The story is horimiya is that they have sides to themselves which they don't want other people to find out about and this is similar to komi-san as komi is hiding the fact that she is unable to communicate and people misjudge her. Horimiya is similar in this sense that they are hiding their true selves but as the story evolves they start to open up. Both have essence of romance and comedy about school life
