Short and sweet but personally the ending was a bit too enigmatic (confusing) for my taste. I'm sure there was a metaphor or two I missed that would have made it make sense, if you find them please explain it to me!
The story covers feelings of loneliness whilst not being physically alone, not fitting in, poor home life, etc. relatable themes presented in a digestible way.
The art is gentler and more "indie" than typical anime, a nice change of pace from time to time and certainly a good fit for the story as one giant metaphor.
Realistic and enjoyable characters.

This movie is mostly a a remix of Anohana with maybe 30 mins new content mostly spread around so you can't easily just skip all the reused scenes. This movie is terrible to watch immediately after finishing the series, give it a few months or even a year then watch it if at all.
The new content was fine, can't complain, more of the usual, tied off a couple threads but nothing worth suffering through 1hr of stuff you JUST finished watching. Art was the same quality which is obviously shoddy for a movie but it is no surprise since otherwise the reused footage would look out ... |
