There's a very similar atmosphere in both series. Each of the characters are extensively explored and gain a better understanding of each other through very unnatural experiences. The premise of the series may be different, but excluding that, if you like the character development in either of the series, you'll sure to like the other show.

Begins with a normal start only to have something unthinkable happen and destroy what the main character considers normal. Namely zombies. From there, it's a game of survival!

Starts off fairly normal when something out of the ordinary appears and shatters the normalcy of the main character's life. Cue pandemonium.

If you liked Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu add

This movie deals intricately with witty character interaction, good character development, and extremely similar elements of time-travel. The animation and art are both great, and the music will really pull you into the show. There are tense moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and there will be light-hearted moments where you can laugh. Either way, if you watch either, be prepared for one heck of a ride! Important note:The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya is only a movie you can only fully appreciate if you have watched the previous two seasons adapted before it.

The art-style is very similar along with the atmosphere. Facial expressions are very fleshed out and events that take place in either will most likely shock you. You can't NOT think of the other when reading either.
