They both take a strong look at politics and economics of a pre industrial/medieval setting. It has interesting and engaging characters and a unexpected plot pretty much every episode. The main characters romance is often shoveled to the side of the main plot but still apparent and present during the series. Uses fantasy to enhance a story while maintaining intelligent and political facts and information about War,Economics and public perception. Ookamis Related works would also apply to this recommendation.

Highschool of the Dead

This may seem obvious but both heavily zombie based and action loaded. The thing is its hard to compare high school of the dead with a lot of anime since its unique since there's almost no survival styled anime. Biohazard (resident evil) tho is a movie based on survival horror in most ways. The movies deals with surviving a zombie filled airport and eventually develops a larger plot with the will pharma corporations virus/cure. high school of the dead is a more traditional city survival and because of that i would have liked to recommend Biohazard damnation which is the sequel to degeneration but it was sadly not listed on my choices. I think you can get enjoyment from both movies if you liked HOD. It may lack the erotic and sexual content but it has all the action that i felt the show needed more of.

Majutsushi Orphen

Hunters and Orphen share a very similar atmosphere when it comes to fighting creatures at least in season one of Orphen for sure. Both shows focus on a small group of people on a mission of one kind or another. They both have similar humor and battle styles as well as animation and even voices to a degree. The main difference is in one anime they hunt sorcerers and in the other they hunt dragons. Orphen also has stronger tones of romance well serious romance anyway. I think if you enjoyed either you would find a great interest in the other. In Hunters they use a lot more risky character designs for the female leads. Despite a lot of similarities the shows main characters are nothing a like really. One being very serious and confident and the other being clueless and perverted. They also have very opposite art styles one being minimalistic and the other being fairly well detailed.

Very energetic main characters who's main goal is to be perverse with guys of there liking. Dimwitted but well meaning male leads and some interesting secondary girls to keep the shows fresh and entertaining. Lots of classic styled harem scenarios with one or two new twists on a very used genre. The shows are full of perverted humor and strange things happening all the time. The main difference is B Gata is a much more well developed show when it comes to characters not just in one aspect either. The Art,Back Story and originality is much higher quality.

Angelic females taking interest in a very plane and boring character. The main difference of the two is that one is more childish while the other holds a mature tone. There is obvious plot differences but for the most part the concepts the same. A Man falls in love with a angel.

Medarot

Meadabots has a older feel to the animation with even less detailed art but the plot and characters are solid. Instead of monsters you got robots and instead of fighting evil digimon there's a crime syndicate and tournaments with other robots. The reason i think you would enjoy this show if you enjoyed digimon is cause it just has the same feel when watching it. Your interested to see more and learn about the universe your in. You wanna see how they win and all the different types of robots and what exactly they do. it may not be the exact same plot or arch type characters rehashed but it just has some very similar quality's to it that make it just as enjoyable to watch in my opinion. It's one of those things you would have to watch and see to truly get i think. so try it out if you think you kinda get what i mean.

Fairy Tail

Rave is the short lived TV prototype for fairy tale, tho not actually but a majority of its influences are seen in fairy tale. From the Jiggle butt gang to plue the weird cone nosed dog its overly apparent. Also a lot of statues and pictures often have Griffon in them you know the small blue guy with big lips? You can also see that the female main characters are patterned after each other. I personally think lucy is lesser than ellie tho. Ellie had a more natural appearance where as lucy seems like she trys to hard at times. Anyway the show is not as action filled as fairy tale and it ended prematurely truly it should have got another season or continued production till a satisfying end could be made. If your the type who carry's onto the manga after a good anime than this may get you interested. The characters are just as well done as fairy tale and even better in some cases (personal opinion) tho not boasting such a large main cast you can enjoy the series quite a bit for its 49 episode run. Animation is slightly lesser than fairy tale and not as compelling a musical score but it all fits well to the anime. The show is fully of silly humor and sword swinging bad guy thwarting fun.

Monster Farm: Enbanseki no Himitsu

Having a similar concept but monster rancher is far better executed and has a stronger selection of characters overall. the monsters are much more in depth since they are each given personality's and the ability to talk as well as battle. i also found the main character was more enjoyable than in dragon drive since he was more energized and humerus. It also has a much more gripping journey and better bad guys. It's just a lot more fun to watch but there essentially at the core the same type of show. i think if you like dragon drive your going to love monster rancher since its a standard above dragon drive.

Maison Ikkoku

In relation to this anime its made by the same wonderful creator Rumiko Takashi so you will notice a similar drawing style and maybe a few familiar scenes. The difference is mostly in Maison Ikkoku has a lot more romantic developments than pitted rivalry's. One of the things i felt could have been more explored in Ranma was the romantic aspects of the show and when i found out that Maison Ikkoku existed i was instantly curious and after watching only 5 episodes i knew this is just what i wanted. It is nowhere near as long as Ranma so do not be intimidated to start it off, also unlike Ranma's ending they wrapped it up in a movie tho the movie adds a few characters that never made it onto the show. If you love the comedy and the romance of Ranma this may be a good follow up show for you, it has just such a familiar feel while making it all feel closer to reality.

This is set in the same town and share cross over story with it as well. Theres a new set of main characters with romantic problems just as bad as these two but there is a lack of aliens. It is mostly just teenagers who don't understand love yet. oh and a guy and his possibly little sister who might be his girlfriend eventually. Anyway if your a fan of onegai teacher, onegai twins is almost exactly a like but i found it even better cause it was slightly more relate-able and not as far fetched in a way. Also in a way the characters were more or less more enjoyable since there was more of them and they just seemed to be more energetic in the plots.

Another good game adapted into a anime, tho with a slightly longer and interesting plot line. The animation and sound are very similar but it has the same kinda tone to the whole show. Its not actually part of any game but its a interesting side story in the games universe. When i think of either of these anime they both connect in my head so, yah i recommend if you like Eternia check out twilight venom.
