-These two anime feel like a whole genre (which is not surprising since the story was co-written by the same guy): [School setting] + [comedy -> mystery -> drama -> tragedy progression] + [side character arcs] Differences: -Little Busters certainly has less sparkly animation/visuals, so the simple humour isn't as enjoyable as in Angel Beats. The beginning feels dry for the same reason, but: If you can endure (or even fully enjoy) the comedy and slow pacing, you'll be rewarded with a far more sincere, subtle and fleshed out mystery section that leads to a finale that's as powerful as it is carefully woven in. The story arcs of the supporting characters are less dramatic (compared to Angel Beats), but they are often much more touching, as the lack of dramatisation feels more human. ### -It's the only anime I'd really say with confidence: it gets better as it goes along (every third of the 36 episodes is a noticeable step up; from 5 to 8.5 for me). This is also partly because the anime hides a lot of themes that you only understand later or on re-watching, while it has little to offer if there's nothing to build on beforehand. [Skip last two episodes if you dislike mandatory happy endings.]
