I've just finished the movie. In general, it was great.
I don't think that the movie will spoil the series, because its alternative to it, but who knows. By the time I'm writing this review, I've
seen only 20 episodes, so I don't know how the anime ends.
Anyway, I'll start the actual review.
Art / Animation:
to tell the truth, it was horrible. There was time where I wondered if I'm watching a movie from the end of 2007, or a movie
from the early 80`s. Though the backgrounds scenery was pretty good, the characters looked awful, with a lack of proportion and made some
...
weird moves. I just couldn't ignore it, and I think that it was the only thing that spoiled my enjoyment of the movie.
Sound:
Nothing special, really. It was fine, and I haven't noticed it for most of the time. The ending theme was nice, but that's all. The new version of Dango Daikazoku was cute and feet with the style of the movie.
Story:
The story was great. There were even some scenes that almost made me cry, and some that made me laugh. As far as I saw from the series, the story in the movie was better. I haven't played the game,
but I think that the meaning behind CLANNAD was transferred better in the movie. A lot of the changed scenes fet just right in the movie. The fact that they've 'jumped' from the past to the present kept me interested, and the change of mood of each scene made a lot of Impact on me, and it was a great idea. Just KEY's style, and there was no disappointment here for me.
Character:
The characters personality was kind of different from the anime. Kyou's (really minor role) personality was completely different from the anime, and Tomoya was kind of strange to me. But hey, that may be just my imagination. But besides that, the characters were great. Each of the main characters has gone through development, especially Tomoya. The scene with his father and the lat scene were just great, and almost made me cry.
Enjoyment + Overall:
I think that the only bad thing here was the art, the rest ware really good. The implementation of this movie was wonderful, and I've enjoyed every minute of it. If after the anime I've thought that the CLANNAD story has nothing special, after seeing this movie I realized that I was really wrong.
If you didn't like the series, see this movie.

To tell the truth, I saw the movie about a month ago. Why am I writing the review now? because today, for some reason, I decided to watch this again.
Story - The story is a preaty simple one. Not a very original plot, and even something that can happen every day in our world. Sounds boring? not at all. Thats Shinkai Makoto, after all. All the 3 chapters of 5 Centimeters per Second is just perfect. Every single one of them is touching, and above all of then - the third one. That was the first time, after I finished SaiKano (and that was a
...
looong time ago), that I've cried.
Animation - I have only one word to describe it - Wow, just wow. The animation here is one of the best that I've ever seen, if not the best. Every single detail, from a simple magazine to a scenery is just amazing. I think thats even better than the reallity. The Characters art is less amazing, but good too.
Sound - Well, the OST here was good. The bgm was nice, and perfectly to the part it was put in. If it was hust nice, why did I gave 10 to the sound part? just because the song that was in the third episode. That song is just amazing, especially the part it was put in. Thats the only anime-song that can make me sad every time I hear it.
Character - typical characters, without any special thing about their personality, just the one you would expect from the first time you will see the character. They are just normal people, and act just like you would expect from them.
Why 9, then? These simple characters are something that you can not be not attracted to, and this so made so good that you can't even not like the things that you usually would complain about.
How can you not like this movie? This is in the 4th place in my favorite list, out of 200 and something other things. With a simple story and regular characters, this is just purely beautiful, a work of a genius. As a fan of all Shinkai Makoto works, this is his best work until now. I just can't wait to his next work, to amaze me even more, but until then - 5 Centimeters per Second got a sure place in my fav list.

OMFG I just can't believe that I've ever recommended this thing to someone.
It started fine, as a love triangle anime, something like Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, but the more I saw the more I hated it. In fact, its a shame to Kimi ga Nozomu Eien to to be included in the same post with School Days.
The story, at first, was fine. Like I've said before, a love triangle with a pathetic male, shy girl and a hyper girl. But the more I saw, the less it could be called >triangle<. The creators wanted to make it complicated, but in the end it turned out
...
to be pathetic.
The animation is the only good thing about this anime. the animation and the sound. In fact, I like the art-style here. ;;XD
There were some little problems sometimes, but overall it was good.
The sound is another thing that was good. In fact, I cant stop listening to one of the ending songs. ^^"
Character. The characters, all of them, are just the worst. Every single one of them is so pathetic that I cant bear it. In they're place, if was in the same situation, I would die rather than being so pathetic. ._.
And if they are pathetic, Makoto is the most pathetic, annoying and disgusting character that I've ever seen. He's just a sex machine, and thats all he cares about - sex. If someone will kill him, I will add himher in my fav list. '-'
Enjoyment~ hmm. Well, a least its not boring and you'll never expect what is coming next. BUT, the Characters are more annoying in every episode, so every time I watching an episode, I'm in a bad mood for a couple of hours after that.
Overall - well, its not recommended for someone like me. like I said before, it started fine, there was even a time when I actually liked it. If Makoto was less sex addicted and pathetic, and the love triangle was just a >triangle<, It could have been a lot better.
