meant meeting their demise. Each character, good or evil did their part. I in-particular rather liked Heinrich Lunge, Doctor Tenma and Johan Liebert. Why, well i can't exactly pick a exact thing about them i like. But Lunge was unlike any other character i had ever seen in a anime, be it his tapping as though he was always on a computer typing away or how he always tried to figure out how the murder killed. He was really one character for me that standed out from the crowd. Doctor Tenma was also very interesting going from a surgeon to 'a man on a mission' so to speak. Fact of the matter is these three characters will always stand out to me no matter what anime i personally watch next.

Enjoyment: 10

Monster is one of those anime you think at first "OMG, this anime looks boring as hell' but once you get started you can't help but keep going. Be it the tittle or otherwise, you feel drawn to it and soon end up watching. Sure it seems slow but with episodes that only go for 23:55 each roughly, but once you finish each episode you are left wanting more and more, till finally before you even realize it your 3 quarters of the way through. If anything i feel like this anime will be one i, myself won't be forgetting anytime soon; that much i can say for certain.

The story will have you wrapped and have most of you second guessing some characters or trying to figure out who is the guilty party. The opening is fairly simple being more music than word or lyrics unlike many predecessors that came before it, it does the job of getting us ready for each episode without the power instruments such as Electric guitars, drums or normal guitars. It brings the message across and is a easy watch.

Getting ready for bed and want something which is easy to understand? Monster is the anime for you. It will have you at the edge of your seat and wondering what will happen to each of the characters as the story progresses. Please give this anime a go, you might find yourself hooked. Give it ago, who knows you might like it.

Personally i didn't mind the overall story-line of this anime that being said it was annoyingly slow and it took me a at least 3 days to get through this anime, also there is 28 episodes total. Damn that was a long time of watching in a day.

Anyway the story of this anime seems pretty straight forward right? Guy is stuck in game, meets a array of different characters whom each have their personality flaws.

That's all pretty good and right. Is one character really that bad in my opinion, hmm now i think about it my least favorite character was A20 because she never ... really stood up for herself and she somewhat pissed me off as a result, sure she wasn't really a main character or anyone of great importance to the series in the end but as i was watching her constantly getting beaten up by monsters to the point she ended up told off on several by Mimiru.

Another Character that also bugged me was Grim, with other character's talking about him i thought he would have been at least have a better personality towards others. I found myself on several occassions yelling at the screen "maybe just listen". Everything like that aside there was none of the things most people look for such as fan service (pantie shot e.t.c) or action, basically not enough to get a person hooked. I can't say i would watch this again.
