Hello there. Sorry for bothering but, I noticed that you like Mahou Sensou. That's great. I haven't actually watch it and I am meaning to ask, why does people mocked it so much?..
If it's an OVA, I'm afraid it'll be like Kira. Although I can recall there's an arc on the Nintendo DS game Higu Kizuna which focus on the twins, but I'm not sure. :S
But even if there's no Shion OVA, THERE'S THE MOVIE!
Well if your're looking for a new anime to watch then I recommend 'Gosick'...or any anime that's on my top 5 list lol It's a great anime and it combines my two favourite genres- mystery and Steampunk :D
rper? never heard of that lol but it sounds interesting :D
Yeah they definitely should have dedicated more episodes to level grinding/clearing dungeons. Out of the 75 bosses, how many did they animate? Four?
Then there is ALO. It was like one dungeon/arena with seemingly endless swarms of 2-3 different weak monsters, then.... lopsided fight with the sadistic fairy king. Completely different from the 100 levels of dungeons in SAO.
I doubt it. If anything, SAO will get a sequel. It sold really well in Japan (bluray rankings). I don't know much about the LN, but with 100 dungeons (plus the one hidden dungeon in the Town of Beginnings) they can easily write enough material for 52 episodes. Instead, we get a cop out ending and romantic fillers in 14-15 episodes.
I just hope the sequel will be more action-focused, now that Kirito x Asuna is practically a done deal. (No more brocon/cuzcon please....)
TBH I felt the SAO ending was a cop out. Instead of ending at level 100, conveniently enough, Kirito defeats the final boss at level 75 instead. It's like they couldn't think of any new material for SAO, so they decided to end the arc 3/4 of the way.
And ALO was even more of a downer. Kirito starts out super badass anyway, so there's no need for any time investment in the game beyond learning how to fly and "saving the princess." How he lasted a week with super high stats/corrupted profile (all those questions marks...) without admin detection is beyond me.
In retrospect, I watched SAO with the wrong expectations. It marketed itself as an adventure/shonen/action series, but ended up with way more "romance" than I bargained for, and not enough action.
"Considering a lot of the girls are in love with Kirito; but hey. What do you expect? Lot of other anime have that and people don't say much on them."
Lots of other animes specifically market themselves as harems, unlike SAO. Yet SAO suffers from the same defect as thousands of harems do; a lack of believable romance. Girls fall instantly in love with him just because he is super strong/saves them from harm? Admittedly, he has decent interaction with Asuna, but brocon completely replaced any further relationship development between him and Asuna in the ALO arc and regrettably reduced precious screen time that should be used to further develop the ALO story.
"SAO should have had its own season"
I agree, but given that SAO wasted many episodes on what essentially amounted to side quests and one-sided crushes, I fear that it would fall into the same traps as a standalone season.
Even ignoring SAO's harem tendencies, the amount of deux ex machina in SAO defies convention. Kirito's super hacking skill, Asuna miraculously escaping paralysis, him dying-but-gotcha-I'm-not-really-dead, and his gaining admin privileges at the end of ALO made the hard work (if it existed in the first place) leading to each plot point all the more insignificant.

With that being said, welcome to MAL :)
